Who could ever imagine this beautiful piece was hiding under all that paint. Love the amount of work you put into the repairs in order to bring it back to it's original look.❤
I am convinced those legs are much earlier than the buffet. Your workmanship on the finish was absolutely superb, and the neighbourhood kittens love you!
I agree. Those legs look more Victorian than Bauhaus or mid-century modern. I would love to know what the original legs were. Judging by the look of it, this may well have been a custom piece. I wonder if it were part of a whole suite of dining room furniture. Seeing the complete room would be a sight to behold
You're 100% correct. It's a sideboard by Beautility, which was an English company specializing in higher end pieces. It would've had standard peg legs or probably slanted pegs which you would see on nearly every mid century piece of this type. If it had been fully restored to it's former glory it would be worth $2,000ish. With those strange legs it's a $500 piece, or whatever someone is willing to pay. In original pristine condition it would be $10,000+.
What a unique piece and what an unimaginable transformation!! Spectacular work, my friend. Thank you for saving this from the landfill, and restoring it for a brand new life.
Only you could have seen the future beauty of this piece. I don't think too many others would even have attempted this. The final result blew me away! This was very labor intensive, but the end result is a showpiece! You did a wonderful job Jay!!!!
Eu também admiro e gosto muito mesmo da organização e limpeza da oficina! Demonstra o quão caprichoso e detalhista é com todos os processos. Ótimo exemplo! Parabéns! 👏👏👏😍💖😘🇧🇷
He is very particular about everything. He is way too hard on himself. Kinda perfectionist. I love all his work. He always amazes me with every new video. Even the videos I have watched many times. I still get so amazed. I love watching how he works. The kitties are a ➕➕➕
An emergency cat break -- lol. I'm all for saving old furniture, but i would never have dreamed in a million years that this piece could have ever been saved, let alone turn out to be so beautiful! That stain color is wonderful, too.
Hi Jay, apart from absolutely worshipping your skills and talent, l love the sound and timbre of your voice. I could listen to you all day. Thank you sir.
Holy cow!! That turned out flipping amazing!!!!! What a unique piece of furniture....I can see why you chose to save it. Great job!! (Always happy to see the kitties 😸)
Jay I think it’s fair to say this is your calling….with every restoration your work just keeps getting better. Every video the patience and attention to detail is outstanding. Another stunning piece 😊 Natalie
Yes, this piece does appear to be a marriage. The legs and base are two different styles and woods. I wonder what the original base was like. It possibly had 4 simple legs. In its time this was not a cheap piece of piece of furniture.
Stumbled across this video and gave it a watch, at first I though why would anyone want to save that horrible thing, then I could see why. You have made something that looked dated into something absolutely amazing and beautiful. Great work and also inspirational.
What an incredible restoration!! You did an excellent job!! I looked up the brand and these pieces sell for thousands!! You’ve given this jewel a new life, and I hope it is appreciated for many years to come!! Bravo!!
This video just appeared on my RUclips feed, and I was intriguied, so I watched it. I don't know you or your work, but this was jaw-dropping in its complexity. Your work is astonishing! Two people should be around to see this restoration: the woodworker who built the piece originally, and the person who used it in the shed. Bet both would be shocked and amazed!
That entire restoration is nothing short of astonishing. Wow Jay. You are so talented and I can’t even believe what you are capable of. And I love those cats. Thank you for the video. I love to watch you work. Carry on……❤️
I know, as a crafter, that sanding and scraping is our favorite! As a watcher, I love to watch someone else doing it. Seriously though, it is actually very satisfying to see the wood color and grain come out while I watch you sand and/or scrape. As always, this turned out to be a very beautiful piece.
Such an unusual piece of furniture. It certainly was a mess when you started, but it was just hiding a a beautiful buffet. Your description of the side pull outs as "thingys" totally cracked me up. Another great video of a meticulous restoration.
You must have a huge sense of accomplishment on a piece like this No matter how much work is involved, it has to be super satisfying to see what it became. A worthy addition to any home and the preservation of history for even more years of service to be enjoyed by even more generations. Bravo!
I think that it is a bar. The bottles would have gone in the slide outs on the sides. Beautiful job. Im the same way, I hate to throw anything away. Thats how I learned caning and rushing. People would just toss amazing chairs because they didn't know how to fix them. You on the other hand are a master. Love how organized your shop is.
Wow 😳 simply amazing! I would have never guessed that old beat up excuse for a piece of furniture would ever been able to look like that!!❤ extremely fantastic job!! Hi Jay well worth all your time and great effort that you put into this transformation, it looks lovely! Great to watch an artist and craftsman at his work 😁
This was nothing short of miraculous. When the teaser was posted I could not imagine any redemption for this piece other than its interesting features. I am shocked at the transformation.
After a rough day it was a lovely surprise to see you've posted another cracking video Jay. What a transformation!!! My grandmother had something like this around the late 60s early 70s. It just goes to show that the quality of a good piece of furniture never goes away. Despite what it may go through over the intervening years and even when it looks like it really should just be firewood someone like you comes along sees the beauty that these 'old bones' once had and cares enough to say 'no, now is not your time to go I'll make you shine for a little longer. I wish more people would see the beauty and potential in the older, the broken and the run down. In fact as I'm typing this I'm thinking that if society treated each other with as much care and respect as you did this sideboard how much nicer existence would be for us all. As I said it's been a crappy day so thanks for taking my mind off things for a while.
It's an education in furniture design to watch you expertly restore these and other pieces. Who would have guessed it had such an elegant design? Such a pleasure to watch your painstaking efforts reveal its craftsmanship.
Love watching you work. Your attention to detail is a joy to behold. I showed my husband the original a he said he wouldn’t even have bothered to burn it. Lol. He loved the finished piece. You are a truly dedicated artist. Another piece on to a wonderful second life.
What a neat cabinet. Almost like a speakeasy liquor cabinet as the vertical drawers in the sides are almost hidden. Beautiful job on the restoration. ❤
The revitalization work you do with these furniture is incredible. It was simply sensational, really beautiful. I follow your channel and learn a lot about restoration and especially patience to achieve good transformations. I really like your videos. A hug from Brazil, Pernambuco, Olinda!!!

I had to see how you brought it back to life after viewing what you started with. A very unique piece of furniture. I have never seen anything built like that. You made it look beautiful.
SSSSsssoooo much work poured into this!!! Mad respect!!! Incredibly satisfying on a lot of levels. 😂 Absolutely understand the necessary cat break. 🥰 Mind bloing final results!! 🤯 Totally restored the piece to next long use & appreciation!!!
Wow. It's just gorgeous. I'm always amazed at your work and how much effort you put into making the pieces you restore so nice. I don't always agree with your choices on stains/colors, but this one is spot on. The contrast is perfect.
Blown away!!👏 Not only by your attention to detail and knowledge of colors to use to highlight the buffet, Jay, but also, by how incredibly beautiful it became in the end!! Well done!!🎉
Are you sure that this item was largely constructed of MDF? MDF was first manufactured in Europe in 1973 and the style of this piece with its bulbous legs suggests that it far predates the ‘70s.
This piece is beautiful and thank you for restoring it to the original beauty. I watched someone work so long and hard on a piece. They stripped the paint, sanded it, and brought the rich beauty out in the wood. Only to repaint it the same color they just stripped off of it. That wood was screaming "HELP" in the end. You have a great day
The work you did was no less than miraculous! I absolutely love this piece of furniture! Thank you for bringing it back to its former glory, possibly even better! You truly never cease to amaze me!!!

Those legs (well not THOSE legs) appear on another piece he fixes. I swear I've seen them in at least one other video on his channel.
