Great suggestions. And thanks for reminding everyone how expensive Super Potato is haha. It's a fun "museum" type store, but always look elsewhere first.
As a tourist, super potato has been my favorite spot. Whatever you are looking for you are pretty much guaranteed to find it there. Not worth spending a day looking for a few games to save a few bucks if you only have a week in Japan, too many other things to do there.
I would def agree with you. That's why I showed 4 shops only around Akihabara. However, if you are staying longer and are really into thrift shopping and want to save a bit of money then stores like hard off, book off and Nakano Broadway are great options.
going to somewhere away from tourists spots but are still large places that have book off and other second hand places are also great. examples are Mizonokuchi and Tachikawa
As a elite old gamer I must tell you only PS 2 console & PS 2 games you can buy because the PS 2 graphic are ok & classic fun to play at home but PS 1 graphic are damn ugly( Resident evil 1 from PS 1 have shift to PC resident evil HD remastered) . PS 2 games can be shift to computer by rip to iso and play using a software call PS 2 emulator.
Solid guide! I'm travelling to Japan next month and I'm looking to buy an unopened Gameboy Color with Pokemon Crystal bundle. Are they also offering Pokemon games that are in English?
Akihabara, and Tokyo in general are some of the worst spots to buy retro games, they know their customer base, collectors, and like sellers in the western half of the world, they have inflated their prices accordingly. Long gone are the days of going into the main shops there, and finding something of value and good for cheap. One guy I know who lives over there, Scruffy Looking RGB, once found a 500 yen copy of Doremi Fantasy SFC, a game worth multiple times that much (I believe I saw one early in the video, at 3:22 above the copy of Captain Commando on the right side).
Hey man, I do agree with you, but this video is more for people just traveling in Japan for a couple of days. Most of them don't have time or don't know where to look for cheaper stores. You need to know the area really well to find them. However, if you live here then you have way more time to explore different stores in order to find what you want at the cheapest price.

Thanks man! Yes, Super Potato is great, but very expensive. People have more chances to find good stuff in any Hard off for example :)

Loved the video! Thanks for all the useful information! My goal is to go to Japan one day and pick up one of those limited edition Pikachu gameboys.
Thanks a lot! :) Hopefully you can go to Japan one day and get those limited editions :)
What shop do you recommend to buy stuff like unopened Gameboys or Pokemon Gameboy Games in their original packaging? :)
Hey man :) You could go to any ''Hard off shop'' they sometimes have unopened ones.
Have you ever came across a N64DD ? Would love to know what they retail for in Japan
Yeah plenty of them. It really depends if they come with the box and their quality. I would say between $30 to 100$
Im looking for gamecube, gameboy advance sp, micro and retro backlit calculator.
You can def find that in these stores :)
@@MattFinds many thanks
Be careful, some gbp’s lcd screen has been fixed with polarizing film.
Nice video! Are there also gbc games in english?
Thanks a lot! Most games are mostly in Japanese, but yes I saw a couple in English too :)

Thanks a bunch! It's very rare to see video games in English in Japan :(

Went to retrogamecamp today and the cheapest gameboy they had was 12000¥ and most expensive 20000¥
Do you know if the had any gameboy advance sp??
They probably increase the prices after reopening the border. But you can def find some in Hard Off for much cheaper :)
how to buy gameboy in this shop?
which one? 1,2,3 or 4?

I think you can go to the 2nd floor and ask the staff to show you the game boys.
@@MattFinds ok, thank you
