      It was supposed to be sarcasm, but maybe I was too straight in my delivery. The watch is almost as accurate as a Quartz watch. I find I can leave it until I adjust the date before I need to adjust the time difference. I have other chronometer watches but they are not even close to the Rolex. Thanks for watching.

    I have exactly the same watch - have never been asked “is it real” and for accuracy - it’s a mechanical watch, the fact that it can stay within 1 or 2 secs a day is remarkable. Scratches - first cut is the deepest, but I’d rather be wearing it with pride rather than looking at it in a case.

    • @Paullebbon

      Thanks for watching. I live in Asia and so everyone is wearing an iced out Rolex, only tourists buy the cheap replicas and so as a foreigner I get asked that question more than I should. I was joking about the accuracy of the watch, it is incredible how accurate it is. Scratches bother me because as you are probably aware the luxury watch market prices have risen more over the last couple of years and the price gets lowered with each new scratch, so care is needed more than an all steel sports watch. Enjoy your watch my friend.

    When someone ask me if my Rolex is real, I always tell them "no, it's a Hong Kong knockoff". This shuts them up immediately and keeps them from asking if they can handle it, and possibly dropping or scratching it unintentionally. Rolex users don't ask other Rolex users if their watch is a real Rolex. Once you own one, you learn the nuances just by looking. No need to ask.

    • @Paullebbon
      @Paullebbon  2 года назад +3

      Yes, you're right. I will try that next time. I hate letting people look at my watch and have even had one friend pretend to drop it and then laugh maniacally like it was funny. I didn't think so. Anyway, enjoy your watch and don't care what others think. Thanks for watching.

    Where did you hear about the soap thing? It says in the Rolex manual to use warm water and soap for cleaning...

    • @Paullebbon
      @Paullebbon  3 года назад +4

      The salesman at the Rolex boutique went through a few things before I bought the watch. From memory he said, "When swimming in the sea or in a pool wash the watch afterwards with clean fresh water. You can shower with the watch, but Rolex advise not to have a bubble bath while wearing the watch as the soap can harden the rubber seals over time". I hope this clears things up and thanks for watching.

      @@Paullebbon How does soap "harden the rubber seals" when they are protected with the crown in the fully down position? Rolex advises not to wear their watches in a hot tub but I haven't seen anything where they advise not to wear in a bath or shower.

    • @Paullebbon
      @Paullebbon  3 года назад

      I was told by the Rolex Salesperson and in the manual it does state a similar thing. “After swimming in the ocean make sure to wash the watch under clean fresh water thoroughly” , “Should not be worn while bathing.”Taking a shower is no problem at all, taking a bath means subjecting the watch to abnormal temperature changes and is not advised. I have been told that Rolex uses special seals that should not harden due to soap, but at the end of the day it is your choice. I am not Bill Gates and so saving up a very long time to buy my dream watch means I can chose not to wear it in the bath or shower. It cost me £8.690 and I baby it. The price now has gone up to almost £10.000 so it now sits comfortably in my safe. I just can’t give advice like some viewers have on here. “Rolex is bulletproof, just wear it! “. “Enjoy the watch, it is fine at the beach”. To those people I say, “You enjoy it your way. I am fine the way I am.” Thanks for watching.

    This video started off strong with some legitimate concerns ... but went downhill quickly. I feel like you actually LOVE this watch and you were reaching for items to list on this video purely to release content. The points about the glass and accuracy are a bit ridiculous. What are you doing with your watch that you're concerned about smashing the glass? This is not an issue exclusive to the DJ then, literally applies to EVERY luxury watch. Accuracy? It's performing well within Rolex's standards of +/- 2 secs per day. You bought a mechanical watch and you're upset about 1 sec per day deviation? Stick to your Garmin. My experience with modern Rolex (currently own 2) is they've usually lost about 1 sec PER WEEK. They build a fine a watch...

    • @Paullebbon
      @Paullebbon  4 года назад +4

      The DJ is one of the finest Swiss watches around. I wear it daily and love it so much it has ruined my watch collection, because I just cannot take it off. This video was about the 5 things I dislike about wearing my watch. (Yes, it covered most gold or two tone luxury watches and that it the whole point). Sapphire crystal is ultra scratch proof but if you drop it face down or knock it hard against a wall it can smash like an egg. The comparison between it and a Garmin (sold already) was about the Bezel only, some luxury watches have better protection, but a DJ has a raised sapphire crystal. The accuracy part of the video was actually a complement to the time keeping and not a complaint, but you obviously missed my humour. You did get the main point of my video though, I Love this watch and I had to make a 5 things I dislike video because I just couldn't make a 5 things I love about it, more like 50.000 things. Thanks for watching.

    • @Paullebbon
      @Paullebbon  3 года назад

      You are not wearing it enough. If you only wear it 3 hours per day then leave it in one position it will lose or gain seconds much more. If it is brand new of course. If you bought it used and it is over 7 years old then get it serviced as soon as you can, or it could cause more damage. If it is new, wear it all of the time for a month and see how many seconds it is out. I hope this helps and let us know what happens. Thanks for watching.

      @@michaeltihon3485 I have a DJ41 and it looses 2 secs a day and it accumulates so at the end of the week will be more. I called the service center in NYC after trying those positions with no luck. The rep said that those positions doesn't work in the current 3235 caliber. That the watch needs to be worn at least 10hrs/day which I do. But for that price I find it annoying. Specially when I can regulate my Omega Speedmaster Racing 2 Counters and keep it in sync with my phone. I tested the Speedy for 3 weeks and was pretty much within 1 sec or 0. To gain I laid it up and to slow it down I put it on the side with the crown down. After I found which one did what I alternated the positions every night. At the end of 3 weeks it was in perfect sync with my phone's time. Not beating on Rolex but just saying my personal experience. My comment about "is it real?" has gotten so many people to write hateful remarks over the years, I feel I should clarify a little more. I live in south east Asia, and you can buy a replica (Fake) Rolex for less than a monthly subscription to Netflix. This is why when people do notice you wearing a nice watch they usually ask if it is real, with a little nod and a wink.
      I agree with you about the reading glasses, I can see the date and time fine on my Rolex, but I need my glasses to see anything on my Apple Watch. As far as Star Trek is concerned, if you watch a few more of my videos you will see I wore it only a few times, it was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever worn and I sold it back to the jewelry shop from where I purchased it. I am pretty sure William Shatner would have loved it though. Thanks for watching and have a nice weekend.

      Hi, there have been many movements over the years and they had differing BPH (Beats per hour or vibrations) early watches had a lower ticking speed of about 18,000bph, this changed in the 1980's to 19,800bph and again later on with modern Rolex watches ticking at 28,800bph. So yes you should hear a difference between the watches. I am just an enthusiast and not an expert though and so if you are really in doubt please take your watch to a main dealership and ask them to check it for you. (Do not take it to a local watch repair shop as they may not know what they are looking at or have the right machine to open the watch case. Never go by the diamonds because the small diamonds use around the dial are not worth as much as they appear. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

      I get what you mean, but it is a watch at the end of the day. I don't believe you need to be a prince or a rapper to wear a nice watch. I could understand an expensive designer suit or shoes, but you can wear a watch with t-shirt and shorts, in the pool or just sitting at home watching TV. The person asking is it real maybe the real problem. A rich person or a well educated person would never ask if it is real. People who ask usually wear a fake Omega or no watch at all. And if you're really unlucky a thief checking it out for later in the evening. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your Rolex and thanks for watching.

      They have some great deals on thewatchatchbox.com and you can pick up a 4 year old or older for about £2500 and upwards for a steel date-just and £5000 upwards for a two tone like mine. Be careful of older watches though as they had hollow links and in turn much less gold in the straps, also those straps stretch and become weaker.The new straps have solid straps that weigh a lot more and are much stronger. If you are in the USA you will of course get even better deals as the prices are even lower. Thanks for watching.

    Some of these really aren't problems related to the specific watch. Is it real? Virtually all Rolex models provoke that question. Theft? That's what insurance is for. Accuracy? 1-2 seconds per day for a mechanical watch is world class. Glass? Rolexes all have sapphire crystals and you would really have to smack that glass hard to crack let alone break it.

Maybe people think you wouldn’t be able to purchase this watch. Glass breaking? Clumsy. Scratches? It happens...it’s a watch and if you wear it it happens. Theft? Be smarter about it.

    Your pet peeve #1 is targeted incorrectly; you are not peeved with the watch. You have the wrong "friends." #2. Shiny things scratch. Quitcherwhining. To have the inevitible hair-line scratches show less, trade the two-tone for an all-stainless. #3. Unless the design of the watch's crystal standing above its bezel is your complaint, which is frankly absurd, then you are again targeting incorrectly; your complaint is about your own worry. Solution: sell the Rolex. Spend the money on therapy, while you wear your Garmin. #4. This is another good reason to sell the Rolex and just wear your Garmin. #5. Sell it. Just wear your quartz watch.
