Hell allot of don't even want love. They'll swat and hiss at you if you try to give them love. Not every cat, I've owned 2 really good cats out of the 6 I've had throughout my life that were lovable and wanted attention. But the rest were assholes. Like they'd even trick you into thinking they wanted your love by walking up purring and rubbing there head against you but if you tried to pet them they'd bite you.
I love cats but I can understand why others may not.

I literally had the most surreal experience listening to this podcast 🤣. I fell asleep at the very start because I was so tired but I was actually listening to it in my sleep and I had a dream that I was there talking to them and was trying to have my input and response but they would just ignore me and talk over me. I thought they were so rude. It wasn’t until after I woke up that the reason why they were ignoring me in my dream was because I was listening to the real life conversation 😂. What the hell just happened to me hahahah

I think Ethan's problem with most cats, and many people's issues with cats, is that they approach cats like they do dogs. Cats and dogs are different; they have different body language, different ways they want to be pet or cuddled, different ways of showing love, etc. I've always preferred cats because I understand cats better. People who prefer dogs generally understand dogs better.

i feel like the people who dont like cats because they 'think theyre better than everyone else' feel inferior and the cats trigger the inferiority they already feel inside of themselves. dogs act like humans are gods and humans are so fragile they need that to feel powerful. cats are for bad bitches only sorry i dont make the rules.
and for the bad experiences with cats part.... it is not common for cats to act like he described unless they have had their own trauma, or maybe cats are petty when they feel bad vibes coming from you being a hater in the first place. its wild that people categorize a whole species as bad just bc they had some bad experiences with some of them.. me and so many others have been around cats our whole lives and we are not having anything close to the same experience with cats as you (out of the countless cats throughout the years i have had the privilege to meet), interpret what your hate for them says about you however you decide.
it makes it worse that he didnt even understand the experience and why the cat was that way... animals do 'bad' things when they are hurting. i feel like humans can be so involved in their own inner world that they dont consider that other people and animals also have their own inner worlds and their own pain that they can sometimes turn outwards into the world that we all share.. even cats. cats are probably just more extreme when they are turning their pain out into the worlds, for the ones who have been traumatized, because lets face it cats got that power energy that is not found anywhere else especially not a dog (ps i adore dogs but its a fact they are submissive when they have a leader). with love :D.
** i want to add that cats have taught me lessons about life and how to interact with others.. not to be a pushover people pleaser and to have more respect for myself. i started to realize how much people subconsciously make themselves another persons b*tch so they dont offend them aka people pleaser, and at the same time would see other people who were like cats and didnt care at all about pleasing others and knowing they are queens, gods, whatever .. maybe it triggers people who dont think of themselves highly when a cat walks in with its confidence and is aloof to your existence, i feel like thats where the inferiority complex comes in, followed by the hate. they had a huge role in teaching me self respect and it was a big lesson in my lifetime, so thats a big reason why i think so highly of them enough to say all this (and simply because of the love i have shared with so many cats), i respect them and its irritating when people cant do critical thinking enough to analyze a situation more. smaaaaaalllll mindeddd energyyyy im not gonna lie to you. also im just saying what i believe based off of what ive observed in life dont be rollin up all offended n shit okay love uuuu

Ethan just hasn’t experienced a good bond with a cat. He needs to be exposed to friendly ragdolls or something, everyone I know who didn't "like cats" fell in love with my ragdoll. Cats are creatures of consent. You can't treat them like a dog, they're a completely different species. When you bond with a cat though, it's AMAZING and I wish everyone could experience it. It takes time to bond with one, but once you do, there's a connection you feel that's individually special. Every cat even has a different personality! Some breeds you can train and walk like a dog, they're 1000000% softer, and their purrs are magical.
Story of my life with my fiance's ragdoll - coolest cat I have ever met. My dad is seriously allergic to cats and I am fairly allergic to them so we never had any in the house or was ever introduced to one. So my view was always negative. Now after the last four years I am over the moon about cats. Badass little cutie muffins! Questions tho, is your ragdoll super OCD about cleaning? Our ragdoll - yes I know, I call her mine now haha - is obsessed with cleaning herself and is the softest most magical thing ever. Plus the ragdolls don't give me crazy allergies either. Perfect most docile kitty ever.

I’ve never been so proud than to hear Ab is a Twilight fan
My Cat, Zoe, is the sweetest little woman. I've had her for 10 years, she came from a litter my girlfriend was taking care of, so I've watched this lil woman grow up. She used to be WILD hyper and mean. But over time I taught her how to not act that way through training, just like a dog.
Now, at 10 years old, she is my shadow. I keep her indoors and give her lots of play and love. She sticks to my heels like a little DnD familiar, and when I talk to her, she "talks" back with little tiny cute meows. Sometimes while playing, she gets excited and the claws do come out, but she hasnt scratched or bit me in years. She'll swat at me but I can tell she is restraining her claws, which ARE still very sharp. I can tell she makes the conscious effort to not hurt me. She'll "bite" me, but it's really just her lightly opening her mouth on my hand with no force. ALL she ever wants is to be around me, so I keep an extra computer chair right next to me for her to lay in. She's there right now, she always is. And none of that is to say she isn't self-sufficient. She does her own thing, explores the house, chills in other rooms. She is far from annoying or needy. She's an extremely loving little girl.
Just like dogs, there ARE asshole cats. But just as for dogs, it does not represent even a majority of their species.
I understand having trauma from an asshole cat, but you reallllly cant generalize all of them. Every argument made is just simply untrue for many of the cats I've come in contact with, because I understand their reactions to things and their body-language.
People hate cats because they don’t understand boundaries and cat behaviour. Dog and cat behaviour are not the same. You treat a cat like a dog, and you’ll misread all of their signals and not give them the proper environment.
Literally all cat “behavioural issues” are due to inappropriate living environments and not looking after them properly (people just leave them in an average house, no cat modifications). But instead of actually training and working with your cat (as you would with a dog), people just say “oh, they’re assholes.”
An untrained dog that’s not stimulated daily may appear to be an “asshole” too 🤷🏻♀️.
Just as you should walk and play with your dog, you should REALLY play with your cat. Get them moving, running about, really exhibiting hunting behaviours. This is the equivalent of walking your dogs/taking them to dog parks. So many cats aren’t properly played with (just wiggling a string halfheartedly isn’t enough), so they have all of this pent up energy that can be misplaced in destructive ways. What happens when you leave a dog home alone with nothing to do? There’s a high chance they’ll be destructive.
People don’t take the time to learn how to approach cats, like they do dogs. If anything, you don’t approach them (especially a cat you don’t know). You come down to their level, slow blink at them and let them come to you. If they want to.
I’ve ended up sitting outside with random cats on my lap this way. Apparently there’s an aggressive cat in my area, but every cat has always been a delight, or there’s one cat that prefers to be left sunbathing in a particular spot. So I just say hello, slow blink and walk on. At one point, there was a new cat who was very shy. They’d always be at the same part during my morning walk. We made progress, before I stopped seeing them. Maybe they became an indoor cat, who knows. I’m a strong advocate for indoor cats, despite what I’ve just been saying. I’d much rather they have an appropriate, safe indoor environment. Even if it means less cat interaction for me.
I’m also highly allergic to cats. I hate that I’m allergic. I don’t hate cats. I hate my genetics. I have to pick and choose how I go about interactions and play it really safe. Instant hand washing, lint rolling, allergy creams (some make my hands flare up and literally burn), allergy tablets etc.
I understand that having a bad experience as a child creates fear. This happens with people and dogs too. But I really hate that cats are just given this label anyway.
Be a “dog person” if you wish, but realise that the interaction failures with cats is on YOU and/or other people, not the cat. Just as people would say the same for dogs. Bad owners, not bad animals. A lot of it is misinformation, don’t get me wrong. People don’t know, and that’s what ultimately sucks.

Ian is correct about the Nintendo stuff, I just feel his argument wasn’t as strong as it could’ve been. He’s correct about Mario and Zelda, but part of it is just that Nintendo is so lazy. They made an emulated 35th anniversary of three old -Mario games and said they were gonna stop selling them in March.
-They just unveiled a “new” switch and they only difference is the screen size and it’s now OLED, it’s nowhere near what it should’ve been.
-They don’t progress in the realm of graphics, the docked Switch Home Screen is like three pixels on the tv, with its 1080p output
- they give old nes games if you have their online service but they only add them whenever they want, and they even said they do it whenever they want.

ngl as a cat lover I’m sick of the mentality that cats “think they’re better” or “have no companionship.”
I’m sick of it bc there’s cats being declawed, thrown in shelters and killed because they don’t act the way humans think they should.
Stop anthropomorphising animals. Cats show companionship and affection differently. They communicate through quality time, pheromones and subtle movements. Dogs, having been domesticated for longer, have learned to mimic human emotions. Just because cats don’t do the same doesn’t mean they don’t have emotions or affection.
Also 99% of cat “attacks” are totally avoidable. Don’t go petting or picking up random cats. If a stranger touched you out of nowhere, then you’d probably get mad too. Cats need to know exactly who or what is touching them before they get comfortable. I love dogs too but far more people have been killed by dogs than by cats. It’s not the fault of the dog, of course, it’s the fault of whichever human provoked or trained the dog to act that way. Give cats the same level of understanding.
Cats are not dogs. Cats are not people. They are cats. Treat them like cats and they will show you affection in their own way.
One last slightly unrelated note: black cats are the least likely animal to get adopted from shelters because of dumb superstitions. If you can and are willing, adopt a black cat and give it the love it never received before.

I just commented a similar thing, there are so many misunderstandings about cats! Very well said, I hope many people read this. Cats might need longer to form a loving bond than a typical dog would, because cats need to know they are safe. They might be a little distant with new people or when they’ve just arried at your home, but this is not because they are arrogant or “think they’re better than humans”. It’s cause they need to be safe before they can relax, they need trust. And many people will be offended if they run away from them or don’t want to be pet or picked up and held, which does a cat wrong. The cat will come to you and you need patience, I think that’s where many cat haters fall short
I prefer cats because they're not sycophantic people-pleasers like dogs. Gaining a cat's trust is a far more rewarding. The only superstition I know about black cats is that they're lucky...
Me and my boyfriend found some stray kittens near our appartement building. They were only a couple months old, the winter was coming and we were worried they won't survive. We managed to catch them and decided to foster the kittens until we find them new homes. One of them was taken by a family. We were so happy, they told us they live in a big house with a terrace and they seemed to be good people.
One week passed, the dad called us and told they don't want this cat anymore, because "it's not friendly enough". It was a stray kitten and he needed time to get to know them, but I guess these people had no patience. We took him back and decided to keep both of the kittens ourselves. We already had a cat before that and ended up with three. Six years on we all live together and they are all amazing pets. They are family. Cats are amazing in general, I don't care what people say.

I’m allergic to cats so I try to stay as far away as possible, yet my ex boyfriend’s cat would try to attack me almost every chance it saw me.
My friend’s cat would try to run across the room to attack me when all I would do is sit. That same cat scratched my face while I was sleeping. I woke up to an allergic reaction and my face bleeding.

@@Lily-kh5jc no idea about the cat when you were a baby, but as for your ex boyfriend’s cat, it sounds like there was something setting the cat off mentally. Just like people, cats can get mentally ill and require treatment. If it had a bad home environment or previous trauma, it can cause deeper issues that lead to defensiveness. Totally not your fault of course, (nor your responsibility, your ex should have picked up on it and dealt with it) but not the cat’s fault either.
I don’t know you or your experience, but from your comment it sounds like you’re reading into things too much. Cats are not coming after you because you’re trying to avoid them. They don’t know that you’re allergic. They frankly don’t care about you. They’re cats. Sometimes one bad experience can cloud your judgement upon every other experience and that’s fine. It’s not something you can control, but pls remember that it’s not the cats’ fault either. They’re just animals trying to survive on this big wet rock like the rest of us.
Also cats can 100% be cuddly and affectionate. Cat cafes wouldn’t exist if they only ever attacked.
Again, no obligation to love cats, just please don’t take it personally when a cat doesn’t love you. It’s never the cat’s fault.
