PPU loads ammo for the Nagant revolver. I have no extraction issues using it with mine. With the old surplus ammo it sticks damn near every time.

Man, that Nagant M1895 is on my "buy it if you find it" list. I've wanted one for ages, ever since you introduced me to firearms with the Mosin Nagant M91/30 I decided on for my first gun. I was immediately hooked on guns and immediately wanted a proper sidearm to pair with the M91/30! I should have prioritized one back then, when they were more available and cost effective.
I'd absolutely love to suppress one, because that's rad, even though it's not the most practical revolver by any means, it's just awesome.

  • @angrybajur
    @angrybajur 3 года назад +11

You guys got just one detail wrong: Only a handful of single-action Nagant revolvers were made. While the Imperial Russian Army's original idea was to have the majority of the army use single-action revolvers and only issue double-action revolvers to high-ranking officers, this idea was rescinded and they instead decided to have only double-action revolvers. After this decision, all Nagant revolvers made afterwards, including those made by the Soviet Union, were double-action.

I own a Nagant Revolver and it is one of those guns that is scoffed at a lot. But let me tell you, I've learned quite a bit about this unique gun shooting/training with it. It is a lost art how to shoot and load/unload it properly. I've learned a great technique that nobody seems uses to extract and load cartridges. It's all about technique and some finesse. Lots of folks use the improper way to unload the Nagant Revolver and I found my technique works pretty efficiently. I'm still researching how to load it quickly and I found using .32ACP reloading strips work great.

  • @NohorseRU

From what I understand, these were mostly a secondary type thing, "оружие последнего шанса" some called it, to go with your rifle and sabre. For use when your rifle is out, and if the problem persists after you squeezed off those 7 rounds, your last option would be melee - since reloading it is out of the question, haha.
It's no wonder it remained in "kinda sort of" service for personnel like railway guards and such - the type of guys that really only fire it once every five years to scare off an animal or a hooligan.
When I served I heard rumors that unopened boxes of these are still stored (or even used?) at some very remote military bases, though by 2012 it sounded more like an urban myth. Many of those crates ended up in criminal hands in the 90's.

    1) AFAIK, in Russia, the rifle is known as the "Vintovka Mosina"...Mosin's Rifle. No mention of Emile Nagant's contribution (the captive magazine spring), and I'm convinced his brother Leon's revolver is a big reason for that.
    2) After firing one of these, I realized that the way to use a Nagant revolver in double action is to wire it securely to a tree, pointing in the direction of the enemy. Attach a sturdy chain to the trigger, and connect the other end to a tractor from the local collective farm. When the enemy approach, put the tractor in gear, run away, and hope the tractor doesn't stall before the pistol fires.
    3) The M1895 Nagant revolver is the perfect combat sidearm...
...to keep in a glass case, so that when someone starts crying about how sh*t their issue sidearm is, you can give them the Nagant and let them try a session with it instead.

I honestly love this handgun from a shooting perspective. Wouldn't carry one but they are fun. Double action is a bit of a bear, but I put enough rounds down range when I first got it (was my first handgun) that I could dump a cylinder at 25 yards and not miss the man size silhouette. I do however kinda regret picking it over what was sitting next to it. Guy didn't understand the value of what he had. This was my sons first pistol at 16yrs old. He would clean it every time he used it. We bought new ammo CPPU and never had a sticking problem. He now has a PO8 Luger and a Mauser Red 9 broom handle. He recently purchased a Walther P38 and loves it. We did not know about the Nagant double action being a officers gun. Thanks for the information

I bet there was some fraud, but I think the bigger cause was the Trump voters( not Republican voters generally, the Trump voters specifically) did not trust that the election would be free and fair and US did not bother to show up cast their ballot in what they believed to be a fraudulent election they would surely lose.
The sad reality though is that probably created a self-fulfilling prophecy in Georgia where they did lose.
If the Trump voters would just have not given the Republicans the middle finger and instead showed up and voted like they did in November, the Republicans would have retained the Senate.

I want to point out something about the recent elections.
This is the first time since the mid 70's that the NRA was not a major factor in getting people to vote. We all watched as part of the NRA recently imploded and got neutered politically. Many RUclipsrs spoke out against the NRA and some encouraged support of other organizations to support our second amendment rights. No group other than the NRA had the ability to reach out to and really influence the public. This channel for example speaks to 2.46 million subscribers, which is a large audience, but we already vote pro second amendment.
We all talk about the high demand for firearms and ammunition. There are so many first time gun owners that need to learn about the threat to the second amendment. Our rights are now at risk and we need a strong organization to help us. I've been a member of the NRA for many years (just a regular member) and I really think that we need to support this association to fight for our rights. RUclipsrs are informative and entertaining and I support their efforts. Unfortunately, channels like Iraqveteran8888 are not heard by the general population.
No pro gun organization had a meaningful effect on these recent elections and look at what happened. I'm asking everyone to reconsider and support the NRA. Write and call the NRA to tell them what you like and what you don't like. They can be influenced. If there are other groups that you prefer, fund them as well.
We got our butts kicked and it's going to be an uphill climb going forward.
Please don't destroy me in comments. I've heard you, now you hear me.
    Thanks

"These guns are not known for their accuracy"
Yeah mine shoots like a charm, the Surplus Ammo is hot and packs more of a punch compared to the commercial PPU stuff. The Surplus Ammo is also corrosive, unreloadable, and accurate like 75% of the time, but with using reloads it can be quite accurate. I reload using commercial brass by ppu and I mostly be recreating the Russian 108 grain load. If you are in a hard place and cant find the proper ammo you can also shoot .32 s&w long out of them ( bear in mind eventually you will have a lot of lead fowling and build-up) and you can make cases using 223/ 30 carbine brass.

Soviet Union didn't produce SA "soldiers model", those were made only during the imperial times.
DA pull strength can be up to 12 kg. There were "practice revolvers" before WWII with the striker "beak" removed, used just for dry firing to get used to the heavy DA.
In SA mode these revolvers have one neat property - there is practically zero trigger movement after the breaking point, allowing for good accuracy, which helped to design some guns for sports based on the same mechanism, but with adjustable target sights (TOZ-36, "Khaidurov's revolver" made in 1960-es).

Once you master the DA trigger on a Nagant revolver you never have issues with any other trigger again. Ive read it’s a 20 pound pull, mine was 26 pounds and single action was 12 pounds. All that aside I really loved my Nagant, but the ammo isn’t cheap and like I said it shot about 5 feet high. So I sold it.
