It is just INCREDIBLE that we can just search on RUclips to find all this information. We are truly living in the Golden Era of communucation and knowledge sharing!
First off, new angle is SWEET. Secondly, thank you for this video my man! We have neglected treatments in the past but you've lit a fire inside to go all out with them!
This is just perfect timing! I'm pitching my documentary in five days and was preparing the proposal. Thank you Mark, you have been a big inspiration and an outstanding teacher on my filmmaking journey. Greetings from Venezuela 🇻🇪
Wow the timing on this video couldn't have been more better for me! As a second year film student, I'm most concerned for upcoming pitching processes. Thanks to you, I've got a little more confidence now that'll help get my story green lit. :)
Literally this video came out in perfect timing. Currently trying to find ways of how to pitch to businesses about my ideas I have for them and this seems like it will help out a lot!
As always, so helpful and inspiring. Even for me, as an old sock who's goin´ to retire next year, you are so motivational and informativ . I hope lots of young filmmakers listen to you. You are a wonderful personalty, so I will follow your work. Thanks!
The exact video I needed TODAY - took a break from bigger projects and pitching work since covid and just getting back in the game. Now to bombard agencies with my new portfolio 🤣
Absolutely love your videos Mark. You are a leading inspiration to myself and the production company I'm running. I'm a Director of Photography by study but you have taught me how to become a storyteller and use the camera as a vessel. Thank you for the important tips you share. ALL of them are invaluable.
It's interesting than what comes to film industry, there seems to be so many bs spreaders like a flies in Lappland during the summer. One says to build fancy spancy looking good knows how thick deck, one says 3-5 pages max! This channel is a very rare "animal" that there's no bs around.
Every time See your videos I always learn something new. You are like the best teacher to me Mark thank you for the efforts and time you give in your videos. Thank You Mark
You were saying in tip 2 for the product you should consider how does it work. You also mention this in tip 3 for execution as well and I don't really understand the difference. 0:34 0:46 Thanks.
6 months late and I needed this video more than ever. Quick question though. Can you pitch videos to clients directly? Without having been reached out by a 3rd party agency?
On point mate we do this every trip can we find gold will we get to the locations and what will we break in the attempt ,last trip we broke 4 bikes outa 5 found gold got horrendously lost and had a bloody ball hehe living the dreams one thing making a good vid is the tricky bit ,hope ya well bro cheers
Mark, I love your content! I have an idea for a doc in my head on my collage basketball coach who now coaches high school but got cancer a year ago. I have ideas of the journey to get what he wants and all of the theoretical stuff but how do I go up to someone and say “hey, can I make a doc of your journey to get a championship with your basketball team as you battle cancer?” How do you pitch to your subject that they should do a doc?
Becca are you in theartofdocumentary.com ? We have a bunch of videos about how to approach people to be in your film. The main principal is meet them as human first, no camera and then pitch them on the vision of the film, as a filmmaker second
Do you have a video explaining the process of how to make money out of documentaries? How to get distribution etc, the best places to get distribution, do you make the doc first then try and get it distributed or do you get distribution on the back of the pitch etc, How to structure the deals etc?
Hi Mark. I really liked your explanation of pitch decks. But I didn't quite understand what is your business. Are you a commercial producer? Director? Are your services available for hire?
Who am I contacting in order to start the process of presenting my pitch deck? Am I going after the sales team? Marketing team? Who is the person I reach out to in order to set up this meeting to even start presenting?
Awesome as usual! How do you typically discover these potential opportunities to create pitch decks about? For instance how did you know that this agency was in need of a beer commercial? Thanks so much in advance.
Hey Mark - some of the links on your Gear List are going to 404 pages: MAIN LENSE, MAIN LIGHT Curious to know what light your using - can you drop an updated link?
This is so helpful. I imagine that after starting the conversation following the pitch is when budget is brought up? Or is it typically tacked to the final portion of the treatment?
What if it's a story about a product? lol Whether they have a 'problem' or not. Not everyone does, or is easy to figure out a problem especially for more established brands.. but, I'm trying to target brands to use their product(s), with a story -- this is also mainly told with photography as I don't do much video
Typically the pitches come through your personal connections or if you're "represented" by a production company. Sometimes companies will do job postings on Facebook, Linked In, Fiver
We need more "GOOD" content on this subject in the RUclips space. Thanks Mark! Video saved...
More to come!
In a sea of clickbait nonsense there's Mark delivering calm, professional, engaging education. We appreciate you! (AOD member here!)
I´ve looked EVERYYWHERE for info on this subject but I had not found anything that solved my problem with pich deks like this. Thank you Mark!
Yeah it’s elusive isn’t it? Hope this helped
You hit the nail on the head. I've been working with a tv network in LA and this is fundamentally how every doc pitch starts.
