- 2021 isn't the easiest year to travel to mainland Europe but Eurotunnel (le shuttle) make it so easy as their process is so organised and the guidelines are so clear, there's no reason not to travel!
We've travelled with Eurotunnel 5 times now, every time in a campervan and this is our third trip in our VW California, certainly won't be our last as we're already planning for next year!
TOP TIP... Use your Tesco club card vouchers to pay for your trip.
Every £5 voucher is worth £15 on the Eurotunnel so check your balance and get your crossing booked.
It takes 35 minutes, is pet friendly, you stay with your vehicle so no security anxiety and it's stress free.
Who else is booking a Eurotunnel trip? Where you heading to?
I was on the eurotunnel last week with family in our T6 camper. No issues whats so ever. Perfect and quick!
Amazing service isn’t it? 👌🏼
Looking forward to following you on your European trip. That shuttle looked really quiet, probably a good time to visit France. Have a great time 🙂👍🚐
We really struck lucky, gave us a head start on our trip.
Lots of more exciting footage to come 😁
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
this is one of the best videos I've seen on what to expect on boarding 👏 Hope you both have a good holiday 😎
Really?? Thank you 😁 glad it was useful!
This is from last year but we are heading back to Europe on the tunnel in September 🤩
@@Professionalmoochers that's a coincidence. A few of us were in the EU fow Nine days from the 31st August and it was our first time on the train which was mutch better than the ferry 🤣
Brilliant and looked easy. Great prep too. Enjoy.
It’s so good, we’ll always use Eurotunnel for our overseas trips 👍🏼
That was brilliant watching the whole process of boarding, can’t wait to be doing this kind of journey. It looked a bumpier ride than I would’ve expected. I know from the other socials you’re having a great time, look forward to the future vids 👍
Thanks sue!
The other videos will be way more interesting than this one 😂
@@Professionalmoochers Well as someone who hasn’t ‘channelled’ yet, I found it really good! Take care.
Great video guys thank you, just what we needed, we have a brand new campervan due in July, and due for a 3 month southen spain trip in mid Nov this year, you made it look so easy.
Brilliant, it’s the best (very expensive) thing you’ll ever buy!! 🤩
Eurotunnel is so simple, main benefits are speed and the fact you can stay with your vehicle.
Have a great trip and thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Brilliant video guys. I'm breaking me cherry this weekend, taking the van and going house hunting in the Limousin region. Wanted to get a flavour of the channel tunnel experience, and you provided it. Cheers...!!
Thanks Phil 🙏🏼
Oh wow! What an exciting trip!!
Honestly, it’s so simple, the entire process is quick and easy to follow. You’ve nothing to worry about, especially as you can often get an earlier train for no charge if you’re slightly early.
Have a great trip 👌🏼
Brilliant 👏 👏 loving the van especially the roof lining cover to hide the pop top roof 😊
Thanks 😁
That cover is standard on California’s, really does tidy it up nicely 👌🏼
wow!! So cool!! Thanks for this video ☺☺
Really helpful video, thanks. I’m planning on doing a van trip or several next year. 👏🏻🙏🏻
Brilliant, best trip you’ll ever have!
We’re already planning next year’s road trip 🤩
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
New subscriber here. Loved this video. Thank you for all the detail. Blessings and safe travels to you both.🥰
Thank you 🙏🏼
Glad you enjoyed it 🤩
Great vid guys will be good seeing your trip 👍🏻
Thank you 🙏🏼
Plenty more interesting videos coming soon 🤩
Thank you so much for sharing , it’s very helpful!
I’m glad you found it useful 😁
Thank you for posting this, going for the first time soon and quite nervous about it, but it looks fine
Honestly, you’ve got absolutely nothing to worry about.
We’ve probably used it 6 times now and still get a little anxious on the approach but it’s really simple.
Enjoy it 👍🏼
That was nice & easy .. awesome.. cheers Chris & Sammy
Brilliant isn’t it?? We love the simplicity 👌🏼
Thanks guys for the video helped us a lot
Thank you!
Glad it was useful 😁
Lovely just like our trip in August.
You just can’t beat that feeling, entering the tunnel not knowing what’s ahead 😍
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Very cool to see the channel crossing process!
It’s genuinely fascinating, great invention for us travellers 😁
Well done amazing vídeo the best I find in RUclips well done
Thank you 🙏🏼
Liked the video thanks
Thank you, glad it was useful 👍🏼
Have a good one Moochers. We've only been back four weeks and I'm desperate to get back over there now. Make sure you squeeze in Chartres! Enjoy.
Thank you!
I don’t think we’ll make that beautifully illuminated town as we’re planning to drive from Switzerland to Luxembourg and then to Belgium before heading back to Calais but, it is on our list for the future 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers Yes, make sure it's on your to do list. I'll keep my eye out for your updates on this trip. Have a good one and crack a few beers for us and find us a good pizza place to visit when we do Switzerland!
😆😆 we’re very good at sniffing out pizza!
We’ve just arrived at our first Switzerland location, it’s pitch black but already has potential to be an amazing location!
@@Professionalmoochers We were planning a great Euro trip, that included Switzerland, Italy and Slovenia and catching a bit of the Tour de France, before the first lockdown so, we're looking forward to seeing what you get up to.
Thank you. I was wondering what those were until you explained they were headlight thingamajigees.
Question: 3:18 Am I losing my mind, or should I be confused about this. You're in the UK, but the ticket booth's on the left side, and the French passport check (7:35) is on the right?
😂😂
The ticket booths and passport control, on the uk side and French side, have options for both left or right.
We just chose random lanes as there’s always a passenger in our vehicle 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers Ah, I see. Thank you.
Hey.. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. One question - Would you know if we can carry our pet in the car? Many thanks in advance
Thank you 🙏🏼
Yes you can! That’s a major benefit of the eurotunnel if you’re a pet owner, you stay in your vehicle with your pet 😁
Evening you two. Daft question, we could see that you sat in the back during the trip in the tunnel. When my wife and I pack for a weekend break, the back is rammed. How on earth do you pack so efficiently. Now that would be a video Id like to see. Keep well guys. God Bless.
😂😂 you do not want to see the carnage behind the rear bench!!
We don’t really pack efficiently, I guess we just pack less.
When we’re heading on a longer trip, larger luxury items often stay at home as we hate organising after a long journey 👍🏼
Lol imagine if dogs could actually look after themselves
Welcome to the continent friends!!!
Thanks you three!
How’s the desert treating you?
@@Professionalmoochers HOT HOT HOT!!!
A little different to the alps then 😆
Hi guys, do you still need driving permits for France and spain
We’ve not driven in Spain but I’m confident they’re not required in either. Certainly not France but always worth checking the GOV website 👍🏼
Do you go on the double or single deck cart?
Hi Keith. We go on the single cart as we are to tall. The double decker is mainly for cars.
Good video, what would be the average cost for your size van. Is it best to get a return or one way at each end. ? Sorry for asking but I would love to do that trip.
Hi Clint
I guess the prices change all year but I think our return crossing was around £150. We used our Tesco Clubcard points to pay for most of it as your points treble in value when using them on eurotunnel 👌🏼
We always book the return as we know when we’ll be heading home but they run around 3 trains per hour so the choice of crossings is vast.
Treat yourself, make it happen 🤩
@@Professionalmoochers cheers 👍
@@clintfletcher3629 any time 😁
Can I ask which head unit you’ve upgraded to? Sounds like your parking sensors still work?
Hi it’s the Kenwood DNX518VDABS. Yes sensors work perfectly through this unit 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers Great, thanks. Did you fit it yourself? I probably would get someone else to do it so if you've any recommendations I'd be grateful. Just can't trust myself with auto electrics! ;0)
God no! Definitely leave it to the professionals as we’re useless!!
We used a company called boundary car care in St. Helens
@@Professionalmoochers Ace, that’s only half an hour away!👍 Cheers fella.
Hi ,
Me and my kids will travel in June this year to France. Got a trailer aswell ( my motorcycle). I have seen what paperwork you showed at the beginning of the video but can you please be more specific , is anything else is needed.
Sorry if I am wasting your time.
Thank you
Kind regards
AL
Hi Al
The only paperwork we needed to show was for covid purposes which I’d imagine is a lot more relaxed now.
It’s a very simple, efficient process and they recognise your booking from your reg number.
Enjoy your trip 🤩
I am going on that in maybe 2 weeks I think
It’ll be a nice easy start to your break 👍🏼
Quick question. At the part where it says French passport control / covid checks, what was the covid checks?
And do they still do this? Going for the first time with the family in august.
No, Covid checks aren’t required anymore. It was simply showing proof of vaccinations but now it’s just plain sailing.
It’s extremely simple, makes the beginning of your trip enjoyable 😁
Nice one, thanks for that
@@Topboy-ct2oy have a great trip 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers👍
The tunnel is now in 2024 much more expensive but I still prefer it to the ferry as I can seasick in a puddle
😄😄 Sarah gets seasick in the bath!
Euro tunnel is such an easy experience, we’ll always choose it while it stays affordable 👍🏼
Hi can I ask did they check the driving license?
Hi no they didn’t, just passports 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers Thanks
This is required to be in the vehicle?
If you mean, do you stay in the vehicle, yes you do
Is driver license checked while crossing the boarder or just a passport?
No just your passport but, I believe French police will ask for your license if pulled over so worth taking it with you 👍🏼
@@ProfessionalmoochersYou have to have your driving licence with you and the V5, insurance certificate and MOT certificate. You probably won’t ever be asked to show them but they do need to be with you.
You do not need breathalysers. To get them would be pointless as police will breathalyse you if they suspect you have been drinking regardless of you using one of these or not.
People commonly get mistaken because it was a proposed and postponed law that ended up being postponed indefinitely in 2020, however, some unfortunate people did have the proposed law enforced upon them.
What are headlight thingy majigies? Thanks x
😆😆 they’re just stickers, required by law to prevent dazzling oncoming traffic as our headlights are designed for driving on the left 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers thanks for replying... well you learn something new everyday. 🤯
They’re only cheap too

Hi How easy do you find driving on right? It worries me
Hi Ken, it immediately becomes natural. You follow the traffic off the train on the correct side.
I find smaller roads really easy to remember too, you just have to think at roundabouts.
European roads in general are more enjoyable than uk roads so don’t let it put you off 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers thanks for replying, old man still worried 😂😂
😁 no harm in worrying, just makes sure you’ll be concentrating but you’ll quickly wonder what you’re worried about.
I recently drove a left hand drive for the first time, on the wrong side of the road in Iceland in the snow and ice!
First 30 minutes were challenging but soon got used to it 👍🏼
How much did it cost ?
Cost varies depending on when your booking is but it averages around £200 return
@@Professionalmoochers thanks for the reply
Is the Covid check by the French border people just a look at everyone's NHS app on their smartphone? Haven't left the country since Covid so wondering how that works.
Yes it is, we had the app and certificates printed just in case.
It’s really simple 👍🏼
Do they check how many jabs you've had? 1,2 or boosters etc ?
We’re both double jabbed which is what they look for but I don’t think boosters are applicable anymore
@@byronhall5145 I went on the 02/06/22 and Eurotunnel now have the facility to upload your Covid passes onto their website beforehand which I did (we're all fully vaccinated 2 + boosters). Either as a result (or because they don't care as much about it anymore) but they didn't even check any of ours when we arrived at French Passport control at Folkestone - just our passports.
@@byronhall5145 You need 15 jabs to be safe,Don't forget to wear your mask the French can be difficult.Aso no swearing in English the fine is heavy.
Euro tunnel is the most efficient transport system in Uk
It is very good 👍🏼
Like the French would car if you have a GB sticker or a UK sticker I doubt it.Why is the GB sticker illegal are we making that up?
We don’t make the rules
Only a fool would ignore the rules. By law you have to display a U.K. sticker if you break that law you risk a fine at the least.
What a horrible procedure, omg
You think?
@@Professionalmoochers unexperienced driver will be easily lost there. At least it gave me such feeling. The video is great, btw, subscribed 🙌
@@Ss-zg3yj thanks 😁
The process is really simple, you can’t go the wrong way. You just need to choose the higher vehicle route if you’re in a van 👍🏼
It is as straightforward as a straightforward thing.
