    Bill, I asked about running the valves and you answered! It is completely different than what I was picturing in my mind. Thank you very much. Love this stuff.

    First time at your channel. Well done! I have been drag racing and building most of my own stuff for 50 years. This might be the first time I have seen someone actually show the complete, correct way to look at your valvetrain between races. Takes time, patience and not letting yourself be interrupted. Thanks!

    Brings back memories when I used to crew on one back in the mid to late 90s. Pretty much the same routine we used.

    billy's comment about it becoming easier to notice things the more you do it is so true. a lot of this stuff sounds complicated at first, and it can be, but like anything else it can be learned.

    Very good explanation on what to look for inside an engine Billy. when checking the torque on push rods adjusters do you also the the torque in the rocker shaft bolts? Because I found a stud broken once it was still in the rocker shaft but when I checked the torque it was loose. Thanks

    I was always a fanatic about using "anti seize" lube anywhere a steel threaded fitting entered an aluminum hole. I used it on spark plug threads and valve cover bolts especially since they are removed so often. Old Dan sounds a lot like my Dad with the "dirt is the death of an engine" lesson he impressed upon you. I used to say, "Dad, you guys ran open injectors with no filters!" This would usually result in the lifting of the middle finger of his right hand pointing in my direction. A common "end of conversation, just shut up" gesture amongst Dad's.

    I noticed you have the old style springs in the engine! The new springs are alot smaller in width....alot of room in the spring pockets! But day less mass..longer jevaty....faster RPM..were using them in the BBmods in NY

    • @dougbuzzard8029
      @dougbuzzard8029 Год назад

      These are typical size for roller camshafts. Bmods typically use flat tappet cams and take a lot less spring pressure.

    Dewease looked like shit driving #12 @ WoO finals this weekend. Macri did too.
    Will Bayston keep his CJB ride? I rather doubt it. Stewart was fired after a CJB 1 win season.
    How long before NOS Energy realizes Haudenschild their #17 WoO car isn't the fastest NOS Energy winged sprint car? Courtney #7BC is! Windom hasn't won NOS Energy shit for 2 full seasons.

    Possibly a question you can’t answer and more for your engine builder but here it goes. Why are you running link bar lifters in a $50,000 engine? I would think you would be running keyed lifters. Any reason you know offhand?

    Doesn't the brake clean deteriorate the rubber o-rings on the injection nozzles?

    • @jayss10
      @jayss10 Год назад +1

      I’m sure it does. So does the methanol fuel the car runs on too. These motors only get about 10-12 nights on them before they need refreshed. I imagine they get replaced at that point.

    Personally I dont prefill filters. If you pour the oil in the center hole it doesnt get filtered. To each is own though there are many ways to skin a cat.

    Bolts to retain rocker covers? Never, a grub screw with a nyloc nut. Far less likely to back out and it retains the gasket as well. Those shaft rockers it seem are more trouble than a stud mount. Though an advantage ofcourse with off set valves etc.
    The rest I agree 100%
