in qiyis defense, the app was new and there werent many people using the app, causing for less fast people
yeah… i think your expectations were a bit too high
you said that one reason you didn’t like the qiyi was because the app wouldn’t tell you anything for you to get faster, but no smart cube app even does that yet
also it sounds like you need to loosen the cube
and also gan pairs you with ais sometimes and it doesn’t always pair you with people your speed, just people who win the same amount of games as you do
Maybe, I think no smart cube is perfect but I found that there was more wrong with this one compared with any others I have tried.

I'd say with the poor performance of the cube mostly being blamed on the corner cutting a pretty bad point cause you can just loosen it or turn more accurately. Also with the app bad I guess that is preference on what you want like if you want a good battle feature or games so that isn't entirely bad however saying that it has no ways to help you improve isn't really true cause I would say that knowing your move count and times is enough to help you. Also I think you may have expected a bit too much from the cube for only 20 dollars.

I think QiYi probably felt pressured into finally releasing this after a long time of planning it and it still isn't quite good enough, however, I feel one advantage this has over the gan smart cubes is that the bluetooth connection seems far more stable from my experience for both the smart cube and the timer, but that might depend on other factors.
Yeah, that makes sense. If they could keep the good connection and make the app better, this cube would be much higher on the list when it comes to smart cubes.

You didn't set it up right, you need to loosen it from out of the box settings, lube it, and break it in. I had a similar problem with corner cutting on my wrm v10, but after a few hundred solves it got better.
Most of the issues you explained happens on the gan smart cubes some being almost 6x the price of the qiyi smart cube for around $20 usd your expecting too much when a gan smart cube 6x the price has the same issues
I just ordered one from China so will check it out when it arrives and let you know what I think.
I do have a few smart cubes, Rubik's Connected, Moyu AI, and the all Gan smart cubes including the 12 ui. I've had issues with the Moyu and it's app after a while, it began not to recognise moves... I threw 2 iCarry's in the bin due to their connection/battery issues, breaking pieces when the were first released. The Gan app was a mess as well and took a long time to get decent, it still has room for improvement. The Rubik's has everything that just worked although the cube was a bit heavy, clunky and the stickers wore down after use.
Hopefully QiYi will improve their app over time and they and other manufacturers will work on making better smarter smart cubes in the future. I would love to see Moyu update theirs and an X-Man Tornado V3/4 smart cube would be great! 🙂👍
Yeah, I think all of your points are valid. I haven't had the same issues on the GAN smart cubes however that doesn't mean I won't in the future. If the companies spent more time on developing the product before they released them, the apps might actually be somewhat decent!
@@UK_Cuber I just received my Qiyi smart cube and uploaded an unboxing on here. It was easy to set up the app using email with code no issues there, just one bit of Chinese upon initial set up. I have only used the practise section of the app so far and I like the look of it and lay out, it has plenty of stats and data to my eye. The cube itself was loose and fast at first. I kept overshooting while turning. I adjusted the tensions to 7 and added lube. It still overshoots a bit.
For me there was no bad corner cutting issues or catches which the first versions of the Gan iCarry's had, so I place it above them in performance although the Monster Go Ai is not far behind and pretty good for the price. It's not as good as the Gan 12ui which is the best of all the smart cubes so far but the Qiyi is a lot cheaper so for what it is I think it is great value for the money. I paid £13.20 and that's a bargain so happy over all with it and the app 🙂. I just hope they keep improving it, adding stronger magnets would really help with the overshooting. Also I there is a newer version of the app which I haven't downloaded yet, so it seems like they are doing updates to that which is a good sign for the future. Anyway just wanted to check back with my thoughts so far 👍
@@Feverstockphoto I'm glad that you've had a positive experience with this product! It definitely seems like everything is good... for the price. There are no extraordinary features but considering it is so cheap, it's decent.
@@UK_Cuber Yeah It could be a lot better by adding adjustable magnet system or stronger magnets, Gyroscope system, UV coating and better tensioning system. Also the app has room for improvement but it's a good first stab and hopefully they will release a premium version in the future that can match or surpass the Gan 12 ui for a fraction of the price 🙂👍
Clickbait title. In the end he says it's not too bad, just the app needs improvement.
Even if I said it was alright, I have high standards for cubes that companies are selling and it is literally the worst cube I have reviewed out of everything I have ever made a video on.
i mean there are definitely things of value you brought up but there are also definitely issues with the review
first of all, the title and thumbnail are just clickbait. then i dont know what you did on the days you used it and idk how the adjustment system works but i suggest loosening the cube, which seems to be your biggest issue with the cube itself. and lastly, versus modes wont always pair you up with people of exactly your level, in fact if anything its worse on gan since you could always see cubehead getting paired up with people that averaged 6-7 times slower than him when using a gan smart cube for example
but the rest of the things you said are pretty fair and it doesnt seem like it is the smartcube we were all told it was
In terms of the title and thumbnail, this is just a concept that has worked well on RUclips in the past and I also think that I genuinely haven't reviewed any cubes worse than this! And yes, no smart cubes are perfect, including the ones from GAN however I do think that in general, they are better (despite also serving bad competitors in the battle modes).
@@UK_Cuber yeah maybe the title isnt very clickbaity, but the thumbnail definitely is, and just because something is trendy on yt it doesnt take away from what it is (that doesnt mean its detrimental to the video or anything, just wanted to point it out)
also yes, gans smartcubes are definitely better, but the i carry 2 is more than 1,5x more expensive, which in my opinion makes up for the difference on the apps (only mentioning the app cause if you loosen the other cube it will pretty much be as good if not better than an i carry), so the way i see it it pretty much comes down to how much youre willing to spend on a smartcube

This is a case of the product wasn't really ready but the fans still wanted it after the wait. Not one on my list if i get a smart cube at the moment

i just get this cube, for 19€, this is an isane cube
just get the gan 12 ui the performance is better and the the app is way easier to navigate. Gan makes the most advanced smart cube experience and at the moment there is no reason to get a smartcube from another brand. also if you think the gan 12 ui is too expensive just get the Gan i carry 2.
I think that the 12 ui is a little bit too expensive right now, which is why I prefer the i Carry. However I do also agree that GAN currently do it the best out of everyone when it comes to smart cubes.
I've seen people praise the Go Cube and the Rubik's Connected apps a lot more than GAN's CubeStation. But for their price, I'd expect not only a decent app, but a very good cube as well and I'm not sure if they're able to deliver on that department.
My main gripe with CubeStation is that it can get pretty unresponsive and slow to slideshow levels of performance on lower spec phones / tablets. And I don't mean "bottom of the barrel, cheapest thing you can find an the market", just average hardware. Also, my 1st gen i Carry has been having weird desync issues in about 5% of the solves, not sure if I should change the batteries or what, it still says the charge is above 50%.
I got the 12ui a bit early and I have some mixed feelings. While it does have excellent performance, the rechargable battery drains too quickly, never managed to get a 2h practice session on it without having to pause for a recharge. Otherwise it's great, vastly improved over the original i/i2/i3/iCarry design, but it still suffer from gyro drift and it's pretty annoying to adjust the orientation on the current version of CubeStation, it used to be easier, now I need to navigate the settings a lot more than I used to.
The statistics of the app are nice, the cube does what it should do. It learned accurate turning, and enhanced my slow-solve experience. In the end it's the second or third best smart cube you can buy. And it is cheap. No smart cube will ever reach the level of a 12ui, which costs 6-fold more.
Yeah, that makes sense but I'd still pay slightly more and get the GAN i Carry over this.

I had try this cube before but i didnt like it. It felt like a heavy meilong, It was locking up on me when I try to solve fast and the app is so annoying to use too still an Amazing Video tho very detailed!!!
