      From what I know, you can still detain someone if you reasonably believe a crime was committed. However, you had better be positive, or else you can be charged with false imprisonment or some other crime, depending on state law. The whole issue will end up coming down to self-defense, and I know that at least in Wisconsin, even provocation does not forfeit the right to use deadly force if you believe your life is in danger, which could very possibly apply here as well.

    • @mobetta2092
      @mobetta2092 3 года назад +76

      @@thegamsta7133 Your last sentence implies that a pedestrian could abruptly cross in front of a moving vehicle and legally shoot the driver with a self-defense claim because he felt the vehicle was a threat to his life. (A person can't instigate a situation then play victim).
      This is no different than Travis testifying that he aggressively chased Arbery down, including changing paths of direction in order to interfere with Arbrey's attempt to avoid him. Gets out of the vehicle with shotgun without announcing who he was or what his concerns with Arbery were, while blocking Arbery....then say "self-defense" when Arbery fights the deadly shotgun threat that he (McMichael) chose to pose.
      If a vehicle was chasing you and you feel the occupants are gonna rob or kill you, will you think it's justifiable for them to kill if you choose to fight your way out of the situation? And their justification is that you defending yourself from their aggressively unknown intentions made you the threat that needed to be killed.

      And the only time one can really shoot a fleeing suspect is one, the trigger puller had to have witnessed a heinous act and the suspect positively identified and they better be a imminent threat to everyone and anything if they’re not stopped on top of, you better make it known you’re the good guy before you shoot. And that’s just one aspect in a very complex topic.

      @Trumped Huh? "Y'all" and other slang words are not exclusive to black people. In fact, it is believed that the word originated from "Ye aw", a slang term used by the Scottish & Irish immigrants in the 1800s. In fact, when you google "Ye aw", "Y'all" immediately pops up. Also, it seems some other southern slang came from them like "yous/youse". After all, slaves learned how to speak english from the people who knew english, no?
      You're welcome for correcting your ignorance. I wonder, if using slang is trying to be black, am I trying to be white because of my grammar?

    I know there’s not really a “right” way to raise your kids but I hope I’m raising my son to see & treat everyone the same and never judge no matter what!! My son is 9 and recently learned about racism in school. My sweet little boy was so shocked & upset at what he was learning. He knew I grew up with a pool so he asked me if everyone was allowed to swim in it. He learned that whites wouldn’t let blacks swim in their pool. I proudly said mema & papa treated all our friends the same. They were born in the 40’s and the most humble caring people. I’m proud they raised us like they did. When I was 3 my first and only doll was black. I wanted a doll that looked just like my babysitter. My mom said we got weird looks all the time but she never cared. I still proudly brought her everywhere I went. My sitter and her husband lived on my parents property and were like family to us. I just can’t even imagine how people like these POS’s were raised. How dare them! Makes me so upset. This world has some real sick people in it. I’ll never understand it. Please change if you were raised to treat others different. People say you learn it in your home. It’s not too late to change. Stay safe everyone ❤️

      I raised my 3 children about racism explained to them using this example. When Jesus was nailed on the cross what color was his blood, they replied red, asked them when they fall and skin their knee what color is their blood-red they would reply. When someone of different color fall and hurt their knee what color is their blood they replied red. They would look wondering for a minute and ask so all people's blood is the same as theirs. that all people are the same even with different skin colors. They're grown now with children of their own, using the same example I raised them with. Racism is taught we're not born with it. It starts in the home by the adults.

Note how cleverly the prosecutor allows Travis to run on and make things worse for himself. Example: trying to deny that he meant to say to the officer that he told his Dad to call the cops. @Susel It's only wrong (illegal) if you must pass through a barrier (like a fence) or if an obvious no tresppasing sign is posted. The defence was grasping at straws and the prosecutor knew it.

      Mandatory minimum of life in prison for their murder convictions. If the judge chooses to give them parole, they'll be eligible in 30 yrs...if not they're in Georgia Dept of Corrections for life.
      If they parole in 30yrs, they'll be released to the feds to start their prison sentence with the Bureau of Prisons because they're now being tried on federal charges.

      @@mobetta2092 and travis doesnt even qualify for parole. In georgia, a malice murder charge makes you intelligible for parole. And i highly doubt the other two will live another 30 years so theyre all pretty much guaranteed to die in state prison anyway. But the federal charges will still be a fun little afterparty
