Yeah how it do that?? Lol I love watching ppl who never experience depression or those thoughts but they somehow “know” how to fix it
@@devonmitchell4651 there is a broad definition of mental illnesses, some are clinically and others could very well be self/SOCIAL MEDIA induced, take your pick on which she was referring to and do YOUR research.
“Some of us spend 2 or more hours a day”
I think all of us spend over 10
Not me having an average of 10 hours...

Literally the points from Bailey parnell
Well said. The youth enjoyed watching this talk last year.
I think now our days social media is one of the most distracting things in our life because social media is not really good for our health and I think she is saying the truth we shouldn't spend too much time on social media we should spend more time on ourselves and stop comparing with each other on social media because it doesn't matter if you look good or not
She is a strong she speak about the topic really good nowadays teenagers including me a lot of issues in a social media more on negative comments specially on facebook for a lots of social media site literally understand this is you how you she explain about the issue how she's speak and stand out the about the social media how valid all the informations that she tackled about she is katanu mbeui really good role model in this generation of teenager including me she reminds us we should aware about using social media and have a limit use the social media and how we posted on social media rather be negative or positive comments starting out of the issue about social media
Strong message delivered in a subtle way. Very impressive !!
She shared quite strong points..
this is a good informative, educational speech
I found Mbevi's insights though-provoking as I found myself in her examples. Seeing only the positive side of people on social media makes us think that there is something wrong with us and the constant flow of these thoughts can indeed drive to mental issues especially in teenagers. Social media can always control what we see if we let it be that way. The worst part is that it is hard to control what to do in social media when it has already found your interests and provides you with the content that can take your attention for hours. I would hardly find any videos with such content on other platforms, but when I do, I try to convince the algorithm to suggest me more content like that. I think it is a small but a significant step towards trying to use social media in a better way.
Although I disagree that building a strong value system will help us in this challenge. Most of the time, teenagers find their values in other's content and become addicted to watching others living with their values rather than working towards it.
What about the collaborative creativity, I find it hard to determine people's intentions through social media. Only seeing them speaking positively doesn't convince me that they have positive intentions. It is not easy to see the backscreen of these people. Maybe taking advice or hearing someone's opinion on a certain topic is a good reason to follow people who try to make changes but it is not the best idea to collaborate with people who's true intentions will never be seen.
Overall, this speech can be helpful for seeing the problem which is a big step towards solving it.
Definitely one of the best ted talk episode.
Great job and coming from another teen I'm sure it will sink in to other youngsters

@@cuauhtemocarellano5455 Bailey Parnell, "Is Social Media Hurting Your Mental Health?"
Katanu is a student at Brookhouse School doing BTEC with a passion for marketing who spoke at a Ted talk in an effort to bring awareness to the “positive and negative impacts” of social media. This talk is balanced in a very general sense. Katanu talks about the Negative affects of social media: Insecurity, Social Currency, and Fear of Missing Out. She also proposes an action plan with three distinct steps: Build a strong value system, Collaborate creativity, Be yourself. While she seems to have all of the proper information in place she only really touches on these problems without including too much detail. She deserves credit for participating in her own action plan by spreading awareness about the issues affecting so many teens in our generation. The truth of these issues is shown when she lets us know that 60% of teenagers spend about 2 hours a day on their phones and says whether we like it or not this is bound to have a significant impact on our lives. Katanu is actively promoting the dignity of the human person with her action plan. She pulls relevant experience from her own life and things her mom used to tell her that made her feel better about herself, more dignified. This is important because in order to feel dignified and to trust in good things that should make us feel dignified sometimes we want proof. In this case it was a shirt her mom gave her that said “No one is you and that is your power”. I believe this talk was skillfully developed in the way that it was aimed towards the younger portion of our generation. While that may not be helpful for the older side, it may be useful for parents try and utilize this information. However, the young people are the people who will be hit the hardest by this social media craze, so it is indeed skillful. I think as a younger person, Katanu is extremely inspiring. We may not always feel confident enough to stand up for ourselves and defend our own dignity, especially with all of the need for approval stemming from social media. But she is an example of a strong woman who has found it in herself to overlook whatever she may hear in the media and she wants to spread awareness so that others can do the same.
Thanks
dude, your a life saver. thank you so much.

There are thousand reasons to not to like social media. But, still I put up with becase I can stay connected with them. However, it is true that social media could be the source of your anxiety and depression.
Here for speaking skill content xD

Yes i agree with what the speaker point out because regarding the issue it's all about social media issue in our generation teenager she's pointing out about the issue it because she have a awareness about how will you social media properly and also i agree when she said that the social media used must be putting out social media issues regarding the wisdom the way she's speech about the social media youth but we must be limited about our social media life for an hour because it can affect to our health issues we have insecurities in ourself

Normally for teenagers, schools might have Ted Ed clubs. Whereas for adults or so I think they may contact the ted ed or I've heard there are platforms where you can go and speak. Although I'm not sure i which states or countries

I AM very CONFIDENT in MYSELF and My thing is GOD Created YOU an ORIGINAL So don't Compare YOURSELF to ANYBODY and I USE My SOCIAL MEDIA to TEACH and I AM happy For EVERYBODY for What THEY do On their FB etc and NOT PB Mine and I AM 1000% My STRAIGHT PRIDE from DAY 1 SELF and Women 21 or 25 Upwards ONLY Self for ETERNITY and I POST what I want to POST and I don't CARE about Anyones FEELINGS or getting LIKES @ I AM What That I AM that I AM made LOVE Me or HATE Me that will NEVER ever CHANGE with Me 1000% more IMPORTANT is GOD is My WITNESS.
"YOU are perfect." ... unless you use social media as a way to harrass and boycott other people, in which case, YOU are not perfect and is in fact ruining this place for everyone.
which university she talks about
And that's the exact reason i will not have kids. There are only three kids in my whole family who dont have a phone and go outside to play every day.

This talk is a direct copy of Bailey Parnell's TED talk in June 2017. PLAGIARISM is not cool! Do your own work.
Yeah! I am shocked.
Wow it’s almost like it’s a copy of baileys tedtalk
Who's speech came first Bailey or hers they're both so similar. crazy on the same platform TED Talk. lol what
Trying to tell my daughter about this stuff, I don't want to just take her phone off her it's the easy way out and only puts a plaster over the issue, I want her to learn to have a phone and not have the dependency
So we are all here for school hey?
Seems like Katanu copied Bailey Parnell's Tedtalk almost exactly. 'Is Social Media Hurting Your Mental Health?'
Can I have her speech printed?
Im sorry but she is talking exactly the same as a video released on 23/6/2017, name: "Is social media hurting your mental health". Exactly the same????

It’s toxic and addicting too
She confidently ripped off Bailey Parnell’s TED talk on the same topic... like word for word.
What type of speech is in this video?
How did she get away with literally plagiarising from Bailey Parnell's Ted Talk? Word for word most of the time.
Even the voice 🙌
She literally just copied exactly what Bailey Parnell said in her speech. The same topic and same examples. Where has originality gone??
Did you think that the argument of the speaker are valid?
lol who else in school
A lot of this speech is unfortunately plagiarized 😞. She’s done a good job on delivery though 👍🏽
The educators will teach the youth only what they want the students to know, this is brainwashing.
