  • Nanaimo RCMP depend on volunteers as a part of their daily operation, and the auxiliary officers are fully suited up, highly trained, and active back-up members of the force.

I enjoyed the wonderful privilege of being an Auxiliary member of the Ontario Provincial Police - served 18 years as an Auxiliary Staff Sgt. Keep up the good work, brother.

Upmost of respect to all aux. constables. My dad was a aux. constable for 13 years (i believe) and 2 time Auxiliary Constable of the year with the surrey RCMP.

I hope your dad is not part of those land grabbing police at coyote camp.
Its inhumane and jaw dropping what Canadian police with sniper did to those native.
So much of bullshit human rights.

I disagree.it's apprenticeship the training and skill you learn is valuable. some jobs you pay to do the apprenticeships just look at collage.

    • @nikolai3620

That would completely defeat the purpose and definition of a "volunteer".
I've been a Reserve Constable for 2 years. I'll get paid when I transition to working as a regular member, not when I'm giving my time for the good of my community and my local police department.

Why would you want to be be an auxiliary police officer when you could just apply to be a full badge RCMP officer.? I guess to try it out and get an understanding how if everything works before hand? He said he had to do classroom time and about 6 months of criminal code and self defense? If i were doing all that i would just take the exam, go through all the steps than go to DEPO and become a RCMP officer?

Or people like myself -- I'm interested in becoming a police officer but I'm well into my career and don't want to start over with a complete different retirement system. So until I retire from my day job I'll try working as a volunteer with a police department until such time I can start a 2nd career.

Aux. constables aren't held to the same patrol/"activity" requirements as a normal constable, as its more geared towards people who want to experience law enforcement and juggle a job at the same time.

Auxiliary should not exist in the manor to which they are using them for in this video. Fully trained POs only at domestics, weapons calls. When the regular member told the aux to cover the back.... he should have said .... stay in the car

Because he can't cover shit with no service pistol. I'm a formal LEO. Cover means cover with full potential. Imagine saying I'm going here cover me, implied is defence . If someone produces a firearm the aux. is fucked and it twist it the other way if the regular member needs backup in the means of firearm to firearm incidents the aux. is no good. Simple really. Tactically sound really. In some parts of Canada aux are not used anymore on the street but only used for lock up for this reason and many more legal reasons too

    • @jaypitts3100
