  • To coincide with the new Disney+ documentary film, The Beach Boys have released a digital compilation album with select songs from the documentary.
While I haven't seen the documentary film yet, that doesn't mean I couldn't download the album and give it a listen. Naturally, it wouldn't be a good video if we didn't go track by track and see where everything came from.
So join me to look at the one exclusive (and non-Beach Boys) song, and a selection of music sourced from Sounds of Summer, Sail on Sailor, Feel Flows, Made in California, and The Beach Boys in Concert.
What do you think of the film and album? Please comment below!

Been hearing alot of negative feedback about the documentary. But you are right about starting with compilations. In 1983 when I was 6, I would ask my parents to buy me a Beach Boys album whenever we went to a department store. Little did I know they weren't actual albums. They have titles like, 'Do it Again' and 'Surf's Up!'. I still have these tapes.

Heeey Betamax! Hope you've been well man. I have to give the Disney Plus doc a go, sounds really interesting as does the tracklist you noted. I've been meaning to watch the Beatles doc as well. Hope you feel better soon!

Well done @BetamaxBlocker! I thought the documentary was pretty good - had some footage I'd never seen before - but certainly not exactly a deep dive on the Beach Boys history. Like you said it seems more for newer, more casual, fans.

I have tickets for two different Mike and Bruce shows. Might squeeze in one more if I have time. Sadly, Brian doesn't tour anymore and no one else is coming close to me. But Mike and Bruce concerts are very fun!

Disney ruined Star Wars, and now it ruined the Beach Boys! I hated it! I recommend the 1998 VH1 documentary Endless Harmony.

That's a good one! The soundtrack for that documentary is excellent as well!
