This one was just hilarious. Thanks, Larson. ;-) And yes, we're a bit behind on our uploads this week. Hopefully we'll get a chance to record soon and we'll be able to catch up. Until then, hope you enjoy our reaction!
There's much confusion over how much Larson was involved in this episode. He himself says this episode "isn't his" (there's an interview I can link) so it's probably different from what he envisioned.
It's not the first time he didn't want to be pinned to an episode ;J As far as I remember, that was also one of the reasons he went with the initials "M.A." in the credits instead of the full name ;)
This episode is a metaphor for the fandom. When Hasbro released the series to begin with, they did not expect the fandom to ever grow to its current size. Each voice actor has had their Fame and Misfortune and has proven how much the enjoy but also disapprove of the fandom. The point of the episode was to communicate how the show staff think of the fandom and the head cannons that have been produced. They have tried every way to communicate their thoughts, even through song but the fandom continues to argue over every epidode. But even 1 change, 1 good thing like BronyCon's chariy auction, can make all the annoyances worth it. And just like it said at the end, the staff will still have to deal with the fandom but they choose to accept it and deal with the annoyances. And, the fandom can wait a while for different things to be revealed. P.S. Toola Rula and Coconut Cream are Gen 3 characters, which are why their manes are different.
The meta ness of this episode was off of the charts and it was absolutely amazing! From Applejack being popular, to Rarity being disliked to the meta ness of Fluttershy learning a similar lesson over and over. He was really pushing it with the fandom, and it was just pure awesomeness. I loved it so much, and really this episode really does show how much they've all changed, while not a lot they've still changed, and it's great to see in this episode being let out and explored. And the song has become one of my favorites of the series. Loved it so much, great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
Yep. Of course the song didn't do anything; that was the point. XD Critics aren't going to stop nitpicking in real life just because of a little song, and it's not going to happen in the show either. ;-)
A slap to the face of the fandom. And the "meta" gets deeper when you draw more connections: Twilight releases this piece of work, Lauren Faust releases this show (concept). Hasbro continues marketting, the adults critique and argue, the staff (Twilight's friends) get stressed by this madness, and the 2 foals are the intended audience (or the 2% of the fandom that actually gets it). On another note, "how we don't let it affect us" goes to people who create things and let the (small) critique get to them. Do what you want and don't fall into despare from the negative feedback.
I think I know why Starlight didn't use time-spells. She's learning to not take shortcuts and face the problem head-first. Plus, I doubt she wants to face the same consequences as S5 finale.
I think the reason for their friendship journal being in such a decrepit state is that it may be one of the few books that survived the destruction Tirek did to Twilight's old library home.
I think also the thing with the fillys is the most interesting. It begins with the fillys and ends with them. So with all these fandom based message I think this is the biggest one, like: After all it's a series for children and not for adults. And for children it is fabulous.
Starlight had made copies of a certain... manifesto, a reference to her communist/fascist past. Hope ya'll got to go back and rewatch to catch some of the jokes you missed. :)
It was not communism and for sure no fascism. It was a cult. Come on people, there is more in the world than that. But you´re right with the reference.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to be seeing this episode a few more times over the course of the next week or so. I've got my own commentators I like watching.
Once again you guys are amazing, 2 more episodes were out, just telling you in case you didn't know. Episode 15 came out on August 19, and episode 16 came out August 26, oh, and episode 17 just came out on September 2 (today).
The one thing I loved most about this episode was how they portrayed the Mane Six during the song. I mean, they put Rainbow with Fluttershy, Applejack with Pinkie Pie and Rarity with Twilight. And if you think away Twilight's wings, that has the Pegasi together, the Earth Ponies together and the Unicorns together - and even if you don't you can still see it as the animators putting the Magic Users together, so that's still a brilliant touch, especially with how both of them used magic on the book Twilight was reading during the song. Also, unless I am mistaken, in Twilight's Kingdom, they last had the book when in the Castle of the Two Princesses, so I can only assume that it got bad there and was, at some point off-screen, moved into the Crystal castle, though I can't imagine when that happened. Wait, was Inspiration Manifestation before Twilight's Kingdom or after? Cause if it was after, it might be that Spike found the journal there alongside the book he gave Rarity and told Twilight about it, who then went to retrieve it. Just a theory, though, if Inspiration was after Twilight's Kingdom, you can just ignore this whole thing.
I don't think anyone noticed, at least reactors I've seen so far, that in the Sweet Apple Acres part, all those ponies had apple related pictures taped over their cutie marks.
I came up with this theory. As LittleShyFims pointed out Twilight's castle is basically "Hasbro giving us the finger", so before this episode released, the writers were subtly saying "fuck the bronies and fuck the fandom". This definitely proves that Hasbro has been giving us the finger since Twilight's Kingdom
05:20 Yeah, at first I also thought that she's sorting it so that each pony had their own lessons in their own books. But it turns out that she made copies. I hope she will not use this spell on Equestrian Bits, though :q 05:40 Nope. She was talking about making copies of her Equality Manifesto back in that village cult of hers :) 06:23 If only more Humans thought the way you do :P But nope, seems that ebooks are not free in your world, even if making copies of them is :P They often cost even more than paperbacks! :P 09:34 Are you sure you REALLY want that? do you _really_ want more ponies in Equestria to behave like Humans? :P 14:12 "Becoming so unpopular, as unpopular can be" :q 16:01 Screenshot pose :) 18:44 I was waiting the entire episode to see your reaction to this line, and you did not disappoint :) "Twilight was better before she got wings" - M.A.Larson 2017 :) 19:23 Looks like Twilight have learnt a lot about singing and song writing during her stay in Human World, because this song sounds awful lot like the ones in "Equestria Girls" movies :> I love it! :> 20:11 Applejack is Rarity's new fainting couch :J 21:58 More like the target audience :) As one of the commenters put it: "Typical ending, all the bronies fight and some little girls learn something." :q 23:10 Yeah, go back to Human World! :P 23:14 Nope, they're ignorants, fuck'em :q 23:30 I guess Twilight just have to send a couple of ponies to the Moon and they will respect her as much as they respect Princess Celestia :J
5:40 Yeah, we kinda talked over that bit. 6:23 Well, _some_ books are free. Almost all fanfiction, for example. 16:01 XD 18:44 Yeah, that part was definitely my favorite. 19:23 Now that you mention it it does kinda remind me of Equestria Girls. 21:58 I didn't really have time to completely explain what I was thinking here, but my thought was that the ponies outside complaining were just part of a vocal minority. Whenever you put anything in front of a large audience there'll always be _some_ people who don't like it, and those people often tend to be the loudest. In reality though, for every person complaining, there are many, many more who enjoyed what you did and got something valuable from it. I guess they didn't really go there with this episode, but I still think that's a good way to look at situations like this.
They found the journal in the castle. Remember. In season 4, that journal was a major plot point for the finale. So yes, they did get that journal after Twilight got wings. It's a joke for jokes sake I suppose.
This is very late, but didn't Starlight say in episode 19 of Season 7 that you can't just make something, and that it needs to come from somewhere, where did the cover of the book and the pages come from
1. 2:06 Kristina: "You know these ponies?" I guess Twilight took that comment from Pinkie Pie ("And you call yourself the Princess of Friendship!") to heart and went on a mission to learn everypony's name. 2. 2:16 Who ordered the Princess a la mode? 3. 3:23 David: "Dude, that book is falling apart! It's not that old, is it?" I don't think it's the passage of time, but rather being in a building that got nuked to kingdom come that did all that. 4. 4:55 Rainbow: "When I learn something, I learn it hard!" Sex Ed must have been quite the experience for RD. 5. 7:48 Twilight: "...but the purpose of the journal isn't supposed to be marketing!" tinyurl.com/StopBeingAHypocriteHasbro 6. 19:17 Kristina: "Everyone will listen, you're singing now." As per the rules of Saturday morning cartoons. 7. 20:27 David (during the song): "Also, fourth wall breaking." It's not just for the pink one anymore! 8. 23:28 Andrew: "Twilight's going to finally need to get guards to fend off all the angry mobs." Finally, a use for Flash Sentry! He can be Twi's first meat shield. 9. 30:31 David: "For whoever is still here, thank you." And for whoever is still reading this, you're welcome.
I still think Amending Fences is best episode just because I love it so much, it's relatable to me. But this episode is definitely up there. Plus the song has become either my favorite or in my top 3 favorite songs of the series.
I mean, yeah it was good, but _The Perfect Pear_ was also this season. That one's gonna pretty hard to top. XD There is a chance this season might beat out season 5 as my favorite though. 3. Pretty sure it wasn't in the Golden Oak library when it got destroyed if that's what you're referring to. Twilight left it in the Castle of the Two Sisters while all that was going down, remember? Another commenter suggested it might have gotten a bit messed up during the events of _Every Little Thing She Does_, which seems a bit more likely if you ask me. 9. :-)
Manuel Martinez and one that many nit pickers bashed (looking at you mr.enter! You hypocritical bastard who wouldn’t know quality if it litteraly bit you in the ass)
Who's gonna bet in future mlp convention someone at least one fan asking question about the S7 E14 hired during bronycon was on purpose or not to the writters.
Was anyone else a bit annoyed when they questioned something and the episode sort of answered but they were too busy laughing...I just wished they would have payed more attention.
I'll admit that did happen a bit more than usual with this episode. In all fairness though, there _was_ a lot more than usual to talk about with this episode too. ;-)
This one was just hilarious. Thanks, Larson. ;-)
And yes, we're a bit behind on our uploads this week. Hopefully we'll get a chance to record soon and we'll be able to catch up. Until then, hope you enjoy our reaction!
The journal came in season 4.
PonyWatch are you guys siblings
There's much confusion over how much Larson was involved in this episode. He himself says this episode "isn't his" (there's an interview I can link) so it's probably different from what he envisioned.
It's not the first time he didn't want to be pinned to an episode ;J As far as I remember, that was also one of the reasons he went with the initials "M.A." in the credits instead of the full name ;)
PonyWatch best reaction to old mare talking about twilight's wings by far.
This episode is a metaphor for the fandom. When Hasbro released the series to begin with, they did not expect the fandom to ever grow to its current size. P.S. Toola Rula and Coconut Cream are Gen 3 characters, which are why their manes are different.
Jade Muse I heard some received death threats because of an episode.
I somewhat feel guilty now. 😅
Rarity has the best faces this season.
I want to hold her so bad!
XD.
Also it wasn't Starswirl's spell she was talking about, it was the Equal Our Town that Starlight was talking about.
I love how you guys actually get this episode!! People get have mixed reactions about the song not doing anything.
Yep. Of course the song didn't do anything; that was the point. XD Critics aren't going to stop nitpicking in real life just because of a little song, and it's not going to happen in the show either. ;-)
This was such a great reaction and the episode made me appreciate the lessons in the previous episodes more rather than just the entertainment.

The book was published after Twilight noticed fillys with friendship problems -> It's a children series. :D
The two fillies in this episode are Toola Roola and Coconut Cream, both from G3!
Nadia Putri Agusalim and there throwing ice cream is a reference to a g1 episode, the great ice cream wars.
Twilight wasn't doing a book signing at the school. She was giving the books to the kids for free.
Don't worry, guys, we really appreciate all the sacrifices you have to make.
Don't worry; that whole bit in the intro was a joke, mostly. ;-)
I think I know why Starlight didn't use time-spells.
She's learning to not take shortcuts and face the problem head-first.
Plus, I doubt she wants to face the same consequences as S5 finale.
Yeah, unless the world is coming to an end, time travel is probably not worth the risk (assuming they even have the ability to time travel anymore).
The friendship journal was in the library when it was destroyed by Tirek, so it isn't going to look the best after that.
You sure about that? Didn't Twilight and Discord have it in the Castle of the Two sisters earlier on that same episode?
no it wasn't it was in the Castle of the Two Sisters
It is in bad shape because of the "Every Little Thing She Does"
+OMEGA Ah, that makes way more sense. Yeah, I guess getting completely soaked might very well do that to a book.
This is my fourth favorite episode of the season, and my sixth favorite episode of the entire SERIES
Celestia sent all of Twilights letters back to her in the season 2 premiere
Yeah, it's possible she decided to include them in the journal after the fact. That's the only explanation I can think of that makes sense really.
awe man they missed the part where somepony said
"IS APPLEJACK AND PINKIE RELATED OR WHAT?!"
it would be amazing if they heard that
it's applejack and pinkie not rarity lol.
oh yeah I typed it wrong sorry
it happens
Toni kaye Barredo that question I do want answered.
I think the reason for their friendship journal being in such a decrepit state is that it may be one of the few books that survived the destruction Tirek did to Twilight's old library home.

So with all these fandom based message I think this is the biggest one, like: After all it's a series for children and not for adults. And for children it is fabulous.
Since it is a frienship journal, I am thinking Twilight wrote down previous friendship lessons she and the others learned. It would make sense.
5:41 I think she was referring to the equal sign book things back in Season 5
Pinkie was reading them I think
Starlight had made copies of a certain... manifesto, a reference to her communist/fascist past. Hope ya'll got to go back and rewatch to catch some of the jokes you missed. :)
It was not communism and for sure no fascism. It was a cult. Come on people, there is more in the world than that. But you´re right with the reference.
Yeah, but it was a mix of all of those things and probably more. Sort of an all-purpose brainwashy equal, but not thingy-thing.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to be seeing this episode a few more times over the course of the next week or so. I've got my own commentators I like watching.
Yes it was Communism Larson confirms it in Bronies React ;D
Larson is a troll, you can´t take him serious
Your reactions were hilarious
Once again you guys are amazing, 2 more episodes were out, just telling you in case you didn't know. Episode 15 came out on August 19, and episode 16 came out August 26, oh, and episode 17 just came out on September 2 (today).
Yeah, my fault; sorry. We recorded 15 and 16 last week, I just need to get around to editing them.
The one thing I loved most about this episode was how they portrayed the Mane Six during the song. I mean, they put Rainbow with Fluttershy, Applejack with Pinkie Pie and Rarity with Twilight. 14:12 "Becoming so unpopular, as unpopular can be" :q
16:01 Screenshot pose :)
18:44 I was waiting the entire episode to see your reaction to this line, and you did not disappoint :)
"Twilight was better before she got wings" - M.A.Larson 2017 :)
19:23 Looks like Twilight have learnt a lot about singing and song writing during her stay in Human World, because this song sounds awful lot like the ones in "Equestria Girls" movies :> I love it! :>
20:11 Applejack is Rarity's new fainting couch :J
21:58 More like the target audience :) As one of the commenters put it: "Typical ending, all the bronies fight and some little girls learn something." :q
23:10 Yeah, go back to Human World! :P
23:14 Nope, they're ignorants, fuck'em :q
23:30 I guess Twilight just have to send a couple of ponies to the Moon and they will respect her as much as they respect Princess Celestia :J
10:50 *YOU'VE KNOWN ME FOR YEARS!!!*
5:40 Yeah, we kinda talked over that bit.

The Bronies are coming
The Book was destroyed by Tirek and Starlight in Every Little Think She does also the Book is from Season 4 ;D
Another reaction video! Hurrah!
RD:I am awesome
What' s she laughin at anyway?
Her pages pages are full of holes
My guess they wrote all the previous lesson they learned as well after they got the journal
They found the journal in the castle. Remember. In season 4, that journal was a major plot point for the finale. So yes, they did get that journal after Twilight got wings. It's a joke for jokes sake I suppose.
13:02 he said he was mixed, so yes.
Toola roola is from generation 3 and 3.5 of mlp and still my favourite generation of mlp
Coconut cream is from mlp g1
Welcome back
This is very late, but didn't Starlight say in episode 19 of Season 7 that you can't just make something, and that it needs to come from somewhere, where did the cover of the book and the pages come from
Most writers go with the idea of, "Eh, it's magic. We don't have to explain."
Somewhere out there, squirrels had their homes suddenly disappear
Best episode of the season, or what?
1. 2:06 Kristina: "You know these ponies?"
I guess Twilight took that comment from Pinkie Pie ("And you call yourself the Princess of Friendship!") to heart and went on a mission to learn everypony's name.

6. 19:17 Kristina: "Everyone will listen, you're singing now."
As per the rules of Saturday morning cartoons.
7. 20:27 David (during the song): "Also, fourth wall breaking."
It's not just for the pink one anymore!
8. 23:28 Andrew: "Twilight's going to finally need to get guards to fend off all the angry mobs."
Finally, a use for Flash Sentry! He can be Twi's first meat shield.

And for whoever is still reading this, you're welcome.

9. :-)
This is in my top 10
You wouldn't know what they're saying. All you do is talk.
I love this episode and I believe it's one that our fandom really needed to see.
Manuel Martinez and one that many nit pickers bashed (looking at you mr.enter! You hypocritical bastard who wouldn’t know quality if it litteraly bit you in the ass)
AMEN!
Who's gonna bet in future mlp convention someone at least one fan asking question about the S7 E14 hired during bronycon was on purpose or not to the writters.
Pinkie is best Pony! Rarity is a close second lol jk this episode was great I loved it!
Was anyone else a bit annoyed when they questioned something and the episode sort of answered but they were too busy laughing...I just wished they would have payed more attention.
Lots of reactors do that, especially in groups. It can be annoying, but it's just an aspect of reaction videos, really.
*Cheers*
this juornal was from Season 3 Episode 3
8:08 they already have.
The vocal minority is always so annoying and drowns out the chill majority and it makes the fandom (any fandom) a toxic place.
100th like, yay
Hello Andrew
Hi.
React to anthology 6 it's hilarious
You are talking too much and mising what is said in the episode because of it
It's almost like it's a reaction video! Gasp.
I'll admit that did happen a bit more than usual with this episode. In all fairness though, there _was_ a lot more than usual to talk about with this episode too. ;-)
First?
Last?
SVGLNR Lol Yeah, I never get first. I just thought I'd try it once for fun.
