  • Installing a turbosmart actuator, keeping o.e.m mounting bracket. Astra vxr k04 turbocharger.
    This actuator is a turbosmart type, bought from Courtney autosport UK. You can add and remove the gate spring to change opening base boost pressure.
    Thanks for watching.

      I'm not sure on the exact specs of the forge unit. Should be written in instructions, maybe on a website? They might be similar but would pay to check.

    I bought a second hand turbo with the turbo smart actuator already on it, i installed the turbo and since then my cars been over boosting do I follow the same instructions because this actuator was already set up for another 300bhp vxr so I don’t know how much turns I need to do

    • @boosthit811

      They may have fitted a heavier spring inside. The standard 1 should be 10psi. Yes I would follow the instructions as in the video 👍

    Hi mate recently had my astra h vxr mapped by rnd motorsport
    It made 305 Bhp at stage 3 with a standard brand new complete borgwarner gm turbo with a brand new actuator etc
    They said the standard actuator was holding it back a little and recommend the turbosmart version
    My question is will I be ok to swap to the turbosmart without issues occurring eg limp mode from too much boost or needing another remap?
    And if it's ok to use the turbosmart version what spring would you recommend?
    Cheers mate

    • @boosthit811
      @boosthit811  4 года назад +1

      I do like the turbosmart products. I've had no issues with my one. What exhaust are you running? If your going for the new actuator the standard 10psi spring will be fine.
      With regards to remap its always safer to get them to check the tune. But if you just have 3inch exhaust, fmic and aem filter on a fresh ish engine they can do almost 325hp so you are probably only leaving 10/15hp on the table. May want to wait until you do some bigger mods-turbo, cams etc. Its up to you mate.

      Cars done 120k but has recently had a rebuilt cylinder head with the new turbo
      Main reason I ask is they moved the rev limiter when they mapped to 7k rpm just feeling a bit of turbo lag at the bottom end but from 4-7k it pulls like an absolute train
      Just wondering if the turbosmart actuator will give a faster spool and more initial kick/hit from the turbo compared to the brand new borgwarner actuator
      Don't really want to spend any more money on forging or more power just want to make best use of the power that Is already there
      Before the remap I had a generic cheap 12 psi actuator it gave the turbo a really good initial kick/hit but the car kept jumping into limp mode over 5k from to much overboost

    Could you do this with the Mani and turbo on the car still? Or setting up preload and what have you?

    • @boosthit811
      @boosthit811  5 лет назад +1

      Yes you could......I would unbolt the old bracket tho so you can get to it with a drill or fit the new turbosmart bracket.
      The preload set up is quite straight forward. Just wind the nut up (clockwise) until wont turn by hand, then give it a further 2 complete turns clockwise. Thats the preload done, then just lock the back nut off without moving the front preload nut.
