I ordered the exact items that were listed and connected everything as shown in the video. I followed all the instructions in this video and the longer video, I pre-charged the Mission power cable for longer than 10 minutes before installing, but the fire stick will not recognize the drive. I did notice anytime I connect the drive, the fire stick would reboot, then it does not show the drive as connected. This does not happen with a thumb drive. I also checked the drive on my computer and it is functioning fine. I have also plugged the Mission cable into a wall plug to be sure it wasn’t the USB on my tv. Is it possible I have a defective Mission cable? Both blue lights on the Mission cable illuminate when it’s plugged in and it does power the fire stick and the drive light is on. I’ve tried this on two 4K Max fire sticks. Any thoughts?
Did you use the Seagate Slim drive? The people that didn't it would reboot like you describe. Many got the wrong seagate. We put the link in the description of this video. Very specific. Will work fine
I purchased everything on the list you provided and followed the instructions to the t and after a few hours the external drive started flashing then turned off. I thought the drive was bad so I ordered a new one and it does the same thing. Then I checked the mission power cable and saw that after I shut the tv off he goes off to. I then turned the tv on again and the power cable came on again and the external drive started working for about an hour then started flashing again and shut off. I’m wondering if the mission power cable was supposed to stay on when the tv is off because is not doesn’t matter where is plugged in the back of the tv. So what I’m trying to figure out is that the mission power cable is supposed to be on all the time even when the tv is off or not. If the mission power cable has to be on then it really needs a power cable connected to power the whole time thus not eliminating the power cable. Either that or the mission power cable is bad and not keeping the charge or power while the tv is off.
It’s a power issue. So either you didn’t pre-charge the mission cable before first use and instructed, or your usb power in the tv isn’t sufficient to maintain charge. You can bypass the usb on your tv and just use the outlet, but you will need an extension cord. We have a full troubleshooting video on the channel. Did you attempt to watch it? Or are you new to the channel and didn’t see it?
Amazon in US and Canada do not have the Mission Power cable in stock and do not know if they will be getting anymore. Could you show how to add extra storage just useing a USB. So we can add some storage until they ever get the mission power cable. Thanks

Will the 4TB-6TB hard drives shown when you follow your link work as well, or is there a problem with anything bigger than a 2TB?
No it won't work. WAY TOO MUCH power draw. That's why I show max 2TB in the video. ONLY slim drives work as well. So don't get anything else
I ordered the Toshiba Canvio Basic 2TB HDTB520XK3AA and im having a hard time getting the fire stick to connect to it, is it the wrong drive? I do have the power boost cable and the OTG cable
Did you use the link in our description section? Just want to make sure. Canvio has worked for some, but only with mission cable recharged and a usb with more power. Otherwise seagate slim is the way to go
Hi: thank you for your advise I did find the link to setup my Seagate Backuo Plus Slim, now I'm wondering if i got the correct storage unit, it would be nice if there were an option allowing your subscribers to attach photos so that we could send you a photo so we can verify we have the correct product, I'm on my second Seagate i think I got the correct one this time, i should know very quickly within the next several days, I'm 70 plus years old and I'm not savvy with these modern day gadgets even with the instructions and videos, it seems when going over the instructions i always get something something on my end thats not mentioned in the istructions or video, but again I thank you for your assistance, I really enjoy your video's.

Hi there, I did everything you suggested regarding the new Fire TV 4k max, from the two day sale. But I’ve had no alerts at all. I’m concerned because those units here in Canada are $79:00, and would really like to get one.
The new max never went on sale, just the older models.
So I purchased all the suggested items and installed them as you described. The setup worked great for 3 days, then on day 4, the Stick went into reboot mode. I followed your reboot fix actions and reattempted your add storage directions, however, the Stick doesn't "see" the additional storage. Suggestions?
That’s means either you didnt precharge the mission cable or your tv USB isn’t powerful enough to keep it charged. Eliminate the mission cable and run an extension cord to power it from your outlet. It’s likely your tv usb and you can’t do anything about that.
The usb hub you linked has an OTG cable included. Do i need the other OTG adapter as well?

Can you actually run the apps moved to or installed on the added drive when configured as internal?

You responded to my earlier comment about not being able to add storage and suggested that I find a more recent video on the subject. I found one from about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, it still didn't help. Another note, under storage external storage doesn't show up. Only internal storage. I tried another firestick and it sort of worked

What drive did you purchase, did you precharge the mission cable for 10 min prior, does that tv have a strong enough usb power output. These are all questions that video will help you with. Also you can reach out on patreon for a private video. Best of luck
Question i do have a 4k firestick but mines is older is the diamond shape type does that still work

I believe 2TB is all it can handle. Likely will loop. I tried multiple 4 and 5TB drives without success

I've not tried it, but this one seems to be the generic version of the same cable. You can give it a shot and return it if doesn't work. But it looks like it should. amzn.to/46RHHlV
On the value of this video I bought all of the featured gadgets to get the 2 TB storage with powered usb connection on the new firestick 4k Max
Before I tried this I transferred all of the apps to the internal drive but having trouble moving them to the new 2tb drive. (but I just reinstalled them and it is all right) HOWEVER, I use X-plore but it doesn’t see the 2TB Seagate so I cant move content to it (in X-plore) but I never had a problem with this with smaller usb drives… any thoughts?.. PS same for ES file explorer
Why move it with x-plore? The 4K max you can just select it to move as long as you installed with aptoide? All these extra apps to transfer files make it harder
X-plose doesnt even see the 2tb seagate but the firestick does see it... that is my issue
I understand. The 4k max doesn't use x-plore. There are posts about it in the forums. That's old tech.
Can I use a 1TB HARD DRIVE AND WHAT IS THE BEST SEAGATE HARD DRIVE TO USE WITH THIS SET UP AND ITEM # ??
Use the link we put in the description and then select the 1TB drive. The drive I show has both with the same link
Wont work with 2TB SS drive,also I did what you said and bought everything i needed and put 256GB thum drive its shiws up on firestick ,but cant seen to put programs on the external drive ? can you explain my problem?
You are correct. That's why I did this video. You can't use the SSD, have to use the seagate one and you can't use a 256Gb thumb drive. All this is discussed in the video. I would return everything and get the correct items. We have the links for you.

I did a step by step ,I think you showed in your previous video a thum drive, but I'm not sure ok, so I need the Seagate drive ,but all I need is 1TB for extra storage. I'M using the 8K 4k max.
Yeah, but you chose the wrong drives. If you click the Seagate link in the description you can select 1TB or 2TB

I will once the Seagate goes out of stock. it's more expensive than the Seagate and seagate seems to work better (faster).

No, this was a benefit of the Max series. The rumor is they are coming out with a new Cube Max that can next year.

Can anybody give an update on what drives will work? I clicked on the link provided and didn't realize that amazon suggested an alternative that was in stock, seagate portable (not the backup plus slim) and it goes through with the format on the firestick screen but when it finishes it shows no USB drive installed. And then on a restart it will see that a drive is connected and once again offer to format it...getting nowhere. I'm not using the mission power cord as i thought that plugging into the wall with the amazon plug would cover my power needs, am i wrong?
You need the mission cable regardless.

How long does it take the Firestick to format that USB drive? A 1 TB is taking forever
Depends on the drive speed. Ours took 40 seconds. Seagate one touch is the way to go
Why do you use the usb hub, couldn't you just connect the slimdrive to the USB socket on the thing you plugged into the firestick?
Because many people use the ethernet portion of the hub or have external keyboards they want to use with the browser. Since it's less than $10, it's a no brainer upgrade. If you just use the OTG adapter you can't do the ethernet hard wire option.
I set up everything with the same equipment, but lose Ethernet connection when connected. Please could you check that you still have wired connection when all is connected…I can only have wi-fi
We do.. That's a hub issue. Did you use the hub from our link? Not all work with firesticks

Does this actually increase the RAM of the firestick ? Because in addition to storage of apps, adequate RAM is required to avoid excessive buffering during streaming
Increases storage. Firestick processor RAM is plenty to handle any app. As long as you have the 4k max

Technically yes, however you will need to add additional programs. We have a video explaining it on the channel from a couple years ago. Same process. Not as easy to access content or apps as the Max (that's the selling point of the Max stick).

We have a video on the process in an older video. Maybe 3 years old. You need an additional program and cannot run the apps directly from the drive, only move stuff or record to it. That’s the benefit of a 4k max. Internal storage upgrades
Can you use a hub with a gigabit ethernet port?
You can use this hub we recommend just fine with any router. Just remember that the max speed you will get on a firestick hard wired is 100 mbps. So weigh your options.

Brand new can still be corrupt. Did you get the seagate One Touch Slim? It's the only one that works with the firestick properly. Also the mission power cable needs to be precharged.
