The food from Vietnam and Southeast Asia is so delicious. My girlfriend is from Vietnam 🇻🇳 and very rarely eats any other kind of food. I introduced her to the Cajun 🌶🦀🦐 cooking of Louisiana and she agreed it was the only kind of food here in the US that can compete with Vietnamese food.
cajun is very similar to vietnamese food due to the heavy french influences! alot of the places doing crawfish boil are owned by vietnamese americans, even the bread used in poboys and banh mi are the same - both variations of the french baguette
@@vanbluedragon1 Yep. Lots of Vietnamese in Louisiana and like you said, crawfish/seafood is big with the Vietnamese folks. One of the yummiest chains is The Boiling Crab, which was started by Vietnamese peeps (although I think it was from a Vietnamese person who hailed from KS). Order the whole shabang and you've got some amazingly good eats. But the the climate, geography (hot, near water), culture, French influence, etc., is familiar to the Vietnamese folks. Aside from the Cajun seafood boils, you have the coffee (Vietnamese started using Cafe du Monde brand when they couldn't get their hands on the coffee from Vietnam initially), baguette, etc.
Max you such a good kid I just want to hug you.i saw you was eating some dishes in VN it’s remind of myself what I used to eat growing in VN. Now I’m an old grandma sitting at home alone and watching you enjoying the Vietnamese street foods, you sure know how to eat and enjoy what the good food is. You’re the best of all and thank you Max you made my day. Take care Max and thank you for all your great videos.
Been watching your channel for a while, seeing you eat the food in my hometown Saigon while I'm in the States. Even though I was raised in Saigon, until now I'm still amazed by the richness of cuisine here. I did not eat every food in Saigon, not as much as you do. Your Saigon series is long . If it were short, I would still say that you need to make it longer. You don't want to miss those dishes from all the districts. I'm amazed. I mean, it's not just about the quality, it's the number of dishes. I don't know about other cities or other countries. I believe they also have many dishes as well. Most backpacking travelers or tourists only stop by each cities for a few days to a maximum of 1 month depends on their itinerary, but not everyone has the opportunity to search every corners and alleys like you for new dishes. I'm proud to say that Saigon is so diverse and rich in culture, and cuisine. The price is also unmatched. I'm also bold enough to say that if you were stuck in other country for months like this because of coronavirus, you still can't find many dishes as you have done it here in Saigon. Again, the richness amazes me. Vietnam is a country for food; in the States, there is literally NOTHING for me to eat. It's hard to find a real, fine dish here, unless you have to drive hours just to get a $11.99 (or more) meal. It's not a country for food and all that convenience, and that's my statement (lol). I'm sad to hear that you only have 1 more video from Saigon. I still support you all the way no matter where you go. Eating that many dishes from Vietnam makes you somehow a part of this country; you are one of our people now (haha). Many foodies don't eat the same dishes again because it''s all about reviewing and exploring. However, I bet you when you come back to Saigon, you will want to eat everything again, and still feel like it's the first time. I don't know if you can make a long series like this to other countries, but to what I believe, I guess that Vietnamese food is easy to eat (except Mam tom, Bun mam for those who can't handle). It's still easier than some other countries. Not too spicy like Thai's, not too oily like Chinese's, not too bland. It's just savoury. It's a blend, a combination. I'm out of my words to describe. The food is addicting , yet it's still healthier than most fast food. You can eat Banh Mi everyday as your comfort food. I reckon so. What's your favorite/comfort Vietnamese (Saigonese) food? I would love to hear yours. Mine is Com Tam and Hu Tieu Nam Vang. Btw, I never knew you wear glasses. You look good in both.
I love the videos that feel like we all get to go with you. I'm a fifty one year old mom of kids Max's age and these videos have been such a blessing during the pandemic. I get to travel (thru Max) to all of these amazing places and try these amazing foods..I hope someday I'll be able to see them in person, but until then, how fun to watch Max enjoy them.
omg! As an authentic Saigonese living in Canada now, I really enjoy watching your videos of how you enjoy living and exploring in Saigon, and your videos help make me less miss my home. Loveeee!
My due respect, Cody. disagree with you. Max' video makes me more homesick. So much so this is the 2nd time of watching, if not the 3rd since I lost my count. It waters my mouth & occasionally my eyes for being homesick.
