6-7 years ago i was an engineer who listened to his medical friends say how amazing his day was while he thought it was too late to make an old dream come true. Today I'm just over a year away from graduating as a doctor telling you how amazing I've been all these days after deciding to fulfill an old 35-year-old dream. Your songs and your story of overcoming difficulties inspire me. Fairy tales and inspirational stories always make us belive in a better life. Thank you very much.
Wow! That was amazing, Dan!! Loved it very much! Today I am living a life much better than 6 years ago. My husband, John , and I left our home of 35 years in Florida to pursue his life long dream of building a cabin in the woods by ourselves. He was studying the pioneers of our country and wondered if he could have done what they did. Leaving everything they knew to build a new life. Dan, this has been an adventure of a lifetime. We packed up all we could, including 5 dogs & 2 cats and headed north to the mountains. We searched for over 3 years and finally found our little piece of Heaven, five wooded acres on a foothill of the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. I Am 77 & John is 78. We're still building and are about to move into the new cabin we're finishing up. Back in 2019, I suffered a pretty severe stroke, but I survived it and have overcome what it took from me. I'm doing pretty well & resumed all duties of the house and still help with construction. So, for me, I'm doing everything much better than I did 5 or 6 years ago. It was a long road back & I'm still fighting to regain all my skills. I'm a photographer and an artist. John & I have been married 56 years. We have 4 beautiful daughters, all grown with families of their own. Seven granddaughters! Sorry to be so long winded, hope I haven't bored you. I listen to you every day & your voice goes out over the hills on my speakers, quite amazing! Thank you for sharing your talent!! I love the SHUT UP & Do Something!!!
I agree! I wish I had known about Dan and his music back in 2017, when both of my hip joints were replaced (one in May and one in July). I didn't, but I DID have Home Free to listen to...constantly. Bingeing on music you love is TERRIFICALLY therapeutic. While I was in-hospital, both times, I also got others "hooked" on Home Free. I'm not in-hospital any longer, but I'm having a TREMENDOUS time doing my best to get others hooked on Dan! 😀 I'm very glad to hear that you are healing and going back to work! 🥰

I am amazed at the control you have with your voice! I started quilting about 9 y3ars ago, and it wasn't pretty! This year I entered a quilt in the quilt show and won a first place ribbon because the judge liked my style of quilting. I've worked and continue to strive for better control of my stitching and piecing. I still love it when I put the finishing touches on my work and call it done. I understand having a passion for your work! Keep singing, Dan, you're top notch!
My husband passed away 5 yrs ago and I am now able to not cry every time I think of him!! I still cry inside my sou,l but am able to go on every day now to where I smile at just the thought of him❤ I love and miss you tim!!! That is how I knew I had turned a corner when my dad died and then again when my mom died. When I could smile while thinking of them was a huge help on my grieving journey. My only sibling died a little over 5 years ago. I still cry when I think of him. Anyhoo, bless you and prayers/good vibes on your grieving journey. 😔

I graduated law school over 24 years ago but did not get licensed. Over 2 years ago, I embarked on a journey to get the license. Bar exam and ethics exam passed and I’m now sworn in as an attorney.
7 years ago I contracted a rare auto immune disease from a Kangaroo in Australia, it went 4 years before the diagnosis was made and everyday I get stronger relieved that after all this time the disease is in nearly beat I am finally feeling stronger and healthier, I have your music to help me through my bad days as well as making me smile on the good ones. Thank you my boy you truly are an inspiration to many, both the healthy and the infirmed, bless you!
My love, the way nature works, you are most likely doing it all a great favour by allowing your body to find a way to deal with us being around nature again. If we were all looking after it all (naturally, not by so-called science) our immune systems would already be used to things like foreign tissues ect from other species. Please keep seeing positives in anything that could be called a negative experience. Our bodies are truly amazing. All of nature is but it takes time to adapt. I hope this helps you find some positives to your situation. I too am disabled and had a very hard time seeking a diagnosis. Sending so much love to you through all your difficulties. @@joolzrob Thank you for your kind words I feel truly blessed. When this disease was at its worst & no one could make the diagnosis, I was so depressed and angry at everyone. I thought about ending it all, but thankfully it was only a fleeting thought. I spent hours & hours listening to music on YT it became my Saviour that's when I came across Dan on RUclips by accident. The more videos I watched of him the more I realized he too has had some struggles in his young life. I lost my dear dad too that takes its toll on you. My disease is Q-Fever it's now pretty much gone, I don't notice it as much anymore thank God, the symptoms were vicious and persistent, I spent a lot of time in & out of hospital, I was told I would have it for years. I still listen to heaps of music everyday (mainly metal, rock & roll, 80s & older) that's when I found Dan singing Journey songs. Before him I listened to Iron Maiden, Sabaton, Bob Marley, Journey, Boston the list goes on! I have shifted back home to NZ from Aussie & I have dealt with abuse from people over the years a marriage break-up, a car accident and the loss of my little boy he was stillborn Oct 13th, then I discovered recently this is Dan's birthday too. Thank you again Joolzrob, hugs to you from a much stronger Kiwi woman!

I do calligraphy, and since the arrival of the iPad, I do so much more art with it than I ever did before. Pedro Vitor o problema é que eu vinha da escola “viper” e “Angra das antigas”... eu já estava acostumado com o André cantando carry on. Era visível que o Edu não conseguia chegar nas mesmas notas, por isso eu sempre tive essas ressalvas com ele. Mas sim, aquele CD rebirth, tirando carry on, é a cara do Edu.
Essa música fez parte da minha história de uma forma inusitada. Eu tinha nove anos de idade quando a ouvi pela primeira vez, em 2005. Estava fazendo aulas de dança livre no SESC da minha cidade, e a professora usou essa música para a coreografia da turma do juvenil (13-15 anos mais ou menos). Eu não sabia uma palavra em inglês, não sabia o título da música, eu não conhecia Shaman, eu não sabia quem era André Matos. Tudo que o que sabia é que achava a coreografia "das meninas grandes" muito mais legal do que a nossa. Há alguns meses minha família me trouxe de volta depois de um período turbulento onde eu não estava conseguindo seguir com a minha vida longe de casa, e num sábado aleatório a música Fairy Tale apareceu nas minhas sugestões do RUclips. E ouvindo novamente essa música catorze anos depois meu primeiro pensamento foi "A professora não leu a letra", seguido de "como faz pra parar de ouvir?". Logo eu estava ouvindo tudo do Angra (época do André e pós-André), do Shaman e não sei quantas outras bandas nacionais de metal (conhecia Sepultura, Torture Squad e Nervosa, somente), que tem me acalentado desde então. Quase um ano após a morte do André, sinto como se tivesse perdido um ente querido mesmo conhecendo sua obra tão tardiamente.

I do calligraphy, and since the arrival of the iPad, I do so much more art with it than I ever did before. About 5 years ago I started with it, and what I do now is much better and more creative than those early years. It’s so much fun too, and…all hail the undo function! Thanks for your music, Dan. Amazing Grace amazed me but on a deeper level, it stirred my spirit in praise to God for his bountiful and wondrous grace.

Pedro Vitor o problema é que eu vinha da escola “viper” e “Angra das antigas”... eu já estava acostumado com o André cantando carry on. Era visível que o Edu não conseguia chegar nas mesmas notas, por isso eu sempre tive essas ressalvas com ele. Mas sim, aquele CD rebirth, tirando carry on, é a cara do Edu.

Essa música fez parte da minha história de uma forma inusitada. Eu tinha nove anos de idade quando a ouvi pela primeira vez, em 2005. Estava fazendo aulas de dança livre no SESC da minha cidade, e a professora usou essa música para a coreografia da turma do juvenil (13-15 anos mais ou menos). Eu não sabia uma palavra em inglês, não sabia o título da música, eu não conhecia Shaman, eu não sabia quem era André Matos. Tudo que o que sabia é que achava a coreografia "das meninas grandes" muito mais legal do que a nossa. Há alguns meses minha família me trouxe de volta depois de um período turbulento onde eu não estava conseguindo seguir com a minha vida longe de casa, e num sábado aleatório a música Fairy Tale apareceu nas minhas sugestões do RUclips. E ouvindo novamente essa música catorze anos depois meu primeiro pensamento foi "A professora não leu a letra", seguido de "como faz pra parar de ouvir?". Logo eu estava ouvindo tudo do Angra (época do André e pós-André), do Shaman e não sei quantas outras bandas nacionais de metal (conhecia Sepultura, Torture Squad e Nervosa, somente), que tem me acalentado desde então. Quase um ano após a morte do André, sinto como se tivesse perdido um ente querido mesmo conhecendo sua obra tão tardiamente.
