Lots of people have done this song, but Bonnie Raitt did the definitive version.
The origional first one ,on one take
and she barely kept it together, you can hear/feel it
Of course ,she wrote it
@@georgesheffield1580 I think someone else wrote it but I agree her version is the definitive one.
You reacted to Teddy Swims and we all yelled . . . You need to listen to Bonnie Raitt's version! 😂 George Michael also does a really lovely version of this.
I'm sorry but George Michaels version is magical and I never get tired of it 💖I can't help it,, ruclips.net/video/QbWJO8RMg1A/видео.html
Teddy's version made me a fan of his...but, Bonnie's is the gold standard- one of the best female vocal performances ever committed to record.
George's version is truly unreal too..Bonnie is the standard, in my eyes but those 2 versions are incredible in their own way
Bonnie Raitt with Bruce Hornsby on piano is tough to beat
Bonnie recorded it in 1990. Many others have covered it, none of them could hold a candle to Bonnie.
Bonnie is a fine slide blues guitarist, but her voice can bring tears to this old man.
Her music has made me laugh, dance, cry, and it still makes me move, and cry 50 years later.
It’s her song and many black artist have covered it. Bonnie was real young when she first did this song. Check it out.
A thousand people have covered this song. But, the she is the Queen of Blues and is by far the best at performing it.
She wrote it and recorded it on the first take .
Her voice is like a fleece blanket on a cold winter night.
Bonnie singing this song tears at my heart and soul every time I hear it. We've all been there.....and it hits hard.
She has been doing this quality of music for 50 years .
Bonnie's father was a star singer on Broadway. She's exceeded him.
Bonnie is a treasure. She's been singing and writing and playing so well for decades. Go back and listen to some of her earlier songs. They are so good. She is deeply admired among musicians, and I still think she is underrated.
Bonnie didn’t write this song but she was the first to record it. She is a wonderful songwriter having penned her recent Grammy winning song, “Just Like That”.
This was written by a Cincinnati Bengal offensive lineman Mike Reid.
She recorded this tune first off her "Nick of Time" album, that won the Grammy for album of the year in '91 I believe....a lot of people have covered it since.
@@289hipo actually, Kenny Rogers did a version of this song way back in 1977, but Bonnie Raitt's version is the gold standard.
@@randyrodriguez1445 And Allen Shamblin.
This song actually makes me cry.
This is one of those transcendent songs that you will hear all over the place during your life...movies, movie theaters, stores, someone house you walk by, someone's car driving by...
Listen to her recording of “Angel From Montgomery”. It’s a John Prine song, and it’s so gorgeous!
Love Bonnie Raitt! She's in her 70's and can not only sing as well as ever, but she's still sexy as hell! Check out her cover of an INXS song called Need You Tonight (!!!) and her cover of Can't Find My Way Home (with Lowell George and John Hammond) (from the 70's... I think for a radio show... it's kind of a jam session). Also her song Something To Talk About. You will love every one of these songs; I promise! As someone below said; Bonnie is a treasure!
She sang this song when Bruce Hornsby accompanied her on the piano..brilliant!
This is one of my favorite songs ever and, to me, Bonnie is the one that does it justice. It gives me chills every time I hear it. The message of taking responsibility for your feelings and your actions hits. Who hasn’t gone through this in their life.
Bonnie is just class. Listen her Love Has No Pride & my favorite, Angel From Montgomery. I feel like I’m doing her a disservice as she is one of the best slide guitarist ever. Woman knows her blues, and has played with the best, Stevie Ray, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy. It’s just the way she covers Angel from Montgomery, and lends her voice to the storytelling of the song, that keeps it so near & dear for me.
Bonnie Raitt is a legend.
Bonnie Raitt is amazing without being pretentious. Her performances are honest.
BONNIE RAITT - Love Me Like A Man (1976 live) hear Bonnie sing and play the blues. She can PLAY the guitar
Boyz 2 Men covered this a while back.
I remember shortly after Stevie Ray Vaughn was killed, Bonnie was on Saturday Night live. Her manager was on that same flight. She explained that this was his favorite song.
She then when on to sing it A Capella. Tears running down her face. Beautiful and heartbreaking.
A heartbreaker tearjerker of a song, especially the way Bonnie Raitt sings it with Bruce Hornsby on piano!!
That version is superb .
This song has made me cry on many occasions. Bonnie is a treasure! 💜
Me, too.
Bonnie does it BEST.😢 you can feel it.
She sounds just as great live as she does on record.
She recorded the original version of this song that's been covered by everyone. She won a Grammy for song of the year. I can't remember if it was the late 80's or early 90's, but this is HER song!
This song wasn't written by Bonnie Raitt but she is the original singer
Britt, Bonnie is a gold mine of music. Please deep dive her
Catalog. She is amazing. You said it, she feels like home, comfort , you won’t
Be sorry on any Bonnie song.❤
One favorite pieces
She's John Raitt's daughter (1950s Broadway musical star with folks like Doris Day). But far exceeded her dad's great fame. Written by Nashville writers Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin. Mike Reid was a star in the NFL, and gave it all up to go to Nashville and write songs. That's courage! Sampled by Bon Iver's I Can't Make You Love Me / Nick of Time.
Bonnie Raitt’s “Give It Up” this is also a good listen
Her voice is like if your mother could sing.
And the musicianship was amazing. No pre-recorded tech stuff here. Everything was done by musicians who can actually play together and improvise if needed
Bonnie got her start in the late 60s and worked with band like LITTLE FEAT and artists like Emmylou Harris and Graham Parsons. She is also an excellent guitarist and is an expert slide guitarist. She was active in the business until recently.
Bonnie used to hang out at Palmers Bar with us in Minneapolis back when she was working on her first album.
If it sounds familiar, more than likely, you’ve heard the studio version which naturally will sound different than a live performance.
Question: "Who else has sung this song?"...Answer: "Everybody!" But, Bonnie is the original, and the best.
Bonnie Raitt is a Blues singer. I saw her back in the 70's snd have loved her ever since. Listen to Give it up or let me go 💓
You reacted to Tedddy Swims cover. Many have covered this song over the years but Bonnie is the OG and had a huge hit with this song. She's a very talented guitar player besides her singing talents.
You're so spot on to notice the special qualities in this song and in Bonnie Raitt's voice!
Congrats on your pregnancy.
You did a reaction video to the same song with Teddy Swims
3 months ago. That"s why it's so familiar. Bonnie sings it the best.
I’ve been listening to Bonnie Raitt for years! You should check out some of her duets with B. B. King, Keb Mo, John Lee Hooker, and many others. My favorite song of hers is “Mighty Tight Woman”. Some other good ones are
Angel From Montgomery
Love Me Like A Man
Storm Warning
The Dimming of the Day
Have A Heart
Runaway
Thing Called Love
Nick of Time
Just a couple to get you started 😎👵🏼💜☮️
I have been lucky enough to see her in concert several times 🤩
Bonnie is also an incredible slide guitarist
Bonnie is amazing and such an artist
Bonnie is an American music legend and treasure 😊
This is a great performance
Bonnie Raitt is the voice of the woman you didn't fall in love with....but should have...cause she was 'the one'!
The tag line from this song "I can't make you love me." was inspired by a murder trial. It was spoken by the defendant
I remember watching some 20-year-old American Idol singer do this song, smiling to the audience the entire time. Clearly missed the point, never had her heart broken.
This is a classic "Torch Song" Yes, this is her song. It has been well covered by others but she is the best.
The song was written by Mike Reid. He also wrote "Stranger In My House" for Ronnie Milsap (you reacted to that one a few months ago). Reid is a former NFL player who has a Super Bowl ring and Grammys. Heck of a combination. Check out his "Turning For Home" and "Walk On Faith". Amazing man. Met him at an ASCAP thing several years ago.
Hard to imagine a more heartfelt performance
She's singing the notes that reflect the words, like an opera singer is taught. Pop singers often do this later in their career, viz John Denver.
Bonnie Raitt is a treasure. She did this song first and best. It's been covered by George Michael, Adele, Teddy Swims, Justin Vernon. It was written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin.
Bonnie Raitt is the daughter of Broadway star John Raitt, so great singing is in the family.
He was mostly on Broadway but starred in the movie "The Pajama Game"--surprisingly, a pro-union rom-com--with Doris Day. They both had wonderful, strong voices.
The Pajama Game co-starred Reta Shaw (whom you may recognize from old movies/tv) and had choreography by Bob Fosse (he had a distinctive and visibly-identifiable style).
"You can't make your heart feel something it wont" the most heartbreaking statement you can make when the realization hits you that its just not going to happen.
Kind Suggestions:
"The Fighter by Keith (PDC Member )Urban. The one at the CMA Awards. Fun, catchy, guaranteed to make you smile all day.
" Ooh Baby Baby" by Smokey Robinson . The best slow dance song EVER.
" Humble and Kind ' by Tim McGraw. A feel good song with a message.
“Just Like That”, Bonnie’s most recent won a Grammy! Why aren’t more reactors highlighting this one?
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
This is my favorite Bonnie Raitt song. She didn't write the song, but I believe she's for first one to record it, so in my mind, this song belongs to her. There were tons of other artists who covered this song. Great choice and reaction! Thank you! ✌💙✌
Pretty sure you did Teddy Swims' version. Bonnie is awesome!
Amazingly, Bonnie has recorded an even better live version (IMHO) of this song on her Road Tested album (CD/DVD). Adele has recorded a decent version, and Bonnie graciously thanked her for sending her a bunch of new fans.
True artistry.
Love, love, love Bonnie. Try "Dimming of the Day," the live version with Richard Thompson, you won't regret it.
Mike Reid, former All Pro lineman for the Cincinnati Bengals, penned this song and gave it to Bonnie Raitt first.
Anything Bonnie Raitt live from Austin City Limits! You’ve got to see her rip her blues guitar!
So, Teddy Swims did an amazing cover to this song. So, it maybe familiar in that way. Bonnie Raitt is awesome. She's one of those artists that you can't really put in one genre because she really crosses all genres. I grew up listening to her because my parents listened to her music all the time. Such a great reaction to one of the most soulful singers.
Seen her three times in concert. Moved me every time. Try "Love Me Like A Man' or "Love Has No Pride".
Queen of the blues, have been a fan since the 70’s
Bonnie is a treasure that i've been fortunate to see a couple of times live ! 50 yrs i've been listening to this woman's music, love her !😏❤️🎙🎸😎🤘
One of my ALL TIME fave songs….ever….ever!
Teddy Swims does a great cover of this, if you've heard him. It is her song🎶💜
George Michael also covered this in an MTV Unplugged concert
Bonnie has been performing for close to 50 years and is an incredible singer/performer. Check out other great songs of hers: "Angel from Montgomery", "Nick of Time" and "Not the Only One." George Michael of Wham recorded this song and Teddy Swims also recorded this song
Prince has a rendition, Teddy Swims has a rendition Bonnie's version was first and touches me a little deeper
The first time I heard this song, it brought me to tears. I was going thoughts of breaking up with my ex. Realizing someone doesn't love you is so hard! It was like God was sending me words from Heaven that I needed to hear!
You have a beautiful voice
Britt totally got this. Such a great reaction.
“Let’s give ‘em something to talk about”
George Michael covered this and he did a great job of making you feel this song. Classic Bonnie 🥰
I adore Bonnie and her incomparable rendition. Please react to George Michael’s cover from his MTV Unplugged recordings. Gorgeous instrumentals and vocals. You can feel the heartbreak.
Written primarily by former All-Pro defensive lineman Mike Reid of the Cincinnati Bengals, also a classically trained concert pianist. I've been waiting for this since you first responded to Bonnie months ago. Reid is Songwriter Hall of Famer, as well. Stranger in My House sung by Ronnie Milsap. Also Walk on Faith was a #1 single by Reid.
If you’ve done a Teddy Swims reaction, you might have done this song. Bonnie originally recorded this song.
Bonnie Raitt was the first to record it and had a very successful hit with it ...This was also Carrie Underwood's audition song on Idol
Prince recorded a fantastic version of this song. He's is my 2nd favorite.
Voiceplay covered it, and so did a couple of men including Teddy Swims did it.
I love this song but my 1st time hearing it Bonnie wasn’t sing it. I was watching soaps at the time and the wonderful actress Martha Byrne was singing it and she has a gorgeous voice. Was so happy 2 learn it was a BR song cause it was just another great song of hers to listen 2
"Angel from Montgomery" early version 1972. One of her VERY Best !! FYI
this song. Spent so many nights in my 20'ss, in the 90'ss listening and believing I would never find or have love. How wrong I was.. it's so sad our love is robbed from us when we're all babies and cannot defend ourselves. xo No, we are not born with sin. We are born puree light; joy is our natural state. That is who we are. But we've been lied to.. generation after generation, millennium after millennium. xo
Beautiful great song. I need not say anything more.
Peace ❤
My absolute favorite Bonnie Raitt song. Another great one with a totally different vibe is Something to Talk About. And her video for that one is quite fun.
Great reaction! Especially at the end, making up words. Love it! Have a listen to the studio recording version too when you have time. The piano arrangement and playing by Bruce Hornsby, is phenomenal and goes so well with Bonnie's emotional vocals. Prince does a great cover of this song too.
The recorded version was done in one take only.. Bonnie is one of my favorite guitarist.. beautiful song
Fairly recently Teddy Swims did a good cover which got a lot of airplay, so that may be where you heard it. But this is, and always will be, Bonnie's song. I'm fortunate enough to have seen her perform this in concert several time. She's pretty amazing with multiple Grammy's, including one in 2023 for her song Just Like That, which will hit your heart hard with it's message.
Britt the song has been covered by a few people including Adele and also Tank. She did not write it, but I believe recorded it first.
If you want to get the full effect of her voice, react to her cover of Can’t find my way home from Blind Faith. Live with Lowell George from October of 1972!! Amazing!!
Bonnie has the voice of an angel
Check out Mike Reid's song "Walk on Faith". He was a music major at Penn State and an All American defensive lineman. Played seven years for the Bengals retired and focused on song writing. He is in the Nashville songwriters hall of fame.
Bonnie was the 1st to do this song. I believe she wrote it or was there in the process. Many have attempted to remake the song, but this is a Bonnie song.
I've watched quite a few of your reactions (not my typical go-to type of videos if I'm being honest, but you're very entertaining) but I've noticed a few times, your voice is absolutely as beautiful as the people you're reaction videos are on!
