    Roller / Slip test note: Whatever mode you are on, this car will rip the tarmac to get you where you want to go! Even if the reverse test results were not a perfect score, it's when you go forward with that Subaru STI that matters! Yes, the WRX STI will sometimes roll on the side of the rollers because the front wheel would push the car sideways, it's normal because the car is sending power to that wheel! For the ultimate traction, put the C.diff in lock mode and enable Track-mode.

      @RChero1010 2 года назад +5

      @@jmboberg6 don't compare a WRX and a WRX STI like that. There are a number of significant differences.
      An STI not only has a drastically stronger gearbox but it has a limited slip front differential, a dccd/limited slip center differential, and often a different type of limited slip rear diff. A WRX (manual) will just have a smaller lsd in the back and sometimes the center, with an open diff in the front.
      Even more unfortunately is that all 2015+ subarus have open diffs all around except for the old faithful STI

    • @pgrcadventures1414
      @pgrcadventures1414 2 года назад +2

      @@RChero1010 Owned a 2016 WRX and now a 2020 STI so I can speak on their differences. Even though the 2015+ WRX are open diff front, rear and center it uses the braking system to individually control wheel speed on each corner allowing the computer to direct the power where it needs to go. For instance, if all three corners on the WRX are free spinning due to low traction, the computer would see the three wheel speeds higher than one and will apply the brakes to those 3 wheels causing power to immediately divert to the one tire with traction. This allows them to get away with open diffs while having great AWD capability. The STI on the other hand uses LSD's to lockup the drivetrain and deliver power to all 4's no matter what.

      Id have to say it's actually not very surprising at all. There is nearly no weight on the back of the WRX and the STI. This is why instead of finding traction it'll just spin. Traction just gets defeated to easily.

      @STR33TZK1NG 2 года назад +1

      @@layne4376 I own a 15 WRX with a ton of work done to it. Trust me I know the platform.
      The laws of physics don't care how capable a car is. When the only tire making traction doesn't have the weight over it necessary. It will not be able to move a vehicle that weights 3400lbs.
      Which is why you see when the car is in reverse and 3 wheels are on the rollers and the one tire making traction is on the rear you get what you saw. The tire will just keep on spinning.
      But don't worry I don't know what I'm talking about.

    As a Subaru owner this was kinda bad tbh especially for a trim car like this… there was too much wheel before the other wheel or wheels would kick in… and in a real world situation that time matters as well as constant grip… and let’s be honest if you own this car you’re not gonna go easy on it majority of the time.
    Could explain why they are a lot more crashes wrx’s and sti’s in junkyards now.

  • @cndctrdjful

    great that you did the test. but why are you dumping the clutch. why not just drive it normal? also most of those test were fails. the car would slide to the side and grip the outside edge of the test equipment for grip. almost seems like you guys tried really hard to make this car seem better than it is

      We do no try to do a pass on something that will fail. This kid of comments is and insult to what we do!
      As we said in the comments: enabling Track mode, reduce the TCS intervention on our roller test that nearly got the car to die on the roller even at full throttle in the situation where you see track mode enable. We send the power required to get the car running so it wont stall on the roller.

    Not accurate test. Kinda wasted time testing the car this time imo. sti stock summer tires seem to just slide until one of them touches fixed metal frame. That's why it's exiting the rollers out not straight line unlike other SUV roller tests. But no doubt, subie will get out any rollers easily any day.
