There's lots of politics involved with school lunch. They recently rolled back a policy that now allows whole milk instead of healthier alternatives. I also remember back then when Michelle Obama was proposing healthy food choices in schools, and the Republicans went nuts. We tried the Crofters “jam”, and although it is great that it is lower in sugar, it really is more of a jelly, we miss the pieces of fruit in the strawberry and raspberry flavors and it doesn’t spread the way you expect a jam to. Wish Bonne Maman would do reduced sugar versions.

The Harmless Harvest chocolate and coconut smoothies are also good. Three Trees is a great almond milk as well. For breads, organic sourdough might be great for the gut, too. The organic Siete tortilla chips are good. Some fresh pico are a good pairing or Whole Foods organic salsa. Kids like “healthy” tasting things.

Are Whole Foods here and Huntington Beach no longer carry Siete seasonings, which is really irritating. At least that’s what they told me when I went in, and they looked it up. Can’t find it anywhere and it was my favorite. I’m not a fan of Whole Foods, but it was the last place I could find the seasoning… Thankfully, still found no grain sea salt chips at Costco this month on sale. Was it for dollars $.29 a bag or something? Quite reasonable no matter what it was reasonable, and we’ve bought several bags to get us through. Lol.

Sunflower butter is made by blending the entire sunflower seed. Sunflower oil is extracted and then highly processed which turns it into an inflammatory food.
Was sad about my potato chips. I heard Boulder Canyon was best, but the oil used in the lower-sodium version uses, sesame seed oil. I tried to get the Avocado oil ones at Sprouts, but they were out. I think the he uses the cheaper one in smoothies because the taste ends up being hidden by the other ingredients. I’m assuming he prefers the taste of the more expensive one, so he saves it for cereal and drinking where he can actually taste it more. I’m confused as to why you would use best in class milk like malk for cereal but second best (cheaper) for smoothies. You’re drinking them both either way to get the best health benefits.

@@John-nm9lw yes I heard that too. I think you missed my point. If you’re trying to save money, why not drink second best all the time? Most people want best in class for your health so whether it’s in a smoothie or cereal, you’re going to use the best milk.
I think the he uses the cheaper one in smoothies because the taste ends up being hidden by the other ingredients. I’m assuming he prefers the taste of the more expensive one, so he saves it for cereal and drinking where he can actually taste it more. Kind of like how people use cheap liquor in mixed drinks and save the good stuff for straight up.
