    I really dig the content. Seems like there’s a growing interest in these high power small package boats. Hard to beat what they almost perfected in the 70’s-80’s

      For sure, especially when the boat's can be had for a pretty good price, even one's already restored and the structure under the floor redone (VERY important on the Hydrostream boat's!).. motors can be had for a great price as well!!

    I have a buddy who offered to squat in the washwell of my Volero and hug the Big Evinrude at 95 mph moving the weight back and requiring less trim. I said not going to happen! WTF! We eventually hit 101 after lots of motor work, carb changes and lots of props. GAWD that was 30 years ago.

    Most living on the edge experience I have ever had was running down the Saint Johns in a Vking with a 200 black max. I was in the back, I had bruises across my back from the seat piping for 2 weeks afterward. Might have been a few wake jumps in the ride. The driver was top notch.

    Mine was a Blue and Silver metal flake I bought in '82 and put a brand new 200 Black Max on when i bought it. I used a 18 inch set back and a 28 inch chopper and the boat ran 86. I sent the heads to Suncoast cycles in Safety harbor and had Tim take .150 off them then had Diamond marine put a 15 inch midsection on it, a light weight flywheel, and 31 cleaver and it ran 94 mph without actually taking the power head out and doing porting and crank work. These boats have hit well over 100 mph (one guy has run 109 in one) but as you are aware they get squirrely. yours looks very nice by the way, enjoy. FYI I used to live in Everglades City so you understand what i used mine for. 🤣

    Nice ride. Looks like it handles like my Voyager XT. I got 98 out of it with a Monty Racing Mod III V6 Looper, but it's down right now. Found a 3.6 L V8 Looper that I'm working on dialing in right now. Hole shot is my issue. Turning a 32 cleaver.
    I like how the driver runs it fairly flat, typically stream owners try to fly them way too high. It's got a great angle of attack on the water.

    • @robertjackson7590
      @robertjackson7590 2 года назад

      Is yours the early XT that had rails on each side of the pad? Are they filled in?
      ruclips.net/video/VU-oMZjCHDw/видео.html
      16 seconds into this video.

    • @atheplummer
      @atheplummer 2 года назад

      @@robertjackson7590 All XT hulls, early or late have the exact same bottom. The outboard 'sponsons' are about 2" above the pad and act as air entrapment 'gull' wings to trap air, creating lift. Also the shape of the sponsons act like shock absorbers when in rough water or traversing large wakes. Very stable, other than any pad style hull will chine walk. The XT hull is the best riding V I've ever experienced.
      Back in the day, Hydrostream made the XT hull on the Vegas (much more common, closed deck) and the Voyager. You could get either the XT or they made pad V hull. You could get it outboard or I/O.
      I had a buddy that had one of the pad V hulls designed for a I/O, but he had a Outboard screwed to it.
      The video you linked is awesome. Mine is similar, but he's done quite a bit of what looks to be carbon fiber customization.
      If your thinking about finding one, be very careful, as Hydrostreams are notorious for basla core rot and transom rot. They can be restored & are worth doing, but factor the cost of doing such into the purchase price.

    • @robertjackson7590
      @robertjackson7590 2 года назад

      @@atheplummer No, that's my boat in the video and when Jim Cotzen got the molds for the 2000 and newer XT's he updated the pad and lowered the sponsons. He also updated the top cap with a lot smoother lines, cup holders, etc.
      What year model is yours?
      I did replace my floor, reinforced the transom and retroed the dash. All with epoxy , carbon and S2 glass.
      It's a retirement distraction.
      These are some of the best boats built bang for the buck.

    • @atheplummer
      @atheplummer 2 года назад +1

      @@robertjackson7590 Hmm. I've actually spoken to Cotzen back in the day.... He never mentioned that he updated the bottom. I do know he updeated the top cap. Me personally, I liked the old bow design (which I have, Mines a 89). Thanks for clarifying the differences.
      I love what you've done with your boat... Kudo's. I need to redo mine too. Maybe a winter project. I really like how you lowered the windshield on your rig. That's the ONE thing I don't like about my boat. I always wanted to find a set of Valero windshields and try to fit them on it.
      I'm going to subscribe to your channel, I'd like to communicate with you in the future.

    Sure needs center steering....If you really want to pick up some top end numbers take the windshield off. These boats definitely don't like weight. Two big fellas in it can dam near take 5mph straight off the top. I ran a Hill 29" Chopper and loved it. My hull was a Sterling Dominator though. Hull the same but windshield pretty different.

    • @randolphduke
      @randolphduke 8 месяцев назад

      You could take the windshield off to go a couple miles an hour faster, unfortunately, you would ruin the look of an otherwise beautiful boat if you did that. These need to stay they way they were from the factory. Don't trash the looks of one of the most beautiful boats ever made, IMO.
