A great review, thanks for the support. You should be able to take the spirit level out of the tray by the way so you can also use it on your DSLR (a handy tip from Lomo Uk staff) xx

Thank you. I believe I show the spirit level removal early in the video. I just used the other one later as I happen to have it.
I'm thoroughly enjoying using it and have since scanned a few more rolls.

Really interesting Che. Thanks. I haven't tried anything like this yet. I do have an A4 light panel, and some extension tubes for my Pentax, but the K100d is only 6MP's 🙄 I do have one of the all in one, slide/neg to SD card, but that doesn't do 120 film. Be interesting to know what dslr camera you're using, and consequently, the final resolution.

Provided you can fill the frame you'll still get decent results with 6mp. My old Minolta 35mm scanner which was state of the art for home scanning 15 years ago is only about 5.6mp at the highest res.
I'm currently using a Canon EOS RP which is a full frame 26mp, after cropping and trimming etc it's 20 ish but when photographing negatives you can only zoom so much before seeing grain. When I had my darkroom I never printed 35mm above 10x8 for this reason.
This camera is the first 'upgrade' I've had in years, prior to this I was using an EOS M for video and my old 30D 8mp for photo which I was quite happy with. It was mainly wanting the flip and tilt screen for video that prompted the new one.

The Essential film holder is UK based and cheaper, you should have a look! It comes with masks and a stand for your camera

Thanks, I've had a quick Google and read through the website.
I'd personally like to see it in detail to ascertain the situation with hand pulling the film through because after all friction is friction and my home made system despite my using a low friction material for the mask did occasionally leave marks.
It's a very good price for the item but doesn't actually work out cheaper as you have to add a light panel (suggested is £30 from Amazon) and if you wanted a panoramic mask that's extra.
I'd certainly be happy to look at one but having just bought this I'm not in a position to buy another to try unfortunately.
