I don't know where Nissan is heading in the future but for now in the present i'm just happy to see that they are still producing a performance 2 door car by introducing a new member of the Z-car lineage powered by a twin turbo DOHC 3.0-liter v-6 but specially to still have an option of 3 pedals, something that is sadly starting to dissapear.
It might just be one of the last cars of its kind. I would actually buy one if i could afford it and its about the only current car i would say that about.
@@bara555My point is that regardless not having an all new ground up redesign on a new platform and your quite right there is some 350z DNA considering the platform stretches way back to the Z's return to the U.S. market in 2002, but it shares more components with the 370z, the engine inside is the same as the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 but that doesn't make it a bad car all I'm saying is that at least Nissan is trying it's best to still bring a good sport car to the market with a manual transmission and forced induction.

Yes another Silvia finally. Also maybe Nissan should just say f it and bring back Evo type awd 4 banger turbo under Nissan name since Mitsubishi won't.
They just released the base price is at 30k of course dealers will mark them up to 20k right, I posted this already as I have a friend who works at nissan and can confirm they will go for 50k.
The crazy part about the old frontier was that it was still a solid competitor in the segment. Even after 15 years and skipping several redesigns that others had, it was just as good. Says a lot about the early 2000s design...
We could almost say the same thing about the Tacoma...until they replaced that legendary 4.0 V6 with the not so stellar 3.5 V6. If I were to buy one, I'd swap the 3.5 for the 4.0. It's a much better engine.
I do really hope Nissan find its way back to being Toyota's top rival. Seems like they're doing quite a nice job, bringing a brand new Z, taking cvt off those models they know should be made to last and be driven in a tough way, and trying to offer cheaper but yet reliable option in every category.
@@TEDdotcom Civic Si owner here, love my car, love honda, but Honda makes no competitors to Z cars. They make a legendary car in the Type R, but no coupes anymore!
Honestly, they are doing well now, hope they continue, I want to see a new Skyline and the new R36 GTR, also revive the Silvia and the SX line, also other iconic Nissan names, so yeah
Some of the newer Nissan and Infiniti models are moving away from their CVTs which was their main reliability downfall. The VQ engine, while dated, is a pretty solid engine overall. In the near long-term, this could save them though how they adapt to increasing mpg/electric vehicles (like every other auto manufacturer) will decide their long-term fate.
The funny thing is people (not saying you) talk about nissans crappy CVTs (which they are for the most part) in comment sections or forums, and that is its the main downfall of Nissan. Yet all people have to do is a normal transmission oil change regularly (like with any other vehicle), and it would eliminate the problem. Literally tons of people in the same comment sections and forums, who say they're still driving nissans past 200k plus, is because of basic maintenance that you would do on any other car brand. Imagine that.
As a Nissan technician I think Nissan really has come a long way in terms of quality... Yea the cvt's had issues but now I'd say all 2018 and up vehicles we rarely ever have to replace the transmissions. Reliability has been a lot greater. I'm excited for the new Z!

My 370z with mainly exhaust and a tune was pulling on Mustangs and Challengers so the new Z will just be faster... but you gotta remember American cars are tuned for straight lines, not hard cornering like the Z and other Japanese cars.
I am mad excited for the new Z. I want to get a bare rolling shell so I can take it to the track. I totally get why many people are not liking the front end though, but I don't see it as a major killer. I can guarantee within weeks, there will be at least 5 body kits available for it, so if you don't like it, change it :)
The question is “What will become of INFINITI”? Nissan has abandoned INFINITI. Their sales are down 50% from two years ago and are less than their abysmal sales last year. INFINITI 3rd quarter sales could be catastrophic since they haven’t started selling the new QX60 yet and the QX55 was a limited run vehicle.
@@jessemurray1757 after the QX60 comes out they have literally no new cars in the pipeline. There are no announced plans for anything new from INFINITI after the QX60 right now.

I have to say It's such a great time to be a car enthusiast. The new Z is coming out, the new wrx sti is gonna have the fa24 and it's going to be like their older cars (i.e. very rally inspired). The gr yaris might not seem like much but it shows that toyota can still make sick cars (after everyone was disappointed with the BMW B58 engine being used), and now we see a new integra that was announced as well. I sure hope that new Pathfinder turns out to be solid. I’ve had my ‘99 Pathfinder since new and it’s still a great reliable truck even 250k miles later. I’ve been so happy with it I’d more than gladly buy another one, especially now that they seem to be turning themselves around and the Pathfinder is returning to an off-road based vehicle.
My 2013 Sentra has had a couple recalls for the passenger seat airbag sensor not working. But it was fixed quickly with a update. There are some fit issues with the dash and a pillar on the passenger side and the trim around the shifter, but *knock-on-wood* no cvt issues
I think the biggest issue was the 1 Gen CVTs. But Nissan Altima are usually a workhorse. My sister used to own a 95 and I drove it for years from Chicago to Minneapolis round trip for military drills.
My '05 Altima used to be my moms since 2004 has been through hell and back. Blown motor at 150,000 miles. Swapped it with a fresh 50,000 one. Then as soon as i did, Tranny went out at 152,000. Swapped that as well. Runs just like it did when I was a kid.
honestly a mustang mach 1 vs new z would be a pretty hard decision for me. the only thing that really pushes me towards the z more is the fact that theres no voodoo engine anymore and that ive seen some computer designs of the new z with fender flairs and fender mirrors and its sooooooooo smexyyyyyy
The backlights of new Z instantly hit me with how retro they looked, and I love that. Straight from the 80s. Here's to hoping they make a new GT-R in the future. We need a new godzilla to tear up the track, push the boundaries of automotive engineering and give every other company a run for its money. You know, what the GT-R s meant to do.
The new Z is the first Nissan to get my attention in over a decade. Even if it's around $40K I may just take a pass at one if you can indeed get it in a manual.
@@FJB2020 Honestly, rocket bunny or whoever will put out the first kit and everybody will have that front installed day one of receiving the car. And I'm all for it. You can't easily change manual/auto options and weight, you can change plastics.

Just like the new toyota supra, even if the Nissan skyline generation is gone they still continued with "GTR". You know although we may never see those original cars I can live with them modernising it.
It would fit in perfectly at a jdm meet which is all I really care about. If cars look too "modern" it doesn't do it for me. The new supra is a dope car but it just looks out of place at meet... idk it's hard to explain. I like the supra but eh

14:27 that's a drift competition here in Thailand! Sad news is the car in front isn't Godzilla, it's a A31 Cefiro, but it's still a damn cool car. Most of the drift cars here are Cefiros cuz they're cheap (compared to other RWD cars)
As outdated as the R35 is, I'd just like to say that it still looks amazing to this day imo. Even if the tech hasn't aged well, the styling definitely has
Its also going to be harder to make power on a direct injection engine compared to port injection. If they do go direct injection on the R36, there will probably be less +1000whp R36s on the streets. Fingers crossed they stay port injection and if there is a port injection kit hopefully it won’t cost an arm and a leg 🤞
Hard to say as of yet,.but looks like a good direction for them. Their bread and butter were always having a reliable engine in their trucks and cars but when they went CVT crazy it lost a lot of customers. If they go back to having simple, affordable and solid vehicles with 1 or 2 'performance" bargains they'll definitely bounce back.
They woulda held up much better with 7 or 8 spd autos, like now the Z has a new auto trans from M-B so maybe they can install those into other cars (and gear ratios for dailying). I'll always stick with the manuals but for autos I think they'd be making a good move trashing the CVT's and going with autos with gears. Unless they go talk to Koenigsegg and learn how those guys built the CVT for the Regera.
I respect Nissan, my family has had several, including a frontier, an xterra, a sentry, and two altimas. I hope, as an enthusiast, the new Z does well and shows the market that we still want fun cars with a manual. I would also like to see an R36 and maybe a budget-friendly enthusiast car to compete with the 86 and brz. If they are successful, maybe some of that may make its way to Mitsubishi and get them interested in a REAL eclipse or bringing back the lancer and Evo
@@khidorahian problem is which engines are they gonna use, new engine? lots of money will go for r&d if they do have 4 bangers that are reliable and tuner friendly like the sr20 or ca18 it might pay off

I mean, this looks like a damn good car. It could be the new Vette being around $40k unlike the actual one that starts off at $60k with $40k worth of options before dealer mark ups.
This car is absolutely getting marked up. This is the first hot car Nissan has had in over a decade, I wouldn't be surprised to see these marked up to the Supra's price range.
12:35 Love how the promotional video already has the car leaking shit out of the exhaust. Probably just water condensation, but still LOL. I want that Z doe.
Yeah the biggest killer for it was mediocre body update with some questionable hardware choices. A rare wheel bolt pattern (seriously a 6x4.5?), radiator/ transmission cooler problems, and rear springs that sagged under any weight. Maybe with the Bronco (not the Baby Bronco bs) Nissan will take a step back into market. But the new Frontier doesn't have a manual option so I don't have high hopes.
I loved the new Z look, the only thing I personally don't like about it is the rectangular front grill but that can be easily changed with a new front bumper.
I wish they did more with the pathfinder, it should have come back as a competitor to the 4runner like it was back when. On the other hand I love the new Z design and I think it has appropriate HP and I'm glad it will have a manual.
@@megasimp1024 What's sad is that I've owned the 1GenA GSX and 3Gen and loved both cars. Ever since they shut down the Normal, IL plant, I haven't been interested since.

I found this recent history of Nissan fascinating. I knew there had been some issues, but I didn't know it was that ugly. I have been viciously loyal to Nissan since I owned a '05 Sentra that I HATED, but the stupid little car just wouldn't die (until it was totalled by a drunk driver). I was sold, at that point, on Nissan for ruggedness and reliability, even if the car was pathetically slow and the seats hurt my back. When I started driving rideshare in 2018, I wanted to offer premium rides and I needed a car that was comfortable enough for me to sit in for 10-12 hours at a time. I headed straight to Nissan's upmarket brand, Infiniti. Because the recent poor reputation plummets their resale values, I got a nicely equipped 2014 QX60 for VERY cheap. The car tolerated 2000+ miles a week of bouncing around rough city streets, constant stopping/starting, and thousands of doors slamming, without breaking a sweat until it too was totalled by a drunk driver (I'm blessed to be alive). I replaced it with a FULLY loaded 2015 QX60 and discovered a fantastic refresh to the CVT from '14-'15. I still beat the car to death, and the rugged Nissan underpinnings refuse to fail me (well, with the exception of the STUPID VVCS, but that's not exclusive to Nissan. Check my channel for a video about it). As much as I love my car, it DOES feel like a car from 2013. I'm happy to see the major redesign coming for the Pathfinder, which means that the QX60 will change with it. I'm concerned about them abandoning the CVT. My car shifts like a cream puff when making the gradual changes between "gears" and the earlier issues of chatter or slow manual shifts seem to be worked out of it. I agree with Nolan. Nissan's future looks bright. I'm eager to see how it goes.
@@LeoMkII absolutely not! I don't even drink! No, I just seem to have an invisible target painted on me that only irresponsible drunken reprobates can see.
@Dale Macarena ➊ They were, but some drastic improvements were made. I can't speak about the Sentra, because I don't know if it has the same CVT as the Pathfinder/QX60. Pre-2015, Pathfinders and QX60's were prone to chattering under acceleration because the CVT belt would slip. My 2014 QX60 didn't have that issue, but it did shift sluggishly in manual mode, and sport mode was certainly not "sporty". My 2015 QX60 is an AMAZING improvement! It's buttery smooth moving between "gears". In sport mode it's snappy and SLAMS its way between them, giving the car a serious kick in the butt at each "shift". Manual mode has no third pedal, but it's still fun, which is the opposite of how it was in my 2014.
@Dale Macarena CVTs are garbage, especially Nissans. They said & even sent a letter to owners claiming they made improvements but tons of people still have had issues. If you don't yet, it's a matter of time. There is a lawsuit for up to certain '17 cars for the CVT Transmission. Idk about anything real new from them but hopefully it's gotten better
Most of the younger folks here don't remember this, but the in 1994 the Nissan Maxima was awarded Sports Sedan of the year, It was Comfy, reliable, fun to drive, safe and stylish. I believe if Nissan goes back to the drawing table and to it's ruts as they are with the Z and the Leaf, They might have a future.
I was hoping you guys would mention the new Silvia renders released by Nissan europe president of design. The next generation deserves something fun they can AFFORD. Something that could give the new integra, 86 and miata a run for their money 👀
"Look at the C8, obviously corvette" Nolan says what now? C8 is the least corvette looking corvette ever. Looks like they wanted to make an American Ferrari but the designer also liked Ford GTs
Thanks to the AMS Red Alpha Q60...the Z will be the fastest thing on the road in next summer. So they stand to have two of the greatest performance vehicles in the market. That should go a long way toward securing sales for quite some time to come.
Had a 1990 Nissan 300zx in high school, then a manual G35 after grad school, and now a 2018 GTR. Absolutely loved all of them and I do love how they kept the rear lights and overall look the same for the 400z, got to see it in person at a auto show! I also still love the look of 2017+ refreshed GTR! Nice to see the look on Tesla owners when I beat them :) Next step is getting it ready for the Tesla plaid owners, next set of mods to go in soon!
I think most of all I want a new Silvia. Maybe price it somewhere below the new Z for an even more affordable option. I can fully understand why they might be hesitant to put one out though - The full expectation by every fanboy is that it will automatically be an amazing drift car just because it has the silvia name. That kind of assumption will make it hard for them to satisfy fans if it isnt perfect But if they can design a new Silvia that can compete with the BRZ/86 in price, power, and handling they will do well. I would get one
This is such a good time for sports cars. The new 86 is looking great. Same with the z and Integra. Mustang is In a good spot. Corvette is sick. I would sell my first born for a new scat pack charger. I'm just saying. Almost every relevant company has something to offer and I actually finally have the MO ry to get something cool! Just gotta figure out which one. Z is definitely up there.
So I've got a theory, the new Z is going to be the defining factor on if Nissan would fully redesign a new S Chassis (S16). It'd of course come in at a lower price point (~$27k) than the the Z with a turbo 4cyl. Probably closer to 275-300hp. Only after turning a profit on both the Nissan Z and Nissan S, would they fully redo the GTR.
Yea that'd be dope. I hate how all RWD sports cars are all 300-400hp priced around 35-50k. The Miata and the GT86/BRZ prove that there's still a market for RWD 200-250 hp cars under 30k. I guess I could still get a Mustang or a Camaro for reasonable price.
I'd love to see the Silvia come back, but something tells me there isn't enough room in Nissan's lineup for another sports car. Frankly, the GTR doesn't sell for shit. Holding aside the generous internet hype, once people drive the Z and realize it's still basically a 370 underneath, I don't think that model will sell very well either. Pricing it against the Supra instead of against the 86 and the Mustang was a mistake. I see 5-10 BRZ/86s for every Supra I see on the road. The Z was traditionally a mass market car, not a luxury segment car. Seems like they're chasing profit margins instead of units sold.
@@redlion145 the silvia is back it's called the mustang ecoboost. I only paid 22 for mine fully loaded, six speed with 1600 miles. With a little work and about 2 grand I'm making about 400 to the wheels and 450ish torque depending on fuel quality.
I see so many Nissans on the road I don't know how they could fail except by incompetence! Everywhere I look I see an Altima, Rogue, Pathfinder or other model. Those grills are everywhere. Maybe it's just where I live but I see Nissans everywhere!

I have 2010 juke at 250,000 km the only thing that hasn’t had an issue is the CVT.
I blame the government for this 🧐😐

Is that ghosn or mr bean?
As a Nissan technician I think Nissan really has come a long way in terms of quality... Yea the cvt's had issues but now I'd say all 2018 and up vehicles we rarely ever have to replace the transmissions. Reliability has been a lot greater. I'm excited for the new Z!

I'm eager to see how it goes.
wait so you were the drunk driver?!
Team up with Mazda.
Nissan builds Silvia
Mazda makes rotary RX
@@slimmachin don’t do that. Don’t give me hope.
@@slimmachin A rotary Nissan? Eww no.
@@Lofi.z34 yeah I don't like the sound of a rotary nissan....
"Look at the C8, obviously corvette"
Nolan says what now? C8 is the least corvette looking corvette ever. Looks like they wanted to make an American Ferrari but the designer also liked Ford GTs
It's hideous
Except the C8 is more affordable and has a NA V8
No it doesn't look like a Ferrari. It is to sharp and angular. Ferrari uses much softer design language.
If you think the C8 looks like a Ferrari or a Ford GT, you are legally blind.
@@hawaiian_hugo_stiglitz7583 call me Stevie Wonder then I guess
Now that Gary Oldman got his oscar I feel like the internet should champion Sam Rockwell, that guy is amazing in every role he does!
I’m gonna get one of theses
This is one the best looking cars in years 400Hp seems a lil light But I’m so excited
Finally we have a new Z, next a new GT-R and then bring back the S platform. We need a new Silvia to complete the holy trinity
Yeah something to kick the Frs/brz in the pants and get a rivalry going! When companies compete, it only makes the products better!
A refreshed look on the S2000 would be epic and send the BRZ/FRS/86 to the curb!! THAT is what I'm waiting for!!! 👌
AYE NII - SAN WHEN IS S16
@@Warrison_ that SHOULD be the ultimate drift car!! 🤘
@@cwmk4229 you realise the S2000 was a Honda, right?
I wanna see them finally give us that Bluebird concept, that is all.
"around $40,00" [11:13]
Someone in editing forgot a 0
No, when they said affordable, they REALLY meant affordable
@@Totalimmortal93 I really hope so XD
Can’t wait to see these on the roads
I think most of all I want a new Silvia. Maybe price it somewhere below the new Z for an even more affordable option. I can fully understand why they might be hesitant to put one out though - The full expectation by every fanboy is that it will automatically be an amazing drift car just because it has the silvia name. That kind of assumption will make it hard for them to satisfy fans if it isnt perfect
But if they can design a new Silvia that can compete with the BRZ/86 in price, power, and handling they will do well.
Z is definitely up there.
so true. only major disappointment for me has been the new, more bloated than ever, Subie WRX. hope theyll make a turn-around soon
“around $40,00” I’d pay 4 grand for a 400z 🤩
fuck rent lets get cars!
if they could match the base price of a mustang gt then they would sell the crap out of those.
@@cavemanvi Fuck yea! Who needs a house to go home to when you've got parking lots for car meets??
I'd pay 4 grand too.
That's $4,000, bud.
Isn't '40,00' forty euros? 🤔
They need to come out with a new Sentra se-r to go against the si. Or even better a spec - v to go against the type r 😬
True
very good idea if they can make it
Look up 1994sentra SE-R. Very fun car to drive. Super light at 2364 pounds
No chance in hell you’d see a price tag under $30k if they did that. $24k is mitsubishi dog turd price range lol
We need the skyline back
@@redlion145 the silvia is back it's called the mustang ecoboost.
