Louis X Wicked Lips was an EP with 3 songs. For an independent artist charting for 1 week still means you’re doing well. Iggy is just getting drowned out by Megan and Doja. Iggy just needs a good emotional album like the one her label took from her and she’d be great. She has the visuals she just needs the sound

You forgot to mention her sophomore album had suffered huge delays due to finding out her fiance cheated and a lot of the songs were about him so she had to redo the entire album and it became very hollow sounding . Without that delay she would be more successful. Also, her videos receive a lot of views and her songs could be hits with more promo

I love Iggy and all but she really missed the mark with this last album. Sally Walker was a great start but every song sounded like the other with not alot of substance. In My Defense had the potential to be her Emancipation of Mimi moment but failed. Her looks and visuals are on point though and Lola is a bop.

I feel like you’re focusing way too much on chart positions. Because although Kream peaked at 94 on the hot 100, it’s certified gold and has 98 million streams on Spotify. Songs don’t chart the same anymore. Sally Walker was in the top 5 of US iTunes for 4 days straight and only went to 64. That’s just weird. Back then, that would’ve solidified a top 10 hit. I feel people had a very negative impression of Iggy solely based off of what they heard and thought of her. Much of the controversy wasn’t even started by her, it was started by other people, not all, but most. But the way she responded was what upset people. And she admits that. The slave master lyric was literally a tribute to Kendrick Lamar who had a song with that same lyric in it. Those racist tweets were proven to have been faked. People fail to realize she actually CAN rap and she made history being the first female rapper to occupy the #1, #2 and #3 spots on the hot 100 with Fancy, Problem and Black Widow. Team was a moderate success and sold 600k the year it was released, it was the most successful female rap single in 2016. She recently Released Lola which is suuuch a bop. I heard on the radio here in New York the other day and it has 10 million streams on Spotify. And her recent album IMD, sold 17k first week in the U.S while being Independent with virtually no promo. That’s very impressive. Started and F It Up also have very high viewed music videos, and started did chart elsewhere across the world. People also underestimate her global market appeal, cause homegirl is still huge in Latin America/Brazil and she did a show in I believe Thailand and sold it completely out. I think she definitely can get back to major success, but everything has to be very articulate and planned out accordingly. But, she also doesn’t really care about charts anymore. She’s more so making music for people who will listen, and that’s good enough for her. She’s independent, so every stream, every show, every sale goes straight to her. She’s RICH.

One Thing I need to say is that Iggy Azalea already Told her Story on Digital Distortion, everything ya'll wanted on InMyDefense was supposed to be on Digital Distortion and I know it hurts Iggy to sit in a studio and try to recreate songs such as "Middle Man" "Elephant" and "Seventeen" these songs where telling Iggy Azaleas Story and it would've changed alot of people's perception of her. I think when an Artist loses music that was going to be their comeback story it's really hard to continue making music that is meaningful.
I only listened to Middle Man, I have to look for the other ones. But I really liked the beat
She's a likeable person I think, she' doesn't mean any harm. Around the time Ignorant Art was released I hung out with her in NYC for an evening and she was extremely kind to me and my friend who were fans, and very fun to talk to. I don't agree with the witch hunt that went after her years ago at all. I personally don't even think many people found her as offensive as we think, there are just a lot of loud people on the internet. It's a shame cause she has talent, her videos are unbelievable well done and thought out (not many artists are on the same level in this area as she is, from any genre) and her music is pretty good. She's good at what she does. She's not groundbreaking or legendary but she is fun and has her own unique lane that I think deserves more success and recognition. She works hard. I don't know if she'll ever be able to bounce back, unfortunately, but hopefully she builds up momentum and gets to somewhere she can be satisfied with. If I were her I'd try to stay positive knowing she does have fans out there who recognize what she does and even Missy Elliott respects her, which should mean WAY more than what any grumpy critic says about you and your art.

Honestly. The nail in the coffin was the viral video of her at some festival where she did a 'freestyle' a capella. It was a *mess*, heavily panned and turned her into a meme. Hard to recover after that, no matter how great her newer singles are (KREAM, Started etc.)

-Wicked Lips , they are good projects and so many potential hits but the biggest issue here is that she is “ independent “. Being an independent artist feels good in terms of having more creative freedom , taking most the decisions , etc... but it’s also very limited in terms promotion because a label actually put their money , their millions in risk to promote you , on radio , on adds , on tv performances and so on and it’s turn out really hard for an independent artist to be able to promote themselves dramatically like the labels do , put all that kind of sources ( money) or even dig their place to the music scene and stay.

We all know that Iggy is talented , she writes , she rap quite well, she does amazing collabs and all that kind of stuff but the main reason that we can all agree why she would never really be that “ star” it’s because she’s a white woman in hip hop . White men in hip hop are now trying to find a comfort zone in it but as white woman it’s still really hard , because no media or black studios , black people in general would support her , pay her to perform and having T.I as a mentor was good to help her build a career and large audience and but as a black man promoting a white girl doing hip hop ( that they so call sabotaging the hip hop culture) T.I felt embarrassed and starting following the black culture... long story
Anyway Iggy is at some point a self sabotage of her career lately , for example she never promote herself on social media , social media which is the most effective way to get viewed on in our days but she doesn’t, she never post few performances she’s offered , she keeps on deleting pictures on her Instagram, she never post anything special about her or music , calling it some stupid reincarnation.
So with that being said if Iggy really keep want to make music that also sells good she needs to sign another but very carefully record deal , she still has %60 to get signed and get invested money on . If not then she should put herself on some business and make much money . Thanks

I still support her, she’s amazing and her music is good. She’s still doing good numbers as an independent artist. She won’t be as popular or big as she was before because she doesn’t have a big company behind her, the radio won’t support her, among other stuff. She keeps giving great songs like Kream, Sally Walker, Lola, among others.
I actually like Iggy way better now than before...Her last single, "Lola" was a bop!

I'd love to see a video about Jessie J - she seemed to have a lot of success with her first couple of albums, despite getting mixed reviews, and now she's pretty much disappeared. Her last couple of albums failed to chart and she was even a contestant on a Chinese singing show.

Great video as usual. But I need to point a mistake you made: Iggy did not compared herself to a runaway slave but to the master of a runaway slave which is way worse. - 2nd best pure selling female rapper.
- She served GREAT QUALITY visuals which she paid for. ( 4 music videos )
- Had second and third most viewd music videos for a female rapper ( Started, Sally Walker )
- 700M views ( only in 2019. )
- She sold 4.3M records world wide ( 1.1M for started, 1.5M for Sally Walker + others ) and both singles are soon to be Gold in the US.
- She reached 3B views in her RUclips channel.
- had a sold out show in Brazil ( 85.000 people attended ) and other Festivals.
- Sally Walker reached #3 on US iTunes, and debuted at #62 on the Hot100 ( no radio support, no big promo. )
Her last single " Lola " charted in 50 country around the world and it's been played on radios.
So..
As " a cancelled " indie artist she did AMAZING. and people like you who disrespect and discredit her and her hard work FOR VIEWS are f***ing pathetic. I like Iggy Azalea and think that people should give her a break already. She's been unproblematic for years now and consistently releases good music. No, In My Defense isn't amazing but it does have some great songs on it as do the recent EPs. I also think it's total nonsense that her rhymes are ghostwritten. People say that about literally every female rapper ever, and it's generally not true. She herself has said that some songs (Fancy being the main one) are written collaboratively and that it's reflected in the writing credits. All that being said...I think the chance of a major commercial comeback for her is basically zero so she should focus on doing what she wants as an indie act.

Iggy Azalea is an Amazing artist that was really Destroyed by alot of people.... she's one of the best female rappers if we are being completely honest, her vision her music videos her Flow and word play is not average. Alot of people just don't care for her anymore and I don't think they ever will. I do think Iggy can get back to the level of success she had in 2014 all she really has to do is start collaborating with Big name artists like Drake, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez.... it would bring her right back into the mainstream media but I don't think Iggy wants to take that route.

even thought iggy isn't as big as she was, she still has a good amount of fans and has a lot of versatility to showcase, its harder to promote music as she's been blackballed from the music industry and she's independent. she's doing just fine.
The new classic was one of my fav album of 2014 tbh. Still listen to it today. I really like in my defense but some songs are fillers. I really think that even though she’s made a lot of mistakes, people were extremely harsh on her because she’s a white female rapper, someone I don’t understand. I don’t care if she’s really famous or not, I really like her music and her music videos are AMAZING. I looooved survive the summer (listening to it right now)
Iggy is talented and I think she is doing very successful now that she is independent. I think “cancel culture” was the only reason she fell from grace. She was cancelled for dumb petty reasons and people just wanted someone to hate on. People just follow other people hating on her with no actual reason to hate her.

I love iggy I just think she handled her controversy badly, as well as her and her management handling the rollout of her second album badly. it’s a shame because STS was a great EP and it could have been more commercially successful if she promoted it more. also, i’m not a huge fan of IMD but started was my most played song of last year 😭

I've always been a fan. Those first mixtapes were gold.. Conceptually , aesthetically, just fun and interesting. Funny how the jealousy that Fancy( her big "success") brought her plus her arrogant , combative persona did her in. She started doubting her unique creativity around Switch. That was the saddest.
Honestly there are so many non-black female rappers like lets say Cardi B who have said anti-black things or who have acted much worst in other situations. Hell even black female rappers like Nicki Minaji. Unfortunately for Iggy she just had bad luck and didn't have the industry support or die hard fandom like other problematic rappers to hold her through the scandals.
Right that’s why she hasn’t gotten to stand she only developed a loyal fanbase after her career declined and her record label stopped supporting her after she started flopping.
I know she released bunch of singles awhile but at least I enjoy most of them. Maybe she's also a victim of majority's choice of relevancy. I mean, look at Katy and Miley, they released the best pop songs of last years but people passed on 'em.

It’s nice to see that she has a very loyal fan base in these comments. It may not be enough for her to have chart hits but I think she will continue to release music for these fans. I always try to support her because I love her visuals and her songs are mostly bops. I’ll never understand why people/critics that clearly don’t like her continue to critique her work when clearly they are never going to like it anyway.

I think she is a really good artist and I liked her old style of music but she doesn’t use social media to her advantage.
She never used social media to build a connection to her fan base or anywhere else what I think nowadays is the most important part of marketing, she dropped her 2nd album after years of her hip and it was about cash and ass, the only song I‘m still nowadays listen is work because it is so real and empowering.
And now after a few months after her album she drops a ep that literally has better songs than her album, like where is the sense.
And the worst part is that she has a lovable personality that could quickly build a huge trust and interested in her but she only apereres when she comes out with something she is selling.
she doesn't have the same success as before, but as she went independent its more difficult for her to hit the charts since everything its so expensive, but for an independent artist she's doing pretty damn well.
She had a song a year ago that did over 200 million views...
I love Iggy . And as long as she continues to release music for us fans I'm happy . I love everything she releases and get super excited when she releases something new .

I think her biggest issue above all was that her music wasn’t very engaging. She had a couple of pop hits but her credibility as a rapper was non existent and once the pop scene got tired of her, she really had NO ONE to fall back on. Acts like Carly Rae Jepsen and Charli XCX who achieved pop success at one point and fell from that can still stay afloat thanks to a small but extremely loyal fanbase that still support them no matter what. Iggy doesn’t really have that and now she basically has to rebrand herself with each new release and it just isn’t working. I honestly think she’s better off working behind the scenes as a music video director or something because she has a great eye for visuals. But as far as music goes, I think she should just do it on the side every now and again and pursue something else.
Btw real ratings come from people who listen to her music. Critics have biased opinions. Just because 6 critics weren't fans of the album doesn't mean the album is bad. In my defense was hot. She made an album for people to dance. That's what she wanted to do. Iggy will still be relevant.

I think she’s doing AMAZING for an independent artist?... her mv numbers are great, her streaming numbers are great, she has established a VERY devoted fanbase on twitter & i think that no matter what she does she will always do amazing. Charts mean NOTHING. A song can sell over 2m copies and not even chart & i think people fail to understand that? I know so many UNKNOWN artists that don’t chart yet still managed to generate millions upon millions of $$ within just a couple of DAYS...... she’s not looking or striving for comercial success, nor does she want it? She’s doing what she loves..

It is not because an artist is not charting that the artist is not doing well lol. There was a lot of bops on "in my defense" she got her fans, i love her. Survive the summer was DOPE. She is doing her own thing and i dont think she is looking to be charting like crazy. Charting doesnt represent success. In my opinion she is much better now than before.
Actually there’s a lot of artist that I enjoy. That are not mainstream or high in the charts and I like it that way.. Once a song gets overly hyped and all over I stop listening to it.
