You might have to free up the built-in internal storage by clearing cache or uninstalling apps on internal storage that can't be moved to a flash drive.
Before I buy the setup, can you confirm if apps installed on the usb drive can be used directly from internal storage without lag, buffering and so on? Or do we have to keep moving apps around from usb to stick and back?

@RASIEL ANGELOS DUARTE RAIMUNDO DOS SANTOS Thank you. I tried a usb 64gb 3.1 plug in but the firestick couldn't find it. I wonder before I buy an ssd if there is some process for the stick to see it.
Just bought the cable and a thumb drive and have watched this video several times. Either you are leaving some details out that are important or there is a breakdown in communication. The part where you go to “manage installed applications” is where you are able to move the app. I’ve checked every app on my fire stick and none of them have the option to move to external storage. Guess I’ll watch other videos and find all the directions.
You'll need to format the drive as internal storage to move apps. Main issue for me, is that the drive won't be readable from a Windows PC. If you format as external storage, it makes it a fat 32 drive which is readable, but you won't be able to move apps to it.
My problem is I have tried to add a SansDisk 32gb drive to my 3 tv's with Firesticks. The oldest of the 3 recognizes the USB stick, but the other 2 do not recognize it. They are all formatted in FAT32. What could I be missing?
Okay, how about what to do when the FireStick refuses to list the drive? (It DOES see the drive THERE, when I unplug it, it whines about how I should go to USB Drive to disconnect it - without mentioning it should be in About, which is what I had to look this video up for - then next time it said I had to format so I did, then my computer wouldn't recognize it any more until I fixed it). Rebooting, unplugging the power and replugging it in, NOTHING will make the Storage option do anything other than list the storage on the Stick itself. No USB Stick options. Oh, and if I try to search "USB" to find it, the idiot stick only searches apps and finds the broken File Explorer (installing it, I start it, it says it detects a higher version is available, shows an ad video - jarring to see things move on their own - with Pause, Done, and Upgrade buttons. Pause pauses the dumb video at least, Upgrade ends up just bringing me to the Home screen, Done reloads the page and restarts the useless video. So, no ability to USE the app). Apparently I found a different File manager at one point, THAT sees the USB Stick, I was able to copy a subtitle file to the virtual storage to use it, using that file being what I was trying to do but unfortunately a little indirect due to this app being the only thing to SEE the USB Stick. How do I get the FireStick to admit that the USB Stick is there? It seems like I have to unplug power every time I want to disconnect the USB Stick if I don't want it to get corrupted!
Is there a maximum file size that can be added to the thumb drive? The method I used before would only read files smaller than 4 GB. Does formatting via the Firestick option get rid of this problem?
It depends on the file system the thumb drive is formatted in. The default FAT32 allows a maximum of 4GB file size. But exFAT and NTFS take bigger sizes.
