    Thank you for this!!! I can finally show my bud that had the Turbo Impreza WRX why his Subaru did NOT get stuck and why my OPEN DIFFERENTIAL Subaru always got stuck during the winter season even with winter tires.

    I'm not surprised by these results. This test is very accurate.

    The brake trick is tough to show, its very subtle and really only helps that extra tiny little bit. I used the handbrake recently off-road on a car setup like the subaru and in one case it was just enough, but in another case it tried but it wasn't enough.

    To me Quattto equals Torsen. Torsen, due to worm gears and worm wheels will never dominate rollers, but will remain the best real life implementation of non-locking center and axle diff. Future is about axle specific electrical motors, but to me the worm gear and wheel mechanical combination was something special. And has delivered, endlesly in Nordics.

      To me, quattro equals over twenty types of awd systems 🙂

      Yes, Quattro with Torsen or Crown center diff are the what you can become in normal car. No reaction time, seamless power transmission between front and rear axle. No other system can do this without a fixed locked center diff.

    Przydałby sie taki teścik, ale z Subaru z DCCD i np. Evo z ACD.

    Test the hand brake / foot brake trick where it can actually have an effect...
    I thought it was the Audi that had a torsen if any.... Not the Subaru....

    • @4x4.tests.on.rollers
      @4x4.tests.on.rollers  Год назад

      Center diff in Audi is torsen. The only Audi in history which had torsen on axle was V8. Brake trick didn't work there: ruclips.net/video/R10r396Laho/видео.html

      @@4x4.tests.on.rollers ...by using the hand brake?
      Foot brake will likely not work. Since it applies far more brake to front. So front wheel with grip will likely just stop the car from moving regardless.
      Did the center diff "lock" without having to use the brakes?

    • @4x4.tests.on.rollers
      @4x4.tests.on.rollers  Год назад

      @@martinsvensson6884 Footbrake. We didn't try the handbrake cause we have no info how would that effect the operation of center diff, we didn't want to burn it.

    • @martinsvensson6884
      @martinsvensson6884 Год назад

      @@4x4.tests.on.rollers Should be able to handle that. Same as if you brake the other axle with foot brake. You're not going to stand there and grind it for minutes.

    • @4x4.tests.on.rollers
      @4x4.tests.on.rollers  Год назад

      @@martinsvensson6884 It's not the same. Footbrake slows down both axles so not much is happening in center diff. Handbrake would slow down rear axle and nobody knows how would the diff react, would it go open or would it try to lock itself. Risky thing for 1988 car.

    that's way to much throttle in real life😏 and even cars with 2 wheel drive don't get stuck on spot like that 😏 at least here in europe 😏

    • @4x4.tests.on.rollers
      @4x4.tests.on.rollers  Год назад +2

      That depends on what surface you are, what conditions are there etc. In this case, for Subaru it doesn't make any difference. For Audi it does, at lower throttle systems won't kick in.
