  • How To Make Quick EC For New & Beginner Players in 2021, in this video I go over one of many ways to make EC (energy credits) quick and easy in Star Trek Online. Playing patrols, TOFs and missions to gain loot to sell to in game venders or on the exchange is a great way for new players to make EC.

    you really should turn on "auto loot", it automatically accepts the loot after you hit "take" so there's no second window popping up, it saves a lot of time when you're grabbing 50 pieces of loot

    For players in fleets, a great way to make alot of EC is purchase rare or very rare duty officers from fleet provisions and sell them on the exchange. Aux to Bat Technicians in particular sell really well and really high, like 5mil for one rare technician!

    Phaser Relay Mk XII purples are selling for usually a million E.C., sometimes as much as 1.4 million and sometimes as low as 950k on the exchange. I make enough EC to get by via crafting and selling those. Gotta keep an eye on the echange to get the best rates, though. I'm still looking for better things to craft and better methods in order to make the best out of it, but I haven't that much time to do it. By the way, a video about crafting, best DOffs, etc., would be nice. :D PS.: By the way, you got 1k Dil because that was your first patrol of the day, so you get 500 dil for the patrol, plus an extra 500 dil for being the first one. Subsequent patrols will get you 15 reputation points and only 500 dil per patrol.

    So great advice in general BUT the ninth rule has random ship types which means its impossible to tailor your build to be most effective against them. Rescue and Search is almost identical in mision format (blow up ships, blow up more ships, press f a few times, then get the multiwave thing) but is always against wimpy disco klings so its really easy to just slaughter them on mass as they warp in. You do have to watch out for their ability to force you in to max engine speed no stearing but its super easy to avoid either sit at mid-long distance or just nuke everything before it gets a chance to move.

    I've used the 9th Rule to test out any new build, ship, or just WTH let's throw this on that, or see how the default weapons play out, just upping & adding consoles, and a device or 2.
    Maybe I'll actually start picking up the loot, LOL.
    I haven't seen much of a difference in drops based on the difficulty level.
    The patrol is so scripted and orchestrated, it's a great way to test out a new 'head scratcher' ship.

    I exclusively run elite patrols to level my disposable toons (level to 20 to reclaim recruitment rewards, delete, repeat) and I do find I get higher rarity drops. I'm just not sure how the quality vs quantity balance would impact your "spam the waves" technique.

    • @zestrolvox
      @zestrolvox 2 года назад +2

      Is it worth your time to create these disposable toons? Assuming you have all the recruits and all rewards unlocked. How long does it take to get to the point where you can claim 100% of the rewards? I thought some had hours played requirements and they changed some of the rewards so you get them staggered at different levels leading up to 65? Or is 20 the sweet spot where it's quick and easy to get most of the rewards but its not worth it to continue leveling for the few that are left to get?

    • @antarfodoh
      @antarfodoh 2 года назад +2

      @@zestrolvox Jem'Hadar require 20hrs played, but everyone else can start claiming rewards at level 20 with the rest of the reclaims unlocking as you go along. I've found that if you have at least half of the recruit rewards completed (half of the four, or any two complete) it's enough to make it worthwhile, while more is obviously optimal. I can generally level a toon to 20 in exactly 120mins (my personal best when not distracted) or 2.5hrs if I take my time a bit while running elite patrols right after skipping the 2408 Fed tutorual. With all 4 recruits complete, 2ish hrs to level 20 nets me approx 30k ore, 30k fleet dil, 9k choice of marks (I take fleet), 3m ec, some ultra rare craftables, and a few other odds and ends. I'll often go the extra push to level 30 for just a bit more reclaims, but then have to weigh time vs reward on whether leveling to 65 for 100% is worthwhile. If you have a friend who is also running a disposable, you can level to 30 in the same 2ish hours.
      I hope that covers everything, and thanks for the amazing questions!

    it would be cool to expand its purpose to run these patrol missions that spawn endless waves of enemies, to really turn it into in to an EC grinding ship.

    You can make a lot more EC per minute even with tour the galaxy which is widely considered as one of the worst EC grinds in the game... You're better off just running some federation of planets admiralty missions. Even with less ships on a new f2p account you can get decent EC by paying attention to the EC events in the admiralty missions.

      Sort of easier but a bit less EC as I understand it. I think that vendor will give you 50% while on my ship I get 40% of list price.

    im still using the gold old flipping Doffs.
    * buy cheap very rares
    * flip them to rare - sell the aux2bat/ photonic cooldown ones for a mark up
    * flip rare to uncommon - sell the aux2bat/ photonic cooldown ones for a mark up
    * flip uncommon to common - sell all but sell the aux2bat/ photonic cooldown ones for a mark up
    Do this on 5 toons and see the Ec come rolling in. On average days playing the market passively i make around 75 mil. It really all depends on the market and which doff trends there are. EG a new carrier comes out i tend to sell way more pet doffs, If there are alot of vids about photonic officers, i sell those a lot more. Aux2bat always sells same as Photonic cooldowns, also critD and critH doffs always sell for a nice price.
    ***Bonus tip 1***
    Keep an eye out for posts on the exchange that are "steals". I recently purchased 50(!) very rare doffs for 5.000 Ec each. wich made me a lot of money over night.
    *** Bonus Tip 2***
    2.1 use your acount bank as money to "invest" in stuff you buy from the Exchange. keep a set amount here (mine is 100 mil)
    2.2 everything above the 100 mil get taken by my "money mule" this is where i really store my Ec for big buys (xx of 47, ships etc)
    2.3 dont store any money on your play/grind toons. Do the TFO/ Patrol/ whatever, vendor your loot and head over to your bank to dump it.
    With these tips im really making a lot of Ec (400mil is not unheard of) and okay it takes away some "play time" but almost having the complete xx of 47 set, various ships and some really nice stuff helps alot.
    Hope these tips help!
    also im putting together a paper guide on how to make money using the Exchange, grind stuff etc. if you re interested let me know!

    If you have a Macro Keyboard you can automate this for both space and ground.
    I use the keys F and G keys. You can use whatever you want.
    1) Go to options "Basic" and set autoloot to on
    2) Go to options/Keybinds, go to the "Targeting & Interactions" section. Set "Interact" to F. Go to the bottom of Keybinds to the "Miscellaneous" section and set "Roll need on loot" to G.
    3) On your macro keyboard create a macro that presses the F and G keys every 2 seconds (we don't want it to interfere with your spacebar macro, STO has a hard time if you force too many keypresses per second).
    4) When you enter a TFO/Mission/Patrol start your keyboard macro.
    Vacuum up all the loot while fighting the bad guys, profit!
    Do Not forget to turn the keyboard macro off at the end of the tfo/mission/patrol or havoc, chaos and mayhem will occur. You can check to see it its on by clicking the chat window where you enter text.
    Sometimes there will be so many drops that you will need to hit F several time to get them all at the end.

    you should take out new and beginner out of the title as this is misleading, a new and beginner player is nowhere near as powerful as you are in this video and will not kill ships as fast as you are doing and therefore will not get as many drops. I tried this and I get maybe max 5 or 6 drops the entire patrol

I've watched several from different people and they all fall down at that hurdle. I do love MCSTU's videos though, he's by far the best i've seen. Try it in real F2P. You know, a fully new character without the benefits of a bunch of older P2W characters and stuff. For example you use a C-Store ship at start, addad the Kobayashi Maru from a previous event, etc. And definitely you used the account bank to transfer a huge pile of things to this character. In this light this video is practically irrelevant for a new player.
