I'll be there in a few months for the first time, I can only dream that "eyes on me" and the dragon quest theme will be playing while browsing this awesome store
@@WalkinginJapan im in the uk so alot of the times if you want somthing retro you need to buy it of someone else not a shop, and there could be all sorts wrong with it
Japan just looks fantastic to live in stinks that the best areas are super expensive best way to get house is to buy a run down one and rebuild it since the Japanese treat houses as disposable in many areas so you can find some deals
I. Have lived in Japan for 8yrs now. I never knew about this place. To be honest I usually don’t go past Nakano on the Chou line unless I have business. I’ll check this place out, but for me emulation is the way to go.
It's a perfectly fine option, of course, specially in any of the excellent chinese games consoles being sold in Aliexpress. Checkout the RG35XXSP - it's really fantastic. Anyway, just for a walk it is always fun to stroll around Akihabara.
@@WalkinginJapan without question I’m subscribed, Japan is undiscovered country in so many ways. I find something new to love about this country every day. I still have a ton of old game consoles so even though emulation saves space, there are physical copies I like to have. The last console I brought was the retron 5. I did go to the store in the video yesterday. I picked up Hagane for the super famicon.
wait, at 7:03 are weird pokemon games! chaos black, arkcry something and the one with celebi on it? are those bootleg games? i would never thing that a japanese retro store would sell this
I was in Japan in 2016 but I was hoping for this super potato to get better I guess their still the same they have no new releases only old games that I can hack and get for free
Well, they're popular exactly because of that, old games. People who like these games like to use original hardware, cartridges... this is what this place is about.
@@WalkinginJapan yeah they like to blow in the cartridges back and forth or need to put another cartridge on top of another cartridge is a brilliant way to play video games I’m surprised Nintendo Switch cartridges aren’t having that problem their smaller when Cd 💿 came no more issues the games were weak back then the oldest consoles I can say that were great had arcade experience was the sega Dreamcast and sega Saturn 🪐 original Xbox PS2 that shouldn’t of got resident evil games they weren’t ready if resident evil 4 was released on the PS3 first it would of been a lot better capcom is just in a hurry they couldn’t wait
Leaving japan from a 12 day trip. If you want to go shopping for games please skip super potato and hit the book off/hard offs, and suragaya’s!! Best bangs for your buck super potato’s should be called super overpriced no joke. eBay prices are cheaper than this place
hard offs are also quite expensive lately, specially in Tokyo. Maybe in little towns or not so big cities hard offs you can find some good deals, but most of stuff is simply more expensive. Mercari and Yahoo Auctions are places with better prices but you need to be able to read japanese and understand how this sites work, ways to pay for stuff etc etc. And yes, Super Potato prices are very high as I show here: ruclips.net/video/aqIU4bdCEwU/видео.html

True. They masters of gameplay.

There are, but not this big, extensive and focused only on japanese videogames. For that, you've got come to Japan.
@@WalkinginJapan im in the uk so alot of the times if you want somthing retro you need to buy it of someone else not a shop, and there could be all sorts wrong with it

I can understand that feeling 😂
What about me, bro? I wanna collect retro stuff, too. 💀😭

Yep. It's one of the advantages of wood-made and pre-fabricated houses, both popular in Japan.

Thank you fir the tour🥰Did they have Tamagotchi too?
Yes, they do, but you have to ask them to open the cabinet. They're quite expensive.

It's weird, there a Naranja (orange in spanish) version too. Not for sale, so maybe modified not official games? not sure.

This looks like America in the 80’s and 90’s
Me dejaria el sueldo yo ahí 😋😋

I went last November and they downgraded. Akihabara is not the same anymore....
everybody says that when visiting this place, for many years - but everybody comes back here, after all.
Ugh they put the disgusting Yugio cards in there with the precious Game & Watches.
... and that's in the closed showcase, where the most precious stuff is kept safe.
