  • The Original, 1st Generation HomePods occasionally malfunction due to a logic board failure and become unusable. The symptom is flashing, or blinking volume buttons. While this symptom may be caused by multiple issues, such as a hardware problem (typically the NAND flash memory failure), it is often caused by a failed firmware/software update. The user is usually left with no means to address this as these HomePods do not come with a USB port accessible from outside. We show the procedure that we use at Minn-Tech.com to address the software-caused malfunction to reinstall and repair the firmware/software in this video.
