- Should you play GRIM DAWN in 2023? The only reason why you shouldn't is slightly dated graphics that feel too blurry sometimes. Other than that - you definitely should regardless of your genre preferences. My vid tells why.

What game we playing next?
The expansion really add a lot and are totally worth their money (AoM and FG); Crucible adds sort of an arena area. Next year there will be even another campaign expansion: Fangs of Asterkarn.
and that's why I wait for the fullest edition with all the content to come and get in one bundle :)

tbh this game doesnt get the attention it deserve, its a great game. Cant wait for the next expack too 😁
Yeah! Hopefully, with new expansion and more frustration from Diablo 4 (and the like) such games like Grim Dawn and Last Epoch start gaining more recognition.

February 2016 is not more than a decade ago. 12:20 They are not working on Grim Dawn 2. They are working on an upgraded version of the engine. 12:35 There is no Nightmare difficulty, It is called Ultimate.

The maps are HUGE. I've never seen maps this big in another game.

I'm glad you appreciate the c'thonic wastes. A realm implied to be what's left of the cosmic slaughtering of C'thon, the only physical thing in the universe that ever existed prior to its betrayal & murder by the gods. With these dark, moody expanses on the outermost layers of the infinite corpse, only to use portals to delve deeper into the entropic fires further within. Hell never looked so good, imo.

Anyone using a controller or using a steamdeck I recommend remaping the potion buttons to left and right on the dpad and the left and right dpad to the bumpers
Might have to check this on out on my new PC! It's $7.99 on Steam (not including all the DLC).

Its not bad, but its time consuming. Too much walking around and wasting time treking back from the main town if you died somewhere in a dungeon with no portal around you.
Get better. Sounds like you spend a lot of time dying if it wastes your time so much considering there are portals everywhere.
@grassrash6162 there aren't that many portals. And whether you like it or not you do have to run back whatever portal was the last one. And there are no mounts to make traversing quicker. So yes as someone who has an active lifestyle, this does waste my time. Its not a bad game just a bad design traversing wise.
@@TheMasterwitcher You can create your own portal to teleport anywhere almost like titan quest but with MORE teleport options, making it one of the easiest and fastest to traverse games that are around... You clearly just die too much if that's what you're gonna choose to complain about bud. It's one of the Isometric ARPGs that choose to not waste your time lol.
@grassrash6162 there are times when u can't create or don't get time to create a portal and then you are pretty much screwed. But I don't expect a random person on the Internet to see reason, so I'm kinda done with you :) gotta go and live a real life

I keep trying to get into grim dawn but I never make it past levelling. I don't know what it is- I've played about 20 hours across 2 characters, my highest level being 40 and it just hasn't clicked for me yet. Every time I come back to it I feel the need to start over. I've just never made it to a point where I enjoy my build enough to spam the same skill for 100 hours. What is it that gets people to play it for thousands of hours?
The same for me, I'm that kind of person who completes the campaign and needs a rest for a while :) and that's okay as we all play differently, some play for 1000+ hours and some just need to complete the campaign and that's okay ^)
The itemization and theory crafting builds. The game is a lot more fun when you realize you can blaze through it really fast and not really miss much.
Who said you have to spam the same skills? That’s not a requirement in Grim Dawn or any other ARPG lol
@@corpsefoot758 That's just all it ever boils down to really. I was playing a conjurer, debuffing crowds with curse of frailty, vines and blood pox, and stealing health with wendigo totem. But once that's out of the way it was me just spamming primal strike and refreshing debuffs. It's not as if I don't like ARPGs, it just feels like the game is an obstacle before you get to the good part hiding at the end.
Any time I found a fun new item I'd be considering a respec just to try it. It might be more fun once you've seen all the items and know what's possible or where to get the gear you need for a cohesive build and that's why I keep trying to force myself through it :')
I'm not trying to diss the game or anything, I just want it to click with me so I can enjoy it

I mean in that case, can you think of any ARPG which doesn’t include builds with a primary DPS button🤷♂️
Or maybe a better way is to think of any ARPG you have fun in, then try repeating that playstyle with other games in the same genre. That’s what I usually try to do

Bro... there Grim Dawn mod "Reighn of Terror". It is Full handmade 3d reworked Diablo 2, two weeks to complete run, lore accurate Uberbosses, real scaled locations (act 5 as example, to kill Shenk you REALLY destroy demon army in 30-min bllodbath), every basic cave have unique look... that is masterpiece. Blizzards Diablo 2 "remaster" with upscaled textures just pale in comparison. Also, Grim Dawn without addons feels like 1/3 of game in world size (bioms of first parts of the game just boring gray graveyards, too bad in comparison with Titan Quest, later addons will fix that... sometimes...), and 1/10 of character builds.

i tried it. got rid of it when it was abundantly clear that the bosses are damage sponges. nothing more.

Van helsing standardized the modern ARPG for me, it makes other games look old and obsolete.

the only real downsides is that the map is *huge* as in, you will spend an hour clearing and fully exploring each zone. and you cant just not do that. also, monsters respawn, and your location isnt saved. the maps have to be either huge *and* allow the game to save your locations and mob data, or the maps have to be one third the size.

@@Grandmastergav86 nope. its just meaningless forced exploration, and meaningless busywork. it also completely destroys the entire point of the storyline.
I love what you hate. If mobs didn't respawn it would get real boring real fast.
@@religionlol7323 no it wouldnt. you wouldnt go back there at all. for any reason. even if mobs respawn, what reason would you have to go back to the past areas? none.
therefore, if you fully 100% clear the area, it should stay fully cleared. otherwise, whats the point? it would destroy storylines if enemies just come back, after all.
