Grim Dawn is the best ARPG ever created. Yes, it’s even better than D2 and D3. Reminder: Path of Exile is in their own league and can online compared by another Path of Exile title. (Nice try homies)
1:00 It should be 36 classes. Nine choices for your first class. Eight choices for your second class since you can't choose the same one twice. That gives you 9 * 8 = 72. Then you need to consider order doesn't matter so Oathkeeper/Necromancer is the same as Necromancer/Oathkeeper (if this assumption is incorrect than 72 is the correct answer) and so on which cuts the 72 in half giving you 72 / 2 = 36 class combinations.
36 hybrid classes, involving 2 masteries, from n*n(n-1)/2, but what about the 9 classes you get from using single masteries only, like pure necromancer or pure shaman? That's 36 (2 masteries) + 9 (single mastery) = 45 :)
Magical cowboy huh? Reminds me of a rhyme I heard: Rootin' tootin' toilin' shootin', Fire burn and cowboy bootin, Eye of newt and spicy beans, Toe of frog and denim jeans, Whiskey, grits, and demon spittle, Tossed into my iron griddle, With the tannin' of our hides, Something wicked this way rides.
Love the game; only gripe is that playing any of the 9 starter classes as a pure build is impossible. The game is designed around the dual class concept, so if you just want to play pure soldier, (like I'd like to), you can't do it and actually be viable. To have the power needed you must dual class.
It's possible, you could use the 2nd class as a Stat boost dump and only use the skills from your class of choice. But from what I understand it'd be hard to do ultimate. This game is amazing, but man is it overwhelming for beginners in the first 30 hours of play or so. If you come in blind I'd almost guarantee the first character you make you'll eventually throw away after understanding the mechanics and make a new character.
pure builds are definitely possible, you just need one melee weapon, and one ranged weapon(bow anyone?), hit W to switch weapons, I've been doing a pure soldier and I am lv 50 no problem!
Your bonus build, I went for the same two classes myself. Walk into a room, literally, blast rounds into foes whilest burning them then they explode and it spreads. Good times.
The Oathkeeper is a paladin of sorts (one of the combinations is actually called "Paladin", and it's Oathkeeper+Inquisitor) and from the talent tree you can decide if you wish to give him/her a "Light" approach (fire damage) or a "Dark" approach (acid damage). Also, there's the thing that the setting is nearly Lovecraftian...
Good stuff. I'm here because I just picked up all the DLC on the big Steam sale. I did get the game not long after release and played it until Level 20 or so but I stopped for some reason. Now I'm getting into this and Titan quest. I'd really like to see this game continue into a series, since Diablo is pretty much a lost cause.
I have been a loyal player of Diablo, Diablo 2, Diablo 3 and D2 Resurrected. A friend of mine referred me to Grim Dawn and has not stopped went back to those Diablo games. Grim Dawn is amazing!
Hi Owen. There is no class like the WOW monk. So it's not an easy question. Maybe a mix of Nightblade and Shaman could give you a feel of it if you choose the right skills. But it's a combination (out of the 45) that I have not played yet. You could try it and see how it feels. I will think about it, in case I find a better match. I would love it if you kept me informed of your experience. Good luck and have fun!
@@sherlougames6302 Thank you so much! I was thinking something along the same lines so I'll make sure to try that out and come back once I play around with it! Thanks again!
@@OwenGandhi Maybe Nightblade/Arcanist? I think I'll give that a try since I haven't yet and I'd not even thought about the WoW monk until you mentioned it.

How did you get 45 classes? You can pick from 9 classes to begin with and pair it with another, picking from the remaining 8 classes. 9*8 = 72 class combinations That's not including just going single class. So a total of 81 different classes?
right it's only 36, 45 would be correct if you could select the same class twice, but since you can't for obvious reasons its 36, he just didn't consider that in his calculation. however 81 isn't correct either, because as johnston pointed out you have to consider only the unique combinations.
@Johnston Wang My poor logic and math haunted me after I realized what I wrote. Couldn't find my comment to delete it again lol. Thanks for making me look at this horrifying comment again.
Hi LIGHT100. With the type of video I'm doing right not, plus my course, the homework and some contract for my company... the best I can do is 2 a week... maybe 3. It's not like doing Brawl Stars live stream. A lot of filming and editing goes into those videos. I hope to continue to grow with quality over quantity.
They have currently 11 classes and the same game mechanic of mixing 2 classes which results in 66 different combinations. The GD developers came from Titan Quest thus there are some similarities. But it is older and thus GD tends to be better.
u could have put videos of gameplay to background while u talk about a class. but it would require u to put minimum amount of effort right? Anyone can sit down and talk for 10 minutes .

Perhaps I'm out of date but my first play threw was pure demolitionist and I hardly had any problems though it may be harder it I did melee
