The "Gentleman's Agreement" didn't only affect sports cars. Every car that made more than 200hp couldn't make more than 276hp. Also, Kei cars couldn't exceed 64hp.
I have some experience with the Super Hicas system in a 1991 240SX SE hatchback I owned back in 1999. The system worked amazing in that car. It stayed basically stock other than exhaust and springs because back then there wasn't an option to go with more anywhere near where I lived, and at the time I 18 so my pockets weren't deep. I would be lying if said the R34 wasn't the best of the 3, but I'm a little nostalgic about the R33, making it my favorite on a aesthetic level
I have an R33 GTR. When you're about to break traction in corners, it can be unnerving when you feel the car start to "float" to the side but not break traction. I ended up deleting HICAS and how I can predictably slide it a little.
If I recall, some of the last R34 special editions were actually used vehicles bought back from there owners and completely stripped down and rebuilt buy hand!🤔😊 Thought only one was repainted purple! Nice channel, keep it coming!
I remember just a few years ago when R32s were legal to import you could buy an R34 GTR at a Japanese Auction for less than $40k USD and have it stored until its legal to import
Im probably the one guy here that has actually interacted with these cars, rb26 was unreliable, oil pan especially. Almost no one likes the gtr as a street car the gtt being a better option as it was rear wheel drive and didnt have that annoying attesa system. So the recommendation i make is a 34gtt with a big single turbo.
In my early 20's my bestfriend and myself grew-UP with a Hustler/Racer in Trinidad that had one and the Sound of it got some Piss drips coming out EASY especially being driven Sideways when you WEREN'T ready for the *G's* Rip Kerry BIGGUP Turbo Dave
I discovered the R34 when reading the May 1998 issue of Sport Compact Car. I was reading it because it was mostly about getting 450HP from a Nissan 300ZXTT. I knew what one was before videogames and movies made it visible in the USA. I then explained that I was born to be a car guy. 3 Nissans would highly influence me. 1. 1985 Nissan Maxima. My mom had this and I thought it was really neat. It made me know the name Nissan when many kids didn't. 2. Nissan 300ZXTT. It came out when I was 5 and instantly wanted it. Also, I knew the name Nissan. If I didn't, maybe I wouldn't have noticed it. Turbo power was magic back in the 80s, twin turbo was more magical. 3. R34 GT-R. It shocked my world to realize that such a great car wasn't sold in the USA.
I don't hate the R34 but I like my R33 better. On another note if you do get one you better check the timing belt as RBs are interference type engines. For those who don't know what that means if the timing belt goes, the whole engine goes.
Yes, nobody in my family knew what a timing belt was in my family, until 1994. It went boom in mom's 1985 Maxima and that was the end of it. To the engineers who put them on cars, please hang yourself with one. I may love the R34 GT-R and Z32TT, but that doesn't mean I have to love every part of them.
The R33 GTR was sold in the UK, there were a few cars brought over from Japan and modified to UK road spec,so there are UK spec cars here in Great Britain originally sold by a dealer with warranty.
Sorry I had to skip back.... did you just shout out stoke??? 😂 known affectionately here as Stoke On Dust in referance to the synthetic drug activity, I can assure you, there are not many R34s knocking about... in fact the JDM scene mainly consists of scoobys but yes, if I saw one at Maccies on festival park, I would be impressed 😂
As a user of the metric system I would like to say thank you for using the word kilogram. And you can import them into South Africa but the price is bonkers and the paperwork is like trying to adopt a child. And our roads are that of the UK and Japan so RHD works out nicely here.
Any importer of cars into the US has garages in places where the R34 was sold. They bought as many as they could waiting for the 25 year mark. When that happens, they will all make instant money. But it will also instantly kill the value of the few rare R34'sin the US right now. Hope you aren't the idiot that bought one for 300K.
If you do want a r34 just buy a 4door they are super cheap Btw you westerner’s will never be able to own the active red or the lightning yellow they are black listed they can’t be registered to the road and the same goes for the midnight purple r34 also you can’t put it under show car anymore it will be crushed 😢
Im So happy if US people cant afford a GTR R34. If they can Im sure they will ruin those beauties by swapping engines, adding bodykits, and end up in a crash yard. Let those beauties rest in their motherland.
Ive watched countless stories on the cars history, kinda hate how no one takes the V35 or V36 seriously. I think the G35 and G37 are underrated in their potential and are still considered skylines. Even the Q50/Q60. Would looove to see you guys do a continuation of a more obtainable, and influential car in the nissan community, regardless of its ratchet and reckless stigma. Tl;DR can you please do the same for the G35/G37 and the Q50/Q60 🤩🖤
LOL do you think at 21 most people in the world could manage to find a proper job or start their own business. ?? You are so lucky if you can afford one before 30s.
The 34 was no king... F&F reference is insulting... I stopped there cause is not credibility. The close to a winning R34 machine is the Mcr34 and is never mentioned cause people and media only do reference to a crappy movie.
I got a 1999 Skyline R34 GT-T 2dr in late 2019 for $20,000 Canadian, I wanted a GT-R but $60,000 at the time was too steep for me at the time.. Looking at prices today I'm glad I got mine when I did, and I am happy I got the GT-T, I can still enjoy it and have fun with it at a decent insurance rate. Where the GT-Rs are becoming garage queens and hardly really being enjoyed these days, yes, definitely overpriced.
@@isaiahfabian8401 not necessarily, it depended on condition and edition, as much as it does today, you can still find affordable Skylines if you know where to look, especially if you stay away from import dealerships
