I still try to actually do the work though. I don’t mind that bit, but he only ever references that one source and when we’re going over the worksheets, if you answer something not listed on the PDF’s answer key, you’re wrong. We were talking about energy sources like the sun, water, wind and I said the earth, in relation to geothermal energy and instead of saying that’s one of the correct answers he awkwardly switched to “well... fish is an energy source too!” But no one would’ve thought that if not for the answer key.

Same. I was scold for an hour during music lesson just because the word size of my project was not 18. The point is, the teacher wanted us to put everything into one page but at the same time wanted us to use font 18.

I wished I had this video 5 years ago when first starting my college journey, thanks so much studyquill. I had a several bad teachers in my community college and now at uni. Just thank so much again.
bad teachers are really common in US universities because professors are not actually required to learn how to teach or get a teaching certification, so a lot of the time it comes from ignorance of how to actually teach material to a beginner (since my mom is an elementary school teacher and i'm going into teaching as well, this is something i'm really passionate about) these are great tips!
I'm a new teacher and just started teaching undergrads this year. Tbh, I always feel that I fall into the 1, 2, and 5. Either one of it, or all of it after each and every class. Your suggestion to "ask questions" for the related categories is actually on point. To be honest, It is somewhat hard to narrow down the materials to fit into one class. The other thing is it is really hard to tell whether students understand the material without feedback. And one kind of feedback is really important: questions from students. I really, really hope that students can ask questions more. Vague one is okay for starters because I usually help them to specify their question.
I had a math teacher that literally was nice but couldn’t teach. He had temper tantrums almost daily, especially with our class. He would scream a lot and one time he threw a chair at a student. Plus, he was very irresponsible. We had problems as well(mainly we were very against him, not listening, talking back to him), and he tried to help(which was nice of him), but we didn’t learn anything at all. That was last semester, and now we have a different math teacher. We (and our parents) reported so many issues that the school either fired him or he volunteered to go because he wasn’t earning much. Now we basically skipped a whole semester of math because we didn’t learn anything so we are failing. And just now do I see this video....
this came at the perfect time! my children's literature instructor for college asks us to complete various amount of assignments every week, but in contrast, doesn't provide a lot of instruction on how to properly complete them. whenever my friend and i ask her about them, she always just says refer to the syllabus or a resource handout that has minimal instructions. she also seems to grade very low without any helpful criticism. i've messaged her several times and asked several questions during class, but she never answers them...
I had a teacher who have half our school anxiety attacks. He would actively belittle students, discrimination against them based on gender and religion, yell at them for not understanding what they said. Everytime you would say "I think" he would have a fit and make students feel extremely unsafe. Additionally he was also an absolute nightmare to all the other teachers.
One thing I’ve learned is that teachers can HEAVILY shape your view of a subject! I hated math for awhile until my 7th grade math class, and now it’s my favorite subject :)
6:06 my maths teacher is "the mean one". I like maths, but the teacher is really bad and my classmates and I are afraid to answer the questions at the lesson even if we know the correct answers, because if we say the wrong answer she can become very angry in 1 second and be rude
Last semester I had a teacher who refused to teach us. Instead of giving the 2hrs of lectures a week he was meant to, we just had to read a 'textbook' (pdf from the internet). Everyone was so confused and when people asked him for help he would actively reply "No.", and despite much complaing to the head of school... nothing happened. I have him again this semester so thank u so much for pulling thru with this video
Thanks for addressing this. I’ve had every single teacher/professor mentioned in the video. Many students encounter these teachers and don’t know how to always navigate around their personality and end up not doing well in class.
I loved how you said hard subject didn't mean a bad teacher, it's like something that really needs to be said💯 Also really appreciate the self reflection in the beginning💕
thank you so much for making this video I really really needed this. I don’t know why I haven’t asked sooner because this would have been so so helpful with uncomfortable experiences with my Teachers in grade 8
i literally went from the lowest grade possible without failing in science to the highest just because i now have an amazing teacher that 1) explains very well 2) seems to be genuinely passionate about science and teaching 3) is super kind and compassionate :)
My teachers don't even explain things. For example our maths teacher just starts doing a new chapter without even explaining it and as it is online class no one pays attention what the teacher is writing and they just play game, watch videos, chat with other friends during the class time.
my visual design teacher will ignore me because i’m not the best at the class... the only way i can get her to answer a question is for my girlfriend to ask for me because my gf is top of the class-
Watching this video made me realize that there are solutions to this kind of professors and made me feel a little bit better since now I know how I have to act with them
for some reason, in the teacher who plays favorites, i'm one of the favorites which very annoying for me. For example, the teacher only asks me whether we can see the link or something like that. But being a favorite is not the best thing in the world, it's probably the creepiest. The thing to become one of the teacher's favorite is to join some activities that hold the name of the school. It sounds very scary, but trust me, this was the reason why I was a favorite. Hope this helps!
I've always had teachers favour me in the start of the year but somehow be especially mean/rude during the final few weeks of an academic year, when the finals are coming up. That's just so frustrating.
I know that Jasmine tries her best to help us in these videos but I think an important thing to mention is that you're not alone as a student. If you think a teacher is really toxic or they are just not doing their job right you are allowed to ask your student board or someone higher along your teacher's chain of command ( Like a Faculty head, ect)for help and guidance or to simply report your teacher's horrible behaviour... Thanks for the great video!
Im so lucky our teachers are kind and doesn't show that they have favorites but my best friend's teachers are so bad so ima share this to her,,thank youuuu 😊
on the “most teachers have a degree in their subject” this can be true, but for math it’s usually not. i had a math teacher in middle school who had a master’s degree in mathematics AND teaching, and he was the best teacher i ever had, opposed to every other math teacher. he told me that a lot of the math teachers he knew didn’t have a math degree. again, they exist of course, i just wanted to share a bit of information i knew :)
I have this really bad teacher who always doesn't teach well and almost all of my classmates agree. It wasn't too long ago when we had a quiz and we didn't even understand any of the questions. She went too fast and she wasn't clear. Our classmate asked a question but she ignored it, actually WE ALL ask questions but she just moved to the next question and just told us to submit when we didn't even understand properly. She never helped us and just proceeds to think that we understand. Such a disappointing teacher.
I am actually on my PSLE year which means primary school leaving exam and so i am 12 and ur Channel has really helped me in my studies that i have been struggling this might not seem much to u but I truly hope to see more of ur vids that can help me a lot thank uuuuu so much
I could only do very little work and put in very little time for studying, now I’m very organised after i found ur channel,I then had a head empty teacher and this came up,u are a mind reader
I noticed that a lot of my teachers pick favorites, so I become the favorite. I talk to them a lot, go to their after school ‘classes’. Remember things if they talk about their life outside of school. My ap prep-pre cal teacher rounded my test grade from 85% to 90% without me asking, and when I asked her why she did that she said “you deserved it”. As for teachers who don’t pick favorites I don’t slack off either, I do the same things as for my “picking favorites” teachers. They just don’t care
there is a huge difference between a fun teacher and a teacher who doesn't care at all. i got the fun teacher luckily who makes sure we understand the lesson before we have our own time. this teacher is actually excited to teach us new things and wants us to ask questions from the text book to learn more about a topic. but during sixth grade, i had this one teacher who just talks the whole lesson and doesn't teacher us anything. when we try to ask her a question she just says, we should have already learned it or paid attention. i can't remember one thing i learned from this sixth grade class.
Thank you a lot for your video. One of my lecturers seems to not like me and I really dont think there's a reason to treat me so differently than the rest of my peers. I've never been picked on by a teacher before but I have experienced bullying ,never really from a teacher though. Besides, I'm 21 now and I really don't want to tolerate that sort of behaviour towards me. I was thinking of confronting her but I like that your video is very upbeat and gives off safe, happy, comforting vibes. It feels reassuring to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this problem and that there's a way to keep pishing forward without feeling the need to drop to anyone's level or lose your cool because a teacher doesn't like you and instead of being professional about it ,rather pick on you instead. I'm really a quiet person, lil shy and sometimes she makes me feel like she's trying to embarass me to the point of me not wanting to come anymore. There were times when I felt like crying in class even though it would look like very little things. I am quite soft and I don't want to allow anyone to think they can try to embarass or bully me after all I've been through and how far I've come. I dealt with enough of that in highschool and I must say, some people would simply pick on me for no reason at all. I've always beem shy/quiet and like to keep to myself and I get the feeling that by being meek and obedient¿ to these types of people always lead more and more people to disrespect me. If she or any bad teacher ever teaches me again I hope I won't give them the satisfaction of quitting. I really just don't want to even have time for such hostility. That's why when it happens in the moment I usually feel confused at first and automatically reply with politeness and respect even if she speaks to me with sarcasm or an attitude infront of the whole class. Sometimes the class snickers and idk if it's aimed at me,her or just the situation in general

When you’ve just been crying over banana fish (an anime that is too much for me to explain) and now you need to study: 🥲
😭😭
I have a chem teacher that can’t teach chem so 90% of my study time is trying to understand the content and honestly feel like i wasted an hour of lecture just because the teacher can’t teach😫
Having the Same issue
The teacher also teaches physics 😭
My bio teacher:
This was the case with most of my teachers, I was always spending time trying to understand the material the teacher failed to teach us, it was quite aggravating.
@@JohnFourtyTwo yes!! At least there are youtubers who are able to teach lessons better than teachers. Seriously i would rather pay them than my teachers
My algebra one teacher doesn’t make lesson plans and doesn’t know what he is doing at all which really sucks because this is the basis of all the math im going to be taking in high school
My business teacher yelled at me for 40 minutes for using the wrong font.
I am speechless-
Wow.
Same. I was scold for an hour during music lesson just because the word size of my project was not 18. The point is, the teacher wanted us to put everything into one page but at the same time wanted us to use font 18.
@@trashandrubbish8881 I feel your pain
My biology teacher was giving me attitude because I was TEN minutes early.
Seeing this in my subscription right after getting an essay back with comments that made it painfully obvious the teacher didn’t read a single word of it 💯 love it
as a former orientation leader, this should be required viewing for anyone coming to college 😂 these are all spot on!
Jasmine dressed up as teachers in the thumbnail is literally making my day better 😂❤️
I really appreciate how realistic all her videos are. They are so motivational ❤️
Thank you so much for the lovely points being mentioned ❤️
i can't describe how much i adore u!, your content is reeeally creative, interesting & original, you are my main source of motivation and that focuses mainly on giving advice based on the student reality. Keep it that way 🌸
My math professor doesn't even have a clear schedule, so I don't know what I need to be doing until they announce it
this is actually so true and i always remember that one teacher at school with a huge water bottle and colorful headbands just sipping the water and holding the keys
I wished I had this video 5 years ago when first starting my college journey, thanks so much studyquill.
I had a several bad teachers in my community college and now at uni.
Just thank so much again.
Love how she’s starting to actually grow now, she’s getting the recognition she deserves.
bad teachers are really common in US universities because professors are not actually required to learn how to teach or get a teaching certification, so a lot of the time it comes from ignorance of how to actually teach material to a beginner (since my mom is an elementary school teacher and i'm going into teaching as well, this is something i'm really passionate about)
these are great tips!
Questions: are you the problem?
Me: 😳
Jasmin: Probably not
Me: Ok 😅
5/8 teachers this year I could have lived without. 🙃
And just now do I see this video....
this came at the perfect time! my children's literature instructor for college asks us to complete various amount of assignments every week, but in contrast, doesn't provide a lot of instruction on how to properly complete them. whenever my friend and i ask her about them, she always just says refer to the syllabus or a resource handout that has minimal instructions. she also seems to grade very low without any helpful criticism. i've messaged her several times and asked several questions during class, but she never answers them...
can we appreciate how much effort she put into this?😳😳🙌🙌😍😍
I had a teacher who have half our school anxiety attacks. He would actively belittle students, discrimination against them based on gender and religion, yell at them for not understanding what they said. Everytime you would say "I think" he would have a fit and make students feel extremely unsafe. Additionally he was also an absolute nightmare to all the other teachers.
I've worked in higher education for nearly 20 years and you are so spot on. You're doing a wonderful thing making these videos, thank you!
Me: “Excuse me I have a question”
My teacher: “wHaT hAvE yOuvE beEn dOInG tHe lAsT 5 mINUtes???”
This is exactly what I needed it. Thank youuuu
One thing I’ve learned is that teachers can HEAVILY shape your view of a subject! I hated math for awhile until my 7th grade math class, and now it’s my favorite subject :)
I loved the editing in this video where you had a thing for each teacher and they were so on point which made it even better 😂
This was the most needed video of the century 🤣😳thanks Jasmine 😃
Girl you and I have the same hairstyleee, I also have no idea how to style it but you rock in that look. It makes you look so freaking pretty💖💖
I have him again this semester so thank u so much for pulling thru with this video
this is going to sound horrible but... my strategy was always to become the mean teacher’s favourite. and it worked 😭
congrats for 700k!!!!! I've been around here since like 6th grade...
yeah no joke
Thanks for addressing this. I’ve had every single teacher/professor mentioned in the video. Many students encounter these teachers and don’t know how to always navigate around their personality and end up not doing well in class.
your videos genuinely give me positivity towards school learning. thanks studyquill !!
Its funny how I started catogarizing my teachers according to the tyoe she mentioned 🤣🤣🤣, I've got all of them.
I loved how you said hard subject didn't mean a bad teacher, it's like something that really needs to be said💯
Also really appreciate the self reflection in the beginning💕
thank you so much for making this video I really really needed this.
It’s really hard dealing with these teachers, but I’m also really thankful for all those awesome teachers out there!!!
My teachers don't even explain things. For example our maths teacher just starts doing a new chapter without even explaining it and as it is online class no one pays attention what the teacher is writing and they just play game, watch videos, chat with other friends during the class time.
@Mil No one doesn't even bother questioning them
The editing of this video was amazing also the video in itself was so informative and great also you look beautiful like always Jasmine 💖
This is JUST WHAT I NEED!! I always complain about EVERY SINGLE TEACHER I HAD and this Perfect!! I love ur haircut Jaz! :)))
my visual design teacher will ignore me because i’m not the best at the class... the only way i can get her to answer a question is for my girlfriend to ask for me because my gf is top of the class-
Watching this video made me realize that there are solutions to this kind of professors and made me feel a little bit better since now I know how I have to act with them
for some reason, in the teacher who plays favorites, i'm one of the favorites which very annoying for me.
With your tips I was able to get a full scholarship and was on top of our class the first semester!! Thank you
First of all, love your hair! And thank you so much for this video I needed it lol
No matter how the teacher is I somehow just find my self being a quite introvert in their class 😔
The best typ of teacher that i had was that one who doesn´t even know his subject like he doesn´t know the answer of a question to the subject.
Thanks for the great video!
the thumbnail is awesome!! and jasmine's editing is even better!!
Im so lucky our teachers are kind and doesn't show that they have favorites but my best friend's teachers are so bad so ima share this to her,,thank youuuu 😊
the little skits at the beginning? iconic
on the “most teachers have a degree in their subject” this can be true, but for math it’s usually not. i had a math teacher in middle school who had a master’s degree in mathematics AND teaching, and he was the best teacher i ever had, opposed to every other math teacher. he told me that a lot of the math teachers he knew didn’t have a math degree. again, they exist of course, i just wanted to share a bit of information i knew :)
How does she not have more subscribers???? I admire you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
ive never had many “bad” teachers, but i have had a lot of incredibly boring teachers.
it's just because of your tricks that I have survived online school ...love u to infinite🥰🥰
Yayyy needed this!
I am actually on my PSLE year which means primary school leaving exam and so i am 12 and ur Channel has really helped me in my studies that i have been struggling this might not seem much to u but I truly hope to see more of ur vids that can help me a lot thank uuuuu so much
A tip for a boring teacher: cont how many times they say a word/phrase. It’s very funny and keeps you focused.
I could only do very little work and put in very little time for studying, now I’m very organised after i found ur channel,I then had a head empty teacher and this came up,u are a mind reader
I'm starting school tomorrow and my school is filled with awful educators. Thank you Jasmine. 💞😂
They just don’t care
there is a huge difference between a fun teacher and a teacher who doesn't care at all. i got the fun teacher luckily who makes sure we understand the lesson before we have our own time. this teacher is actually excited to teach us new things and wants us to ask questions from the text book to learn more about a topic.
but during sixth grade, i had this one teacher who just talks the whole lesson and doesn't teacher us anything. when we try to ask her a question she just says, we should have already learned it or paid attention. i can't remember one thing i learned from this sixth grade class.
i found myself in cases that some of my teachers used gaslighting and guilt-tripping to get us to be more inquisitive.
that obviously didn't work.
O my goodness I seriously needed this thank you!!!!
Yes especially to the asking questions! We teachers LOVE to explain stuff to you.
