Great review mate. Im loving all these all reviews and the discourse around the doco. My view on the doco. is a little counter to this, but I think that's ok too. And great we get to discuss these things. And also great that it leads us to finding excellent new channels to sub to like yours! I look forward to watching your vids!
Thank you. Welcome to the channel. It’s so true that we all might not have the same views on everything, but it is good and healthy to discuss what we all feel.
I really like this documentary. When Disney+ announced they were going to put this documentary after they launched the trailer, I was excited. The Beach Boys were my first 60s band I listened to before The Beatles and The Rolling Stones *(My first song was Help me Rhonda)* . I watched that trailer so many times and I couldn't wait to see it. But I was wondering if they'll include the Manson family cult situation Dennis Wilson was in, and/or the drugs Brian Wilson took during *Pet Sounds* . As soon as it came out, I watched it and I couldn't stop rewinding the part where the Beach Boys was in a sort of "rivalry" with The Beatles. I also didn't know their nickname was going to be "American Beatles" when they kept going head to head with the Fab Four. But besides that, I love the part where many people from different states had their own opinion after listening to the Beach Boys, and the recording of I Get Around.
All very good moments. I’m definitely a land locked midwesterner who loves them for that California Sun getaway feeling. Glad they did touch on some of the more eye lifting topics too. Wish they would have dived even deeper into the post Pet Sounds era. But glad they talked some about it.
It aired originally on VH1? I have the DVD, but guess I didn’t catch it on back then. What did we do before DVR’s and streaming? Answer: missed a lot of television.
I loved it... but i felt like there was so much more i wanted to know, and also i wanted to hear them sing at paradise cove! Will there be a second installment? I so hope! I know Beatles had about 3 for their Get Back movie, and Paul Simon had 2 installments in Restless Dreams. ANyway, I was most impressed. Some of that footage I have never seen before, even though I have been a fan for almost 40 years
More would be nice. Or Wouldn’t It be Nice to have more. But I think this is it. Hopefully there’ll be a physical media release with some outtakes and bonus material including the Paradise Cove jam.
@@BeatleDustinoBecause of the hype about their rendez vous at Paradise Cove, i was looking forward to that 'gig' right from the start. But it never landed in the movie, only on the cutting room floor. And Al Jardine has said he would like to see more because a lot remained untold in the final cut. Let's hope there will be more. This 1st installment is for kids who have never heard of Beach boys. Shame it wasnt for everyone.
My problem is that this should been a 4 or 5 part documentary like "The Beatles Anthology" or The Bon Jovi Documentary that aied on HULU. I stick with "Endless Harmony", The Beach Boys American Band" & the Brian Wilson documentary that came out in 1996.
Thanks for this!
You’re welcome!
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day ❤😊
Thanks.

Great review from a passionate fan.
Thanks. It was a fun documentary to watch. I wish they’d explore the 70’s and 80’s era more.
Definitely for the casual viewer, but still an enjoyable watch. Glad to hear your thoughts Dustin!
There were definitely moments I didn’t know about. But not too many. Very much enjoyed watching it either way.
Just discovered your channel keep up the excellent work.
Thank you. I’ve got loads more Beach Boys videos.
@@BeatleDustino nice.
Thanks for watching.

I’ve watched it 3 times
It was fun! I’ve been listening to The Beach Boys since I was your age. They were my intro to the Beatles.
Endless Harmony was 1998 on VH1

@@BeatleDustino i taped it when it first broadcast with the ole vcr

@ilsy74 hopefully something will come of the rest. There is a lot more to be said and seen.

The Beach Boys do deserve a 4 or 5 part documentary. I wish more would be said about post Pet Sounds era.
