Why Do Fighting Games Use This Sound? [The 3 Step Cycle]
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 июн 2024
- Fighting Game history is intrinsically tied to kung fu movies and anime. That much is obvious. But the cycle of inspiration has been turning for decades and it's time for the genre to evolve. I believe this sound to be the culmination of what makes a fighting game larger than life, and the story behind it is much simpler than it may seem.
What's next for fighting games? Only time will tell, but I think great things are in store for fans of Street Fighter, Tekken, and everything in between!

Are you ok?,,BUSTER WOLF!!
I love when some genius-ass video baits me with a very simple and mundane question and then profoundly summarizes the entire history and context of a genre and why it's important. real shit
That means a lot to me! I'm glad you enjoyed
😂💯
This was a good watch.
I've been playing FG's my whole life but I've never stood still to realise how much they've shaped me as a person.
In martial arts and self defense or MMA you can put more weight into your hits, kicks and punches when releasing air, either kya" yelling or just hissing helps with the ammount of newton's/joules of force also helping with the recovery time of energy spent.
That’s why boxing matches sound like hiss hiss hiss smack the whole time
Kya is the bunk kung-fu and karate teach, but there is no science behind it, just ki/chi superstition.
"Kiai"
Oh i don't know about fake. I know when i cuss up a storm while stiking something there is more damage
@RealLifeIronMan wouldn't say it's "bunk." As someone else pointed out, it is well known in boxing to exhale as you strike.
The kiai scream is exhaling. Now, you don't really have to scream at the top of your lungs like martial artists do, but a strong exhale does benefit your power and stamina while striking.
There no surprise that Jojo and fotns both got old fighting games based of their series
Really cool that Capcom who got inspiration from Jojo were the ones to be able to do it
That last frame was painful what were they thinking? hahaha
Great video, it gave me inspiration unironically.
It's one of the first instances I've seen of a movie doing the "Look! Here's The Thing!!". It's much more common now with all the reboots and remakes we see but it'll never not be cringe in my opinion lol
Great video. Just for information, the first time the ora ora was used in a fighting game was in kof97 with Ryo and Robert ryuuko rambu super special. And Kim had the kiai shout é during a special since his debut in Fatal Fury 2 SNK deserves way more credit than it actually gets
wait...you guys don't routinely make this sound in your daily life? I assumed this sound was common because it's the sound I make while opening a jar, standing up, or similar.
I do it going up the stairs
Really well put together.
Keep enjoying what you do!

@@qmanchu :D really great videol, btw
Man this was a great video! I knew there would be history involved, but you went above and beyond
Tetsuo Hara is the manga artist of Fist of the North Star, not an animator. Otherwise, good stuff.
Yeah I meant to say illustrator, not animator. Thanks for the correction!
great video as always
There's something about explaining 'Ora Ora Oras' as 2nd Impact Oro's BGM plays....
Awesome vidéo, i agree with everything i heard and couldn't have said it better myself, ad the images, vidéos/montage and stuff, it really is a great job you'v done here. I'm an old fart, grew up watching DBZ, Hokuto No Ken, Saint Seya and other anime of that period; i always knew all those links and loved em (and i still do) but you submarized all this in such a great way... Thank you verry much and keep that shit up! May the frame data be with you.
Great stuff! As always...
Thanks, glad you liked it! This was a bit of a passion project and I wasn't sure how my audience would react
great video; entertaining and informative

I wanna see more of your videos man, keep it up
There's lots more coming! I'm having a fantastic time making them!
Dope video. I was unaware of this channel until now.
I've only been making content like this since about December so it's new to me too lol. Glad you enjoyed!
Great video! It also makes me really happy that your channel theme is the character select music from Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2.❤️
That game has a special place in my heart and that song goes hard haha. Glad you liked the video
I was actually thinking about chains of creative inspiration recently - thanks for making a video on it!
Of course! It might be surprising but I've never been a creative person myself so this is all a very new venture
Love the vid and the SF3 music choices.
Bro, your clip selection and narrative style have made me an instant subscriber. Truly, truly awesome 👏
It can be intimidating to put myself out there with something like this but it's amazing to see people enjoying what I have to say!
banger vid well done
I hope, one day, ArcSys makes another Fist of the North Star fighting game (one that's not kusoge).
I love how you choose the muda who also voiced dio so it was authentic af lol
Maybe you should have mentioned Chun-Li and Edmond Honda’s moves from the original SF2, which are Hyakuretsu Kick and Hyakuretsu Harite in Japanese, a clear nod to Kenshiro’s Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken. Ono joined Capcom later. Also, I’d like to have seen Super Hokuto and JoJo from SNES/PS1 era.
Deceptively good video? Avgn meets gaming historian meets fighterpedia? Subscribed
Funnily enough I've heard of none of these channels(?), but I'm glad you enjoyed! There's lots more to come!

Good job 👍
He really used the coast freestyle
I will find any excuse I can to talk about Coast Contra, even as a Fighting Game channel lol
This video is just a discussion of the power of memes. No not the funny haha memes but those are included too. As some wise man once said memes are the DNA of the soul
Was not expecting that Coast Contra shout out 🔥🔥🔥🔥
They've quickly become my favorite group out right now
@@qmanchu same bro same! They are the true essence of hip-hop!
Them dudes are truly something different 🔥
I haven't played video games in years.
But you forgot WAaaaaatttaaa, Waatter and water by Lee and dude from Mortal kombat.
Also interesting you chose that rose vs chunli clip since the angle Chun Li's super is shot in, is a nod to her battle against Vega/Balrog in the Street Fighter animated movie pretty much. Similar to Cammy's level 2 super in SF6 (which we don't get to see much of in youtube bouts)
if they learned from each other there would be good net code
We started to see rollback talked about way more when they started the round tables! And SF6 had stellar net code in the betas! We might be on the cusp of something great!
@@qmanchu maybe i'll get to play someone that isnt in my area ! V: sf6 cants wait..i can tho
And now slowly but surely, fighting games are now getting rollback netcode. Almost every major fighting game will have an implementation on it and they're testing it out on older releases by releaseing rollback netcode updates.
What is the video on the right at 10:55?

Harada is so cool
Can someone tell me what game is that after dragon Ball fighterz at the 0:20 mark in the beginning of this video?
Great video. I definitely subscribed. But you didn't explain what the ora ora ora translates into
Is there a reason to explain what it translates to? It doesn't really translate, that's why characters with their English voices still say ora ora

RUSH ATTACK!
The First Ora Ora Ora i heard was a Super by Dan Hibibki in Street Fighter Alpha 2.
I knew this video was gonna be good when I saw Tiger Mask mentioned
I'm my head it was a sorta taunt, because in Spanish saying "ora ora ora!" Can mean something like "whoah!!" or "come on! "/"bring it on!"
Yakuza uses the ora ora ora
This video could use more attention although it’s not everyone’s favorite kinda topic 😊
Lol much appreciated

Was Virtua fighter and Dead or Alive that forgotten?
Not at all. I mentioned this in another comment but keeping these videos succinct means having to not talk about certain other things. I like to keep them under 15 minutes whenever I can and SF/Tekken have the most pull nowadays, making them the most relevant to this message. If the video were more focused on the history of fighting games itself, I'd prolly say more about VF

I have in fact not played a fighting game released in the last 10 years...
TLDR: fighting game recommendations
So normally I would ask this but seeing as this is a fighting game channel I’m hoping this will help me. so I ask what classic fighter are good for beginners on console. I might not be brand spanking new I hardly play classic fighters and to emphasize what I mean by classic fighters I mean street fighter, guilty gear and so on I only have ever played arena fighters my main was demon slayer cause it was relatively easy so the skill gap was stupid which made fun in a lot of fight aside from that I’ve only really played the ufc games and specifically fight night champions. The only “fighting game” I play rn and have been for a few years now is for honor and I’m getting bored of it again for like the 30th since it was released not that it’s hard it’s just not filling my high stakes fight meter it’s either spamming from a character with basically no counter or getting pimp slapped cause I missed a single input. Now Ik it’s similar with other fighting games but Ik most times it’s cause I’m a damn idiot. So I ask what games should look into
For classic fighters there's a ton of different experiences that you'd have to choose from. I actually recommend Fantasy Strike to newer players all the time. It's a great way to grasp the concepts of fighting games while still having fun without execution. From there, Dragon Ball Fighterz is a nice transition from arena fighters as well
@@qmanchu I’ll definitely look into those thanks
You can never go wrong with street fighter!
6 is coming soon and 5 is a great game, the pace is slower than games like guilty gear and dragon ball fighterz, tons of people at low ranks. If you have trouble with motion inputs try playing Ed or Falke
I’m gonna add to the nitpick squad: Street Fighter 2 has 7 differents style of characters you can pick from ( not 8) since Ryu and Ken are 98% the same character is that version. And what you describe with Tekken isn’t Tekken but Virtua Fighter since Tekken 1 has a Judoka that does everything but Judo ( Paul Phoenix), Karate with lightning, Terminator type Android and fighting bears…
Kim from KOF 15 had since sound for his special since forever.
Doriyaaaa!!! (in my Kazuya voice)
now make a video about "Ara Ara" XD
You might be on to something...
Kim Kapuha+n++++++++++++++++++++++++ sounds like+ h+imse+lf i+n Fatal Fury 2
Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya
Hokuto Shinken wa Muteki da!
Virtua fighter was pretty influential you know....
I do know! VF just doesn't have the same pull in the modern scene like Tekken and SF do. It's also harder to find relevant interviews for VF than the others. I'd love to mention every fighting game I can but then these videos would be twice as long as they already are. That said, I promise I'll scratch the itch for VF players sooner rather than later
VF's influence is even bigger than just fighting games. It has influenced Sonys decision to make the PS1 a 3D focused console. Blame Sega for neglecting their legendary franchise, as they have done with their other IPs too.
Well Noctis ORA...IS OP 😂😂😂
It's a battle cryyy, I feel everybody has heard "ora" and "muda" yall already know where it's frommmm
