Justin, you know... most vlog channels have content that is ok, you can take it or leave it, but your vlogs man... They have value. You learn. It's interesting. You're like a tour guide/ comedian / friend. Your presence is comforting. The extra effort you take to study and inform to make these videos entertaining really shows. Keep it up man, Have a fun safe trip.
Epic last shot! Amish women, horse, and buildings from different eras with cars! Like a combination of eras happening in one space, what you talked about earlier in the video :)
Very touching and beautiful expose of your family history. Darn those ducks spitting in your eyes!!! This is one of my favorite vlogs. We should never forget the hardships and hard work of those that helped shape our country. You have a lot to be proud of!!! God bless and cyber hugs sent your way.
Justin, as someone who's also really big into family histories, hearing and seeing your stories is beautiful. I appreciate getting a little glimpse into your family. Some people might not understand you grabbing bricks of those places, but they're more than just bricks, they're memories.
I loooove this video. Your description and history of Little Italy made my eyeballs leak, too. Your narrative is brilliant and now I feel as though I have met your industrious family. That arch? You'd never get me up in that thing. Carry on, Voyager.
Your BEST work Justin! It's good to see someone viscerally moved by their history. You're doing your part, bro. We are immortal as long as we are remembered. ;o)
man you remind me so much of me. I'm sort if the historian in my family as well. I love this kind if stuff. I get pumped over history....yah..I'm that type of netd, but hey.... Going to a museum is exciting for me, which must mean I'm easily amused! haha
Dude, Don't be ashamed to let it out every once in awhile, It's history. It's YOUR history! Sometimes history can be rather overwhelming especially when it is your own. I get that way many times at historic sites and/or when I think about some of the stuff some of my ancestors have done or places they have been and I think If things had happened differently, I might not be here today, it gets quite overwhelming! I thank you for all the time, the research, and respect for history you show in your videos. I think they (The videos) are great because you make them great, and you make them great because you love the work you do. You are Awesome, Dude!!! Always remember the end of the old Mickey Mouse Club Song. "M, . . I, . . C, . . K, . . E, . . Y. Why? Because We Love You! M, . . O, . . U, . . S, . . E." We all love what you're doing here. Keep up the Awesome job, Dude! No need to apologize. We love ya', my friend! Stay well!
Thanks for sharing some of your family's history! It's evident how proud you are and you should be. I think it's so cool that you picked out some remnants - I was seriously thinking as you were looking around, "You should pick something up before leaving." and I'm glad that you did! 😊 I bet your son will look back on your videos some day and get misty-eyed watching his Dad pay his respects to people he loved so much. Have a great rest of your trip, can't wait to see you and Tyler together again!
"They deserve to be remembered." You are so right. I lived in St Louis for about 5 years, and this video really touched me for that and my love of my ancestors. New subscriber!
Hey Justin, great vlog. Loved finding out more about your family's history and it's great to see that you are interested when most people probably arnt. Keep up the good work Justin.
This was really beautiful! Our families live in us and when you can tell their story with such detail and obvious love, you've certainly "done your duty". The buildings may be gone but you've found a lovely and relatable way to preserve them.
Great video Justin! I loved seeing you remember your ancestors! Not enough young people keep the past alive. Thank you for setting such a good example. Hopefully other young people see your vlogs and get interested in their ancestors and keep the history alive! My ancestors are from Italy also so it was awesome seeing you talk so loving about it.
I love your blogs, esp about St. Louis. My hometown and I really miss it. My German grandfather was a journey level tool and die maker during WWII and had great trouble getting work due to discrimination against Germans. Glad that is over with. Bless you Justin
Justin, this video is a triumph. I came to the vlog through an interest in St. Louis' architectural story -I didn't expect to have it brought to life with the bonus of a great family story. You have done your ancestors proud.
You are so fortunate to know so much of your families history! Thank you for taking the time to ask questions and talk to the older generation, so many younger people don't and history is lost.
Just crying watching this. Wow. I love family history, and I love history in general. I completely get being emotional about this. I love to find and cherish remnants of my past, and I can see why you'd love to motivate other relatives. I also drive through old neighborhoods and wonder what they were like in their heyday, who lived there, and how proud they must've been of their beautiful homes. It's heartbreaking to see things fall apart. So glad you were able to do this. :)
I found this whole vlog to be absolutely fascinating. The city of St. Louis has always been my second home, and I love any history I can find out about it. So cool. Thank you for filming this.
Justin, never be sorry for sharing with us. It was a wonderful video and touching knowing how much this means to you. Not many would share so openly and unselfishly their family history. Please keep up the great work and stay safe on the trip.
It was so touching how you shared your family history with such respect. It becomes more evident with each of your videos I watch that you have an amazing heart. Please make sure to pass your family history down to your son so it will be known for many generations to come.
That's really nice what you are doing justin. Documenting history is not only touching but so important to keeping you grounded. Times and places where your ancestors have been and looking forward to what could possibly be a future that you one day share with your child. I wish I could have documented those stories from my grandmother before she passed away. She was 98 in a small town in Puerto Rico. Keep up the good work and don't be ashamed to let the emotions flow there's a lot to take in, and I thank you for sharing that with me. Fan for life.
Just found your channel and I loved you sharing your family history! I know exactly how you feel. I have things that mean so much to me because they belonged to different members of my family. No one else is interested like I am and I asked my son who is going to care about them when I'm gone.
As much as I love all your videos... This is by far my favorite.. To share your history with us and your true emotions coming through is beautiful.. Thank you for being you..
WOW, Saint Louis roots, love love love this video, please come back & TAKE-IN the City Museum .. ps the bricks make AWESOME book-ends, my son has some from Harry S.Truman's boyhood home !
Fascinating video! Thankyou for taking us along on your family's historic journey. I can feel your pride see the past through your minds eye, and hear the emotion and respect in your every phrase. Your family should be very grateful to have you as their personal historian.
I have to add, I really enjoy the endings of these vids recently when you set the camera down still and its silent. Not saying I am tired of hearing you talk, but it gives a moment of peace and feeling of "im there". A moment to look around at the scenery and get a sense of being there too. Really cool.
I really appreciate this video. Thank you. It really is so great how much you care and are invested in your family history. Your grandfather absolutely knows you were there. And I am more than sure he is proud of you and grateful to you .
Great job on this one Justin. Honoring your family's memory is a fine thing to do. You may not know that the area where the arch was constructed was a very dense section of the city with buildings, homes and businesses. They were all bulldozed to make room for what would eventually be the park and the arch.
Thanks for sharing about your family. I actually enjoyed it! Made me think about my grandparents and how they arrived from Japan in the early 1900's and settled in Idaho.
Awesome video. I'm so glad you shared your family history with us! And super glad you grabbed tangible pieces of your history. Something you can pass on to your little man! Stay safe!
This was an awesome vlog!!! You're like a walking encyclopedia, remember them. It's so cool you know so much history about your family. Thanks for sharing it with us!!
This is very touching in almost all the ways possible. You and your family's history and how I used to live an hour away from St. Louis and by pass all of this almost all the time. Now if I ever go back and have time, I have to stop and respect you and the family history.
Really cool, man. It's always a good day when you get to see things from your family's past before it's gone. When my great-grandparents crossed the big pond, they ended up in West Virginia and Wisconsin. I try to visit their old stomping grounds and homesteads from way back then as much as possible, and as with yours, with every visit the course of time causes it to either change or totally vanish. So, you gotta keep the story alive.
Amazing vlog! Being a family historian, I know just how you felt about your family history. Love it that you took the bricks for remembrance. Very touching. I live fairly near the sites you visited. Thank you for sharing!
Justin, this is AWESOME! I love that you're the family historian. I love listening to your stories and seeing all your personal historic locations. My family is from the Philippines and I'm sad that I don't know much about my family's history (mostly due to unspoken family drama...boo). So this is so great to be along for the ride with you!
This was an amazing vlog Justin. I love that you shared your family history. It's great that you took the time to learn about it and share it with us. I wish my grandfather was more forthcoming with our family history before he passed. There were a lot of "family secrets" that he didn't want anyone to know. It makes me sad now that he's gone, that I will never really know much about his life.
St.Louis resident very glad to learn your family's history did a great job presenting it. I just wish I knew you were coming to town would have been great to meet you in person
This video just sparked something in me that weighs heavy with regret having just lost my grandma who was my last living grandparent. I must now learn my family’s historic whereabouts!
Thank you for sharing you family history with us, we got to know you a little bit better (all respect & honor). You are an amazing person and we know that you come frome an amazing family! I have family on my Father's side in Ohio that I have never met, and I don't think even know about me. I have always wanted to do what you have done here, but time & money I never have had. My biological Father never wanted anything to do with me from the time I was 9 mo's. old. He did call me 2 times & I was too young the first time to ask the right questions & too poor the second time to go see him. He passed in 2004. Great episode, Justin, God bless you! 🌼
I went to Saint Louis in the mid 90's and walking around downtown we saw a lot of demolition. One of the buildings used to be a theater and you could still see the proscenium arch in the rubble. It was weird and haunting. I've tried to look up on the net to see what theater it was but didn't get very far.
Awesome...again. you have some of the best vids. I'm not even related and I was getting choked up. You need to save this and when your boy gets older you can pass down his family history to him. Great job and excellent editing too. Laughed when you were doing pull ups on the arch lol. Just some superfulous info...I used to pass through there on my hitchhiking trips to LA and saw them building the arch. I was about 14-17 and hitchhiked from Chicago to LA in the summer when school got out then back again in time for school. Lots of great memories of those days. Thanks for sharing your life with us. :)
You and Adam have quickly become my favorite haunts on RUclips but with this video all I can say is that I've gained MAD RESPECT for you. Like the truckers used to say, "All the Flowers you can handle!"
Thanks for sharing this with us Justin! I have heard many many stories from that area of StL from relatives of some of the people from there & many stories about the hill from the late Joe Garagiola who grew up on the hill back in the era of your grandparents and became a major baseball player & announcer for StL! I have also seen some documentaries on that area of the church you showed in this video! Your ancestors story is a very great one as the Italians also ran & owned many businesses in northern Illinois were I was raised and grew up! I was up in the arch in the 70's and found it a little uncomfortable as I don't do well with heights either! This is one of your best vlogs you have ever done ,because it shows the real Justin Scarred! Take care & safe traveling!
Absolutely loved this one!! Did you send those ducks over to spit in my eyes too?? Lol. I loved hearing about your family from Sicily. My family, the Aiellos and my husbands family the Aliotti's (or Alioto's-the name got changed at Ellis island) were from Isola delle Femmine. Joe DiMaggio's family is from there too! Our families came to settle down eventually in Pittsburg, CA and become Fishermen. My husbands family owns Alioto's at Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco.
Before you did it, I immediately thought "He should pick up a brick for nostalgic purposes!" and you did... for multiple locations! That's awesome Justin!!
Shidam! I totally agree
Seriously, this is my favourite video you have ever done. I'm glad you shared the stories about your family. So amazing your so passionate

What a fascinating story. You have great talents youngin. You need a larger media outlet so many can enjoy your fascinating World of Justin.
Justin, as someone who's also really big into family histories, hearing and seeing your stories is beautiful. I appreciate getting a little glimpse into your family. Some people might not understand you grabbing bricks of those places, but they're more than just bricks, they're memories.
Aw Justin, big comforting hugs bro. You keep that history alive for your son......

Love it and appreciate your love for your family history. Not enough people are interested in where they come from
I love that TV show on TLC "Who do you think you are", and this video is like an episode of that. Super interesting!
Your BEST work Justin! It's good to see someone viscerally moved by their history. You're doing your part, bro. We are immortal as long as we are remembered. ;o)
I hope you are writing down all this family history for London. I believe ancestry is the greatest thing to pass on.
man

Thanks for sharing, Justin. You're reverence for your family is very touching.
Justin, You made me cry when you started tearing up. I wanted to give you a hug through the computer monitor.
This is really cool to learn about your family.
Such a great vlog Justin. It's nice to you know you are tracing the steps of your family and preserving the rich history. So glad you got some bricks.

I'm the same person in my family. Love the history and how heart felt this vlog was. so glad you got a few pieces of the past to take back.
Like always, an awesome video! Glad you stopped to let us see some family history.

This is definitely one of my favorites. Your passion is so moving. I wish I knew even half as much about my family history as you do.
I have to add, I really enjoy the endings of these vids recently when you set the camera down still and its silent. Not saying I am tired of hearing you talk, but it gives a moment of peace and feeling of "im there". A moment to look around at the scenery and get a sense of being there too. Really cool.
Hey Buddy Loved It. My Dad and I used to go to all the old Historic places our Family beginnings sprouted from.Just(in)Awesome!

Great video, Justin! My great grandfather was an immigrant, and my grandfather was born in 1915, as well. History rules! Keep up the great work!!!!!

Fantastic video Justin. My family has also been here since the mid-1600's. Really missing my grandparents just about now.

This is one of my favorite videos Justin has done! Thanks man!
This video just sparked something in me that weighs heavy with regret having just lost my grandma who was my last living grandparent. I must now learn my family’s historic whereabouts!

My eyes are sweating with respect, that was incredible. Thanks Justin.
Very well done Justine. Love the family history.
I went to Saint Louis in the mid 90's and walking around downtown we saw a lot of demolition. One of the buildings used to be a theater and you could still see the proscenium arch in the rubble. It was weird and haunting. I've tried to look up on the net to see what theater it was but didn't get very far.
I loved this vlog! Very very interesting. Thank you for sharing your family roots with us!
Thank you Justin for sharing your family history. Family is not just present, it is the past too.
Thanks for sharing your family history!! This is one of the BEST video's I've ever seen!!!
