Great interview, thanks for the history and all the insigts...I'm 50 and just learing rifles. Its really not fun and taking super long to learn. Ive committed to putting in 100 hrs on the sim, only 12 hrs so far and just seeing some light now. At this age im still so excited about flying but I cant learn as fast. Down On The Deck was one of my faborite sites back then....thanks so muchb for the encouragement, im still fired up. Cheers.
I’m 35 but I’ve been flying 3D since its inception. Much like you I went from a trainer to seeing QQ hover and from then on all I’ve wanted to do was 3D. I took four years off of flying and I come back to all this new 3D. I was pretty good ten years ago but now I’m way behind the curve. I do practice rifles but I’m not good enough with altitude to get low. I can steer but I can’t quite keep like altitude where I want it. If I start to loose altitude I’m not quick enough to gain it back before it would eat dirt. I don’t do videos anymore because no one wants to go fly with me and hold a camera the whole time I’m flying. But I’m with you. I feel like I’m 20 years old until I try this new 3D stuff then I feel terrible lol.
Im just excited joe finally got an electric!!! Really suprised he only got a 60" tho i figured he wouldve done atleast an 85" for an electric i kno joe likes the big planes
True! They were out of stock! haha I was just teasing about the sizes, I just got a Extra 300 3D 1.3m from Horizon and it's like my favorite plane now. haha
Speaking of strength. Excuse the explicative but ya'll know about the "Bitch slap"?. what a name lol. I dont know how a plane does not explode after that. The new planes are amazing in strength while keeping the wing loading low.
Some fields are great because they can allow up to 600-650ft of ceiling. The field where I fly we're only limited to 200ft ceiling. So all of us that fly 3D at our field got used to flying under 100ft when we practice, but we're also so used to it that we don't even know we're flying really low. I do agree that fear slows down your progress of practice. The only I don't agree on is that "Manliness doesn't equate to larger airplanes", as the best pilots I know love to fly and don't care what airplane they use. As for fun we try to 3D anything at our field, like rolling harriers on a Cessna or a wing with no rudder. We do have group of old 3d fliers that comes through, but they have so much ego that they just make fun of planes that are less than 100"
Just an affectionate name for an old beater plane. I bought a 3DHS Slick that was broken everywhere and just a pile. I did the minimum to get it flying and then I just have a different attitude whilst flying it. I feel like I don't care if I take it home that day or not, you know? So, what happens is I actually fly better, vs just crashing it or something. Frees your mind up. For me it's not about the money, it's about the plane looking like it should go in the trashcan. haha
@@joehuntrc5027 This here is what will make you a better pilot! A plane that you can care less about will allow you to fly lower, perform those moves that you would never attempt with your new nicer plane!
Man this guy talks to much …I’ve heard all this on his channel lol 😆 but seriously like the insight on how people learn cause it’s hard to get a lot of real stick time when you fly once a week simulator helps but does not translate directly to reality with no reset option.

@alwaysflying6540 but I like it! 😁

@alwaysflying6540 it's my only experience with a little plane, what little planes do you like?
@alwaysflying6540 thank you! Same!
What's a trash can plane?
