Anyways, this video wouldn't be anything without the loving help of some locals who I am now happy to call good friends. Not to mention the lovely ladies who were serving up some fabulous food on this day. I must say the highlight was the nuoc mam fried chicken, as it was a first for me and my southern boy self would have to say, I reaaaaaaally loved it!! I should have had fried chicken in nuoc mam a long time ago!
I hope you all enjoyed it as always! I have a lot more coming from Hanoi and I am so excited to show you all. As I continue to travel and this family continues to grow, I just want you all to know...'

I had my first taste of bun cha in Houston. What I like most about it is the enormous plate of greenery that it came with. it must have made an impression since I still remember it all these years. Even though it was really good but I'm almost certain that it's not as good as the real thing in Hanoi. they call it "bun cha Hanoi" everywhere else outside of Hanoi but in Hanoi it's just plain ol Bun cha haha.
haha Kody it is funny that you mention that, but man it is everywhere in Hanoi! Really seems to be the cities dish! Man, do not sleep on Houston though, some amazing food going on there because you have a large Vietnamese population with all the gulf seafood and cajun influence....ah lawd!!!

Im vietnamese and i just finished my trips back home in July. I writing this cuz wanna give u the best idea of the weather there. I recommend u to choose the end of December- the end of February next year for ur trips ( the best time with nicest weather , the humid not too hot these days otherwise u may get lots of trouble with humidity) trust me I’m Vietnamese and couldn’t handled crazy hot days here.

The fried roll is known as Nem ran, not just nem. Nem is a sour fermented type of pork usually wrapped in a leaf.

@@waynekerr7838 They go with hard boiled soybean sprouts or minced cucumber too. I am an expat and from time to time fancy some but they are not widely sold. Fried chicken feet? not for me.

The right way to eat bun cha is to dip the noodles into the sauce and have a big bite with pork, noodles, sauce and the veggies. You shouldn't have the sauce alone, it's not broth like phở :)) hope you enjoy Hanoi

Yeah you go and eat right place for bún chả, I'm Vietnamese, live in HCM city, I came to Hanoi in 12/2018. I deciced to eat bún chả in that place, cheap, dilicious and a lot of bún chả, rau(vegetables). I love it, i wanna come back and try this bún chả again, bro. I was born and have lived in Ha Noi for 24 years but i have never come all food stalls in this video before. I really admire that a foreigner can find "gà chiên nước mắm" in a mystery place whereas a native person like me can not.

Dip the Nem in the sauce like Bun Cha, and you should eat noodle and meat ball at the same time instead eating each every bite
