Nice video matey, 13.2 on first run wasn't too bad, considering it was just a normal clutch launch. Surprised the launch control only made 0.1 sec difference, but then again, I drive a BMW and the launch control on that is useless lol, I get much better times holding it on the brake and launching in 2nd gear. I think even with the diff, a FWD car always struggles a bit off the line, no matter how much power it has. Enjoyed the video though thanks.
Yeah the launch against the subaru was terrible by comparison. I had a theory that the left lane my have had slightly more grip than the right. Someone had a oil spill in the middle of the day that they may have not managed to fully clean up. 🤔 would explain the 5. Something 0-60 on run 3
Thankyou Helene! Yes I will be going back, next time I'll be driving. I may add some mods to address the wheel hop issue but I am currently looking into it :)
So how much would you estimate your total vehicle weight for those runs? My kona has pretty close to the same HP and its almost a full second faster. Im usually running around 3400 pounds. Just trying to figure out why?
1611 Kg / 3552 lbs (Will be slightly heavier due to two sub woofers in the back and two people rather than one) As far as I can tell, because the Kona has a bigger chassis with more weight at the front, it doesn't struggle with wheel hop anywhere near as much as us hatchbacks do. When I go back to drive next I'm going to force it to change into 2nd earlier which will hopefully make the acceleration more smooth.
@@goughys.i30n ok that's starting to add up because im 3400 with me in the car. And my tuner also informed me that I'm probably more around 430bhp. The kona definitely hooks up better than the Elantra. I've got the toyo r888rs and there's no wheel spin as long as I use launch control
If you have the PFL you have the generation 1 turbo which is much smaller than the Gen 2 (one I have). Unfortunately you won't be able to make anywhere near the power of a gen 2 turbo without upgrading that turbo. I'm sure of the exact figures but I think a stage 1 remap will get you to around 300ish then stage 2 would be 340ish. For stage 1, you don't really need anything, just remap it. For stage 2 you need intercooler, gpf delete, flexi pipe, downpipe and hpfp if you're really going for it.
Depends on the garage you go to I believe. Some don't always check. A majority of i30N owners that have modded performance wise. do the GPF delete. Pretty common nowadays :)
@@goughys.i30n It definitely has gotten stricter. Some new laws as well, in part because of a bunch of people ruining it for others, some inner city racing, mostly younger dudes renting AMG's and M-Cars, but also hot hatches, just going overboard. And in some of the bigger cities a lot of posers who just drive obnoxiously loud, similar to the problems you got at knightsbridge with the rich people and their supercars. So police is a bit more on the lookout. And nobody wants their car impounded.
Just under 400 ;) It's more of the fact becauise it's FWD it struggles for traction and wheel hops at the top end of 1st gear. After that it really picks up.
Yeah! We were trying to line up and race eachother a few times but the grid kept changing, was almost impossible to predict until we asked the Marshalls, but Luke had gone home by that point
@@goughys.i30n he recently got a new downpipe and airbox along with another tune taking it to 499.5hp. should be interesting the 1/4 mile next time he runs. I would have thought the i30n with your dad driving it on his own would have done a bit better, but you mentioned the weight helped keep the power to the ground.
@@GizmoGTI yeah I know, he was telling me about it when I was with him that day (his plans to do it) :) Yeah I'm looking into other ways where I can improve my car putting the power down. Will hopefully make a video on it all soonish
That car is an absolute beast, as is the man behind the wheel !
Lol could not agree more ;)
Good one mate, glad to see your enjoyed yourselves!
Cheers mate! Yeah we defo did, I will be back at some point to do the runs myself next time aha
This was a good day! 😎

Thanks Simon! Good to see you that day, thanks again for some of the footage you shot :D
This is awesome and makes it so much better that your doing with your dad
Awesome video !!
Cheers mate! Would be good to race you next time, for research purposes of course 😉

Are you at Brands Hatch Tunerfest?
I am yes 😁
Great vid, enjoyed it a lot. Love it👍
Thanks! Cheers mate! 👌
You are WAY faster than that WRX holy SHIT you caught up!
Yeah such a shame we couldn't/my dad didnt know how to launch the car, defo would've won 😭😂
Awesome video.
Are you planning on going to Santa Pod again and if so will you do anymore Mods or keep the car the same?

nice one, looking at one of these myself to replace my gti clubsport. can i ask, was this a show day or just general RWYB day?
This just a generic RWYB day.
You will not be disappointed with one of these if you upgrade from a GTI 👌👍
I have the i30 N 2019 model, would it be possible to advise on what I need for the remap stage one or 2 ? would really appreciate it, thank you !

On the facelift gen how much bhp expected from a stage 1 remap?
@@__DjAlexx__ I think it's around 320 if you've got a GPF delete and flexi
different compression ratio as well

Bhp isn't the same as whp
I'm a bit miffed with so much power how you are no faster than stock down the quarter
The two in the car aren’t the lightest. Have the skinny bloke alone have a shot. 😂
So weird to see a facelift without the bucketseats
Why? Makes Sense if you want Memory seats
