    This reminds me of the tale of Octavius, a 3 masted schooner that transported goods between the UK and the Orient. In 1761 she made the trip during exceptionally mild conditions. So mild, that once loaded up again, the Capt decided to try the legendary NW Passage shortcut back to the N Atlantic. A decade passed with no sign of them, then a Whaler called the Herald spotted a derelict ship off Greenland in 1777. The crew were all still aboard, but completely frozen solid in their cabins. Their last entry in the ship's log positioned them off Alaska, 13 years previously.

    Gary, your fig tree was amazing! What a great harvest of figs. And did I spy a bay leaf tree by your house? This summer was so hot in Southern California that I had my garden under shade cloth for months and had a small harvest. Now that it is December, my peppers and tomatoes are still going crazy with fruit. Agree about the months shifting. I have seedlings ready for a winter garden that I hope to keep growing thru spring. The deciduous trees aren't losing their leaves. Nature knows that things are changing and as you said, people who work with the land see it too. Cheers for a fun video!

    I'm a climate change denier... Everything happens around the same time as it always has, within 4 weeks, either way. But I remember the mini ice coming when I was about 14, never came, the hole in the ozone layer, the sea level rises destroying cities, never happened. Being told we would experience more and more heatwaves, droughts, 10 feet snow drifts, long winters, plus all the new things, weather bombs, etc.... I call all this, winter or summer. But, I always keep an open mind, so who knows, with all the lies and disinformation, anything could be happening. I do smile when I think of the huge numbers of police battering people who protested about lockdowns a couple of years ago, who now make coffee for just stop oil idiots sitting on motorways!!! I have no idea what to believe.....

      Hello, what ever is happening there has been many records broke over the last 10 years, perhaps if we lived longer ( and i mean 1000 years old) we would recognise these cycles more that bring changes to the climate. But im enjoying the change, we never made so much solar electric payback cash this year ! . Ha ha don't get me started on the just stop oil idiots ! i think we should just stop oil, then i could watch them suffer when food production stops and the whole modern way of life collapses ! at the moment we still need oil ! yes i know ive stopped oil here, except for my oil lamps and chainsaw, but the electric car industry is a whole new environmental disaster with the mining to make the batteries ! and a lack of electric to power the movement, i feel that electric cars are the beta max of the video cassette world and impossible to electrify the whole country. I do like electric cars though as they are so so cheap to run, Also i have found out a little hack, im still able to get a free charge at Tesco even though others are now paying ! any way the freezing weather is nearly here. keep warm and safe and thanks for your comment, its always great to read others opinions, oh and also i watch a documentary about the heat wave and drought of 1976 on channel 5 on demand ! what a mess that was to nature ! i was 5 years old then but don't remember it as we was pre occupied with my mothers death that year. Thanks Bry take good care ( ive wrote a bloody essay ! )

      @@ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD Lovely essay too... I was 14 in 1976, with a permanently burnt nose and shoulders, just glorious. The records broken recently, are [I believe] made up, to push the fact climate whatever is 'real', so they can tax us even more. If the government and their 'scientists' say there is global warming, I am immediately sceptical!!! Take care, we had the first frost and ice today...imagine, winter in December, better phone the papers haha...

Daisy's in mammoths mouths, frozen within 3 days for perfect preserving, he talks about it all ! actually im quite obsessed with these natural earth cycles that bring changes to our climate. Hope your both keeping well, i feel now is the time to keep extra fit and healthy what with the hospitals going down the drain fast ! safe travels, take good care. ( google/RUclips "15 minute city's", oxford council could be the first to implement this scheme in 2024 ! if successful all main towns/cities could follow ! it could limit our freedom to travel in our vehicle's , all in the name of climate change ! )

    Hello Gary, Thank you for yet another entertaining and very informative video. I never realised that you had so much to think on when growing your own produce. Totally the opposite of modern farmer when you just plant seeds and use chemicals to get a good crop. Will climate change make you change the kind of food you grow in the future?

    • @ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD
      @ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD  Год назад +1

      Hello, yes a great question there Nathan ! yes ive noticed dryer weather in the past few years, so i now grow more sweet corn than ever as that always does well in hot dry weather, also ive noticed that dwarf French beans are also good for this, so i tend to plant more just to insure something does really well. All in all though its been one of the best growing years since i started, to the point where we have so much food that we have given the fostering a break as we are able to live of the land for a good few months. Yes your so right ! the modern farmers struggled, their soil round here was a dust bowl ! no structure or organic matter in site, just dosed up with synthetic fertilizers. The farmers round here are laying pipes now for irrigation just in case it happens again ! thanks so much, hope the new job is going well, thanks and take good care.

    Hi Gary. Thanks for another very informative video 😊 GOOD NEWS…. I’ve gotten an allotment 3 mins walk away from my home, some what over grown but with massive potential. Greenhouse and shed need replacing and a load of bramble to deal with. If you had to start from scratch, what you do?Thanks in advance.

    • @ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD
      @ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD  Год назад +2

      Hello, yes clear the land fast ! its going to be hard work. Goats could do the job for you if you could borrow some, but pen them in really well as they love escaping ! and make sure there is no ragwort or other poison weeds, they even munch though the brambles ! . pigs are even better ! ( ive used goats in the past for this) Any way clear the land and feed the soil in early spring with a bit of wood ash, compost, any animal manure and wood chip ,leaf fall, any organic matter really will help. Plant a couple of fruit trees first if some fruit is what you want as they take longer to mature. The weeds do come back but if you keep on top of it over the years the "weed seed population" in the soil will become less, making it less weeding and daunting in years to come. Sweet corn is always a winner as it can cope with hot dry weather. start off with the basics like tomatoes, runner beans, French beans, potatoes and onions, that sort of thing. Companion planting is very important for great success, also it can help with not using chemicals to control things, keeps cost down ! . I would also get the green house up and running before the spring ends. very important, but see if there is anyway to protect it from high winds for the future (very very sturdy fences or things that can block the south west winds). Put up some bird feeders as birds help with slugs and other unwanted pests, but keep those pigeons away ! plastic cups sunken level in the ground with cheap lager in also helps clear slugs and snails really well, i suspect these will be a problem to begin with as the land has overgrown. Collect as much rainwater from the greenhouse and shed as well. Ex food storage barrels are cheaper than purpose built water butts that you find in garden centres. These can be bought from Ebay, if your lucky they could be local to you. i could go on forever ! ha ha , thanks, take good care and good luck !

      Hello, yes there is no denying we are a small part, i should have mentioned the 1000s of square miles of rain forests being cut down and trees also in the UK cut over the last few hundreds of year, less trees, less moisture in the atmosphere, that's us changing the planets climate for sure, its not only a co2 problem that people keep banging on about to implement a huge carbon tax on people ! but yes a natural cycle is also causing the changes. 4 million years or so ago my house would have been next to the sea with hot tropical climate according to the geologists , but you can also see the evidence for your own eyes in a near by crag pit just 400 metres or so away from our house ! sharks teeth and all sorts of fossils for a tropical climate , amazing ! with not a human in site causing it ! I watch a good documentary last night on channel 5 on demand about the drought and heatwave of 1976, wow that brought back memories of the 70s ! but they did say it only got up to 36 oC i thought that was cool compared to this year ! thanks Dave take good care mate !
