I think this is some of the best voice acting I've seen in a game. Everyone feels like a person, not just an actor reading off a script. This feels like a group of scared shitless oil rig workers way in over their heads.
totally agree, ye!
What I appreciate about this game is that it's disturbing and terrifying without cheap jump-scares. The creatures strike that beautiful perfect depth in the Uncanny Valley so that even when they're not that tough to get past, they are genuinely horrible and I don't want to even be in the same room as them. Even the ones just hanging on the walls are enough to turn my stomach. Lesser games have to resort to BOO! tactics to get this level of adrenaline.
What's even worse is that the thing itself - not the converted humans, but the ribbon-tentacles - is actually beautiful. Almost like fleshy rainbows twirling through the rig. That makes the horror of the wormy-centipede-human things even worse.
I've just gotten past the giant Rennick-head in the corridor. I had to quit for a few minutes after that.
For folks having a giggle about the fuse boxes not needing all their fuses-- this is actually a thing! Though there's also usually a little tin for burnt out fuses to be disposed of appropriately.
On an industrial work site every fuse box is wired for the specific equipment around it, so the fuses are all a *very specific and often atypical spec* that isn't mass manufactured. Thus when one fuse dies, you have 3 more while you wait for the next shipment to arrive. That's another reason for the tin-- bringing it up to where stocks are tallied allows them to be marked as used up and change the number of available spares in the crew ledger! :D
Father is an electrical engineer, hubby does the same job but on submarines for the US Navy, and my brother builds lil gadgets for fun and to entertain his kiddos :3
thanks for sharing that!
@@LIZZgame Happy to! :3
I have visited a couple of oil rigs (production platforms though) for work purposes on a few occasions, but I wasn't aware of this. But I appreciate the attention to detail; other than being "scaled down" a notch with a few things missing (no laboratory for evaluating samples etc iirc), minor things like "pipe spools" being too short, it's amazingly accurate. Deck piping penetrations, the area "types" involved, the pathsways (a bit too narrow here from what I remember), helideck entrance and below helideck, under rig, the utterly cramped spaces you sometimes needed to navigate and work in and so on. Hell, they even got the "need to go down to go up" they nailed in the beginning.
I'm glad they didn't make the Scottish accent any broader. It's clear, readable, and understandable. Can't say the same about some real Scots in my company; just a basic casual conversation and I'm just left in the dark guessing every "word" that is uttered. Okay, "word" is a stretch, more like foreign noises.
GOOOOSH the whole scene with Rennik at 24:00 is SO GOOD. The body language, the gestures, the FABRICS!! THEY DON'T CLIP INTO ONE ANOTHER! THEY MOVE!! HOLY CRAP!
Glorious
when you realize addir lost his kid. if you read the note on addir's bed carefully from trots it says at the bottom 'sorry to hear about your wee lad'. his kid died...jesus.
I never tire of watching different people play this game for the first time, thank you for sharing your playthru!!
thank YOU for watching it!!
I'm glad they toned down the swearing in this 😂
they did?
@@LIZZgame I think there’s an option in settings that block out the swearing so that you can’t hear it. I couldn’t hear the swearing when TheRadBrad played this game.
BEIRA (the name of the rig) is the name of the Celtic Goddess of Winter.
What a phenomenal game and an amazing walkthrough. Thank you.
I’m absolutely loving this game (easily one of my favourites this year) and I especially love the authenticity of the cast (especially their accents 😂). Everyone involved did a top-tier job at making the characters feel exactly like a group of terrified oil rig workers thrown in the deep end and just struggling to survive in a terrifyingly Lovecraftian horror scenario. Plus the Beira D oil rig is a great environment and seeing how it changes over the course of the game is fascinating.
Watching you play, I just love how expressive you are and that you also take the time to read everything and look around and explore as best you can. It really helps immerse us in the experience.
I’m really looking forward to watching you play more of this game.
Hej! I loved the game too!
Thanks for watching my playthrough!
I am so happy you gave this game a try Lizz!

Glady! Love me some good horror!
Just stumbled onto this! Great game so far and good voice acting.
thx for let's playin' this game
welcome in! And thanks for watching!
Finally a game with actually scary monsters :)
more heartbreaking than horror
I think it was okay, not a very scary horror game, but just in general I enjoy the theme. I played so many horror games, I am just not that scared anymore haha
But the voice acting and the atmosphere they have built was phenomenal!
Reminds me of the movie Proteus, that was a horror Sci-fi on an oil rig with an English cast.
@user-dh1yn5mj9v amazon have a series called "the rig" that is basically the same premise as this game. Lovecraftian horror on a scottish oil rig.
English? Don't let the scots hear you say that lol
Nice to see you again with another walkthrough 🥰🥰🥰
Phew what a marvelous dark ride this is!
my gpu struggles to play this but LIZZ is my go to gamer :0
I finished this game the other day it was good not too long.

No Shepherd's pie on the Christmas menu 😂😂😂😂.
Since ye're lazy an' striking, I'm cancelling yer Christmas haggis!
Loved this playthrough. Thanks again for another great video... much love to the channel... Never knew about this game looks interesting and creepy. Loved it ❤
it gets even more creepy in the next parts!
Great game and walkthrough!
This game is awesome it reminds me of P.T. the silent hills Demo they came out back in 2014 mixed with that movie the thing cause how the people's turning in the monsters and everything so far I'm still kind of at the Beginning /middle but it's really good
Lovely Playthrough ✌🏻🙂
thanks for watching!
“The Nasty Fella.” Should be the new name for P.Diddy…
That was awesome! Thanks alot! 🎉❤
Thanks for watching!!
I already own it! Just a matter of time, hehe.
Nice to watch your gameplay Both graphic and action sequences looks great( and scottish accent- its imposible not to smile while hear it). Now, i know its all about taste but is the plot engaging?
I felt it was, yea!
Now see... after watching Deepwater Horizon and playing this it's safe to say you will never see me step foot on one of those things lol
lol
Hi LIZZ, hope you're having good fun with this game. The trailer looked very interesting for me so I decided to play the game too. But I am a little sad because my gaming laptop can't handle it so good. And playing it with 30 FPS on my Xbox is impossible. So I will play it on my PS5 sometimes. I hope soon.
ahh sorry to hear!
I did enjoy it a lot!
@@LIZZgame Nice to hear that LIZZ
FUN FACT: This game has the highest rate of c-words per sentence of any game in history.
I mean... Scottish, I guess.
First in Scottish.
cool
👍👍
it’s been bothering me for a minute so i have to ask, are you canadian or something
cause you have a slight accent and i don’t know where to place it
@@whereistheserotonin if i remember correctly, born in germany, lives in switzerland
@@whereistheserotonin neither. German, but I don't have a German accent.. I have a mix of all English accents I heard when trying to learn English. (UK, US, AUS etc.) I really try to pronounce words more British
You are using a tiny bit of Jonna Jinton's vocals in the end credits, please give her some credits please, she is a wonderful singer!
ruclips.net/video/KvtT3UyhibQ/видео.html here is the video
Actually, I do not. That's my own voice that I recorded :) I do Kulning and am a hobby singer myself! I don't just use content from others knowingly. I am a big fan of Jonna!
If you listen closely to both, you can hear the difference in the voices. Here you can hear my sound a bit more clearly:

@@LIZZgame i am very sorry, it sounded exactly like her video, my bad!
@@neonsvampen1 no worries. Jonna is one of my favorite RUclipsrs, so it's also a bit cool to be confused with her haha
