I don't know why dave is complaining about having to hold onto parts while reloading and swapping out the new and spent cartridges, he could just hold all of it in that magnificent beard
We're still in the middle of the 100 year anniversary of World War 1 and there are a ton of interesting WWI games and media coming out right now. In this special episode of Backyard Battlefield I'm going to take a look at the primary Russian sidearm of World War one and compare it to a few recent games!
Wow, I didn't think I would love this as much as I did. Your interest and passion for the subject translates really well into your voice. It was so informative and to the point that I would expect there to be an excellent script behind it, but you still kept the feeling of just setting up a camera and talking to the audience like we're there in the moment with you. Here's hoping that in the future the youtube and patreon money will let you buy all the guns you want so I get more entertainment! ;P
Dave, my boy, i think that the method of eject and reload one by one have the advantage of having ALLWAYS at lest one round ready to be indexed and fired, pretty much like the mid 70's police manuals for hand ejactors.
Great presentation. I 'd wish Dave would be more popular than all the dufus game hipsters on YT . Plus as a gfx artist. and YTuber ..primo personality .
I think you reloaded the Nagant revolver faster than in BF1 lol DAVE please do a gameplay video on Tannanburg (not sure of spelling it) Im on the hunt for a realistic new fps war game. Cheers bro. And amazing video as always :)
Thanks! That was one of the most instructive and entertaining videos I have EVERY seen! I have a 1895 Nagant Revolver. Mine is a 1944 Izhevsk arsenal manufacture. I have been shooting 32 S&W Long with scotch tape wrapped around the case to reduce case expansion but have ordered the proper ammo. Can't wait to try it out.
You have one hell of a backyard, dude. Great video! I was pleasantly surprised to see you dive into the gun's history handling quirks so much rather than glossing over it to focus on its game appearances like others might. Also, that uniform's great.
The reason why the cylinder pin doesn't come out when the ejector is turned completely to the right is so it doesn't fall out when ejecting spent cases. Imagine ejecting your spent shells only to find out your cylinder pin fell out and disappeared making your sidearm useless. The cylinder was only taken out for cleaning and maintenance.
Man I haven't seen anyone else with an M95, she sure is nice lookin', that nagant looks pretty good too, need to get me one. Anyway nice video as usual Dave!
The cardboard boxed ammo is post war ammo, the stuff I have is dated 78. You can get them packed in the famous spam cans. They are corrosive and are usually a heavier grain bullet and much hotter than modern ammo.
Great little review. I don't think you mentioned what kind of ammunition you are shooting. Today's target loads are pretty underpowered. I put original Russian surplus through ballistics gel with surprising results.
Really intersting video and the Nagant in the exellent condition of the Tsar Era, I'm Russian myself (but by nationality I'm Pole). If it's not a secret where did you get it? The Tsarist revolts remained very few, most of them were made at the Tula factory in the days of the Soviet Union. P.S. Всем привет и хорошего дня.
I'd say u were doing a pretty respectable job with it! I could imagine smoothing out the trigger squeeze on the double action would take alotta practice. but u did good! I was unaware of these. not too shabby!
I have this revolver in double action, but the trigger pull is so bad, that ya have to put pressure on the trigger to the left of the frame ,while pulling the trigger or it will slip out of place and spin the cylinder wildly. Works great in single action though.
I have one and I found that if you hit the case just on the rim with the ejector it ejects out faster and with more leverage. Still a very slow load but still. Also I would have gotten so excited if I saw that revolver in a store, mines a 1944 Tula.
I would love to see if he could find a Mosin Nagant rifle from the first world war. I have one at my apartment but it's in such bad condition that it is likely never to fire a round again. The trigger and bolt have been deliberately sawed and the barrel has something jammed in it.
I'm definitely not a gun person (I support handgun/hunting rifle possession for self-defense and hunting, though) and have more of an interest in swords, but I have to say that this series is really neat. Guns have gotten progressively less interesting from what I can tell, and even though that revolver may be really impractical by today's standards, there's a certain elegance to it. It's a shame that the monstrous Bolsheviks had to use such an elegant weapon to murder the Tsar and his family. :\
Reminds me of a role-playing game where we were convicted prisoners sent out with only knives to help our home dictatorship win a battle against another nation. If we survived, we were free. :P
you look like tsar Nicholas the 2nd. you have his beard that's for sure! that surplus ammo you have is 70's manufacture, believe it or not nagant revolver ammo was made up until the 80s
I just Realized, that with that Russian hat, Dave kinda looks like Tzar Nicholas II
He does look like the Czar.
I don't know why dave is complaining about having to hold onto parts while reloading and swapping out the new and spent cartridges, he could just hold all of it in that magnificent beard
That's where I keep all of the extra pre-loaded cylinders

EvilViking13 Awesome video! I picked up one of thede made in 1941 a few weeks ago and I love it! I want to suppress it too how sweet would that be!!
EvilViking13 its easy to shoot a waterbottole but what about your melon knifing skills (call of duty 4 modern warfare 1)
EvilViking13 Good Choice of Uniform Dave!
What state is this

Thanks for the kind words Sofia! Yes, as you can tell I always enjoy making these just a bit. There should be plenty more in the future!
You know he's good in bed - Dave 2017
The production quality of these videos is absolute gold.
Joel is a video wizard
Only fast reload for the M1895 is a New York (or maybe Moscow ?) reload.
Just wanna give Joel a shout out for being a good friend to Dave. You're the best, Joel.
David K. Jones thanks!
David K. Jones Aye
Dave, my boy, i think that the method of eject and reload one by one have the advantage of having ALLWAYS at lest one round ready to be indexed and fired, pretty much like the mid 70's police manuals for hand ejactors.
That makes a lot of sense!
Víctor Verola Good point.
1:48 wow! that's a shot straight out from history, amazing and terrifying
never really watched these before, very enjoyable actually. now to find the other ones...
A youtube video or a History channel documentary?! Really well filmed and edited, nice
Superb video. I enjoyed it immensely. You are a real professional.
You make Gun Jesus proud
ChopStick Pony Gun Jesus has many Disciples....
Dave, you have gone a long way but damn, you are getting better every video! (Thinks about DayZ era..)
Thanks man!
HOLY FUCK THE SOUND THE BOLT MAKES IN TANNEBERG SOUNDS AMAZING
Joel shot this beautifully!
This is why I preffer the TT 33
I love the Minuteman hat
Good eye soldier
Fun to watch as always, did i mention how much i love that uniform on you?
Great presentation. I 'd wish Dave would be more popular than all the dufus game hipsters on YT . Plus as a gfx artist. and YTuber ..primo personality .
I cannot unsee the ammo for this thing as being uncircumcised, and the side by side comparison with the .45 and 9mm rounds only reinforces that 😂
I think you reloaded the Nagant revolver faster than in BF1 lol DAVE please do a gameplay video on Tannanburg (not sure of spelling it) Im on the hunt for a realistic new fps war game. Cheers bro. And amazing video as always :)
I love the fact you did the second type of reload o really really wanted to see that in real life. Thanks for video fricking love this gun

It's good to see a responsible gun owner.
Man I haven't seen anyone else with an M95, she sure is nice lookin', that nagant looks pretty good too, need to get me one. Anyway nice video as usual Dave!

What a great find of a channel!
RangerDave, last of the Romanovs.
If you looked at the frame, you would see that the proper way to put the cylinder in is from right to left.
Wow just wow your so lucky you have such iconic and beautiful guns
I'd say u were doing a pretty respectable job with it! I could imagine smoothing out the trigger squeeze on the double action would take alotta practice. but u did good! I was unaware of these. not too shabby!

Honestly, the history of historical firearms intrigue me, and it pleases the general
I remember when you can get one for $100 with a holster. I still want one along with a Makarov and Tokarev.
Does general Dave have an Air Force, I mean he did defeat the brother hood.
Theres something about these old smaller caliber milutary service revolvers that is just so cool.
I have one and I found that if you hit the case just on the rim with the ejector it ejects out faster and with more leverage. Still a very slow load but still. Also I would have gotten so excited if I saw that revolver in a store, mines a 1944 Tula.
Godamn, General Dave looks awesome with his majestic beard
It also means its more efficient power wise because of the lack of, gas escape.
Good job Dave keep up the good work
My grand father told me he used the cleaning rod or a stick to eject the empties rather than the rod.
Soda is my favorite enemy at the range.
Dave get the militia rifle mod for fallout.
But my M14
Imagine walking around in the woods and you see this guy.
+you're nan "Have I gone back in time!?"
A steyr m1912 would be pretty cool to see in this series
Even though dave is such a nerd, that beard makes him look pretty badass sometimes
Your jackat is so cool.
What jacket are you sporting in this?
Awesome video...thanks
I didn't know BreakThevices has a gun channel
Russians went from Schofield to this, can you even imagine that
Russian military bureaucracy, they made a decent rifle but the 1895 revolver was a step backward. Kinda reflects the government and military.
One would have thought that the quickest reload would be to punch the expended case out, and then immediately replace it with a loaded round?
I would love to see if he could find a Mosin Nagant rifle from the first world war. I have one at my apartment but it's in such bad condition that it is likely never to fire a round again. The trigger and bolt have been deliberately sawed and the barrel has something jammed in it.
Awesome Video :)
2/10 no survival tips
R A N G E R D A V E
BrosisJK G E N E R A L D A V E
I'd say S O O N but it's more honestly E V E N T U A L L Y - it'll be well worth the wait though!
Ranger Dave!
Great!
Great vid
For the motherland comrade
It's the bloody PUBG revolver that keeps getting me killed reloading lol
shitty game
The Woolly Eel I like it
On this revolver was sentence ,, императорский тульский завод" That's revolver was on first world war
Wait, this isn't Ranger Dave's Survival Tips!
where did you get that jacket with that double headed eagle pin
5:44 He looks like Shia LaBeouf.
was gonna leave a weird funny comment but this video was really informative and cool. (critical critic ghost hit *+200*)
hey Ranger Dave's survival tips
Imagine trying to load that thing while under fire...
What cal is the original ammunation
Is this a double action officer issue revolver or a single action standard version
Where do you find the Nagant revolver?
Hail commisar dave
Where did you get your cap?
The 1891 Mosin-Nagant rifles are almost non-existent these days. Everyone can get a 91/30 though
I'm definitely not a gun person (I support handgun/hunting rifle possession for self-defense and hunting, though) and have more of an interest in swords, but I have to say that this series is really neat. It's a shame that the monstrous Bolsheviks had to use such an elegant weapon to murder the Tsar and his family. :\
Where did you find your revolver?
I can only presume the revolver was used in case of an emergency so to speak, when your main weapon was out of ammo or jammed.
no one gives a pistol for fighting....
Reminds me of a role-playing game where we were convicted prisoners sent out with only knives to help our home dictatorship win a battle against another nation. If we survived, we were free. :P
Nice beard
US Army Burton 1917 LMR DLC
you look like tsar Nicholas the 2nd. you have his beard that's for sure! that surplus ammo you have is 70's manufacture, believe it or not nagant revolver ammo was made up until the 80s
one of three that can be suppressed
That should be Ukrainian letter 'i' that is used in marking the inscription 'Императорскiй'
Mmmm revolving nuggets
Hickok 45 is the best
I own an mosin and the Nagant revolver, the rifle is amazing in every way but the revolver is absolutely terrible
This weapon is a sealing revolver, yet another reason why the trigger is so bad.
OMFG what a horrible way of reloading a revolver LOL

did you know you can suppress that revolver. you can suppress the world's worst revolver.
GSsuperbird
And what's worse is that, probably, this could be the only revolver you can suppress.
There are far, far worse guns than this one.
