Good stuff Billy.
Bill, I asked about running the valves and you answered! It is completely different than what I was picturing in my mind. Thank you very much. Love this stuff.
First time at your channel. Well done! I have been drag racing and building most of my own stuff for 50 years. This might be the first time I have seen someone actually show the complete, correct way to look at your valvetrain between races. Takes time, patience and not letting yourself be interrupted. Thanks!
Cheers Billy, a comment to help with the algorithms.
I've just been tasked with maintaining a sprintcar in the last year, this video was very helpful. I'll be calling you soon to order a valve spring tester. Thanks again!
Enjoy yourself...some of the best times in my life
Great video Billy! I'm not a great mechanic, so I found this very interesting! Thanks Billy!
Brings back memories when I used to crew on one back in the mid to late 90s. Pretty much the same routine we used.
billy's comment about it becoming easier to notice things the more you do it is so true. a lot of this stuff sounds complicated at first, and it can be, but like anything else it can be learned.
Very good explanation on what to look for inside an engine Billy. when checking the torque on push rods adjusters do you also the the torque in the rocker shaft bolts? Because I found a stud broken once it was still in the rocker shaft but when I checked the torque it was loose. Thanks
Hey Billy y’all racing at BAPS on nov. 11? Much love and respect 💯🤙🏼
Yes we are !!!
@@billydietrich man I hope I don’t get stuck at work, really wanna come n cheer you on in person! Good luck you guys! 🤙🏼💯
Thanks Billy that is great information !! Really Enjoyed this video !!
Thanks Billy for the video. Do you do anything on the injection side of the lines? We clean the ends on that side.
Most casual race fans have no idea the hours of maintenance there are on a car
Thank you for taking the time to show what I should be checking, I'm learning to wrench on the car now and not just drive , looking forward to learning more from you
Thank you Billy, for the wonderful education that you give us whenever you do these things! I enjoy watching them because you teach me things I never knew! Bless your heart. And thank you Heather for good videography!
A nother awesome video. Keep them coming.
I sure hope this is just a taste of things to come this winter. These How to Tech videos are as enjoyable as going to the track for me cuz I am learning. I do not have a sprint car & I find this fascinating & informative
Great informative video.
I was always a fanatic about using "anti seize" lube anywhere a steel threaded fitting entered an aluminum hole. I used it on spark plug threads and valve cover bolts especially since they are removed so often. Old Dan sounds a lot like my Dad with the "dirt is the death of an engine" lesson he impressed upon you. I used to say, "Dad, you guys ran open injectors with no filters!" This would usually result in the lifting of the middle finger of his right hand pointing in my direction. A common "end of conversation, just shut up" gesture amongst Dad's.
😂 ABSOLUTELY LOVE the pup
Nice a clean engine!!!!🫵👊
I remember when I was a kid and the Chevy 30 30 cam came out.... 30 on the intake AND exhaust. Now they have 0 0? I must be old! WillyB
I noticed you have the old style springs in the engine! The new springs are alot smaller in width....alot of room in the spring pockets! But day less mass..longer jevaty....faster RPM..were using them in the BBmods in NY
These are typical size for roller camshafts. Bmods typically use flat tappet cams and take a lot less spring pressure.
Lol, compared a sprint car engine to a crate😂🎉😅
Thanks Billy for wonderful Eudcattion. Check value every race ? Where get value spring tools? Oh one thing do you guys check engine compression test ?
That valve spring tool is fkn fancy cmon
😂 Absolutely love the puppy
Hi Heather 👋. A question for Billy his brother or dad. Have you guys ever tried asphalt racing with the sprint cars? Great videos.
Dewease looked like shit driving #12 @ WoO finals this weekend. Macri did too.
Will Bayston keep his CJB ride? I rather doubt it. Stewart was fired after a CJB 1 win season.
How long before NOS Energy realizes Haudenschild their #17 WoO car isn't the fastest NOS Energy winged sprint car? Courtney #7BC is! Windom hasn't won NOS Energy shit for 2 full seasons.
Do you have to keep the same nozzle in the same place every time,
How often do you change spark plugs also? Great video again! How are things with Nate’s family?
Possibly a question you can’t answer and more for your engine builder but here it goes. Why are you running link bar lifters in a $50,000 engine? I would think you would be running keyed lifters. Any reason you know offhand?
I’m a little surprised you didn’t leak the cylinders down. What your schedule for that?
My dad used nothing but Kendall oil in his street cars growin up
Doesn't the brake clean deteriorate the rubber o-rings on the injection nozzles?
I’m sure it does. So does the methanol fuel the car runs on too. These motors only get about 10-12 nights on them before they need refreshed. I imagine they get replaced at that point.
Great Channel ! Can you do a little instruction on the tire bleeder that I see you guys using. Your buddy Nate ( I think I got it right ). Get him a prostitute or maybe a shrink. He is playing with himself and other guys a little to much. Keep up the good work
Personally I dont prefill filters. If you pour the oil in the center hole it doesnt get filtered. To each is own though there are many ways to skin a cat.
Exhaust usually takes the heat...go bad faster!!
Hey if y'all come to Florida for speedweeks stop at the house in St Augustine. I live near n a dirt road I wanna tool ya car down the street. Lol
Noticed Billy's head would move when tightened up hoses for the injectors! Is that is self contained tourqing system?😂😂 Just kidding...thought was funny😂
Bolts to retain rocker covers? Never, a grub screw with a nyloc nut. Far less likely to back out and it retains the gasket as well. Those shaft rockers it seem are more trouble than a stud mount. Though an advantage ofcourse with off set valves etc.
The rest I agree 100%
What the hell do you have sleeping on your face?!
I always cleaned my nozzles..had a issue for weeks....changing pills .....never thought of cleaning the secondary.....was a hole new animal!!!!🇺🇸👊🫵
Good stuff Billy
😂 Absolutely love the puppy
