+Howard Wiggins We'll see if you still think that after the next video where I literally am going to a vacant lot ... albeit one with a lot of history and meaning for me
My grandmother used to live on Driftway Drive which was located on the other side of the fence (the place you talk about bodies being dumped in the pauper's grave). An entire neighborhood existed on the other side of the fence before they moved all of the houses to build the new bridge across the Mississippi.
I have never had a you tube channel that truly kept me entertained and smiling the entire time!! You are a gem!! How in the world do u not have a million or more subs?? I found u by playlist.. I have been missing out!! Subbed and now on to a marathon! I grew up in Rolla and didn't appreciate this history as a kid, but as I got older I love it!! Tom Sawyer was my fav book for decades.. Still one of them.. Ty so much for all the hard work and fun u put into ur content!! 🤗
Justin, you must have a photographic memory… Better than any tour guide I've ever had… And you're very entertaining while being education all at the same time. Love ALL your posts, but REALLY love the Route 66 stuff 😘 Can't thank you enough for the series 🙏🏼🖖🏼
l don't understand the 7 dislikes. Justin did a lot of research and reading to give us a history of all the places he has visited on this road trip. He deserves more appreciation. Plus he made it a "FUN ONE".
I AGREE !!! I LIKE JUSTIN A BUNCH HE ALWAYS KEEPS HIS VLOGS FUN AND INTERESTING AND IMFORMATIVE GODS BLESS JUSTIN SCARRED HE IS LIKE A YOUNGER AND MORE PUMPT UP VERSION OF HIS FRIEND ADAM THE WOO ! I LIKE THEM BOTH !!! EQUALLY !!!
Justin, got a pretty interesting story about that cemetery. I was in Hannibal for the steampunk festival last year, and went on the haunted ghost tour. Because of the festival, they were running the tour later than usual (around 10:00 I think). Well, the cemetery has a sign posted at the entrance: closes at 10:00. I figured they likely had permission to be there that late. Our group was pretty large, and the dowsing rods were passed out. I didn't bother with them, but walked around with my friend looking at all the graves. I was approached by a man not with our group. He said he was visiting his grandfather in one of the adjoining houses. He said the cemetery is closed. His grandfather is inside fuming because HIS grandfather is buried in that cemetery. He was ready to come out with his shotgun. I directed him to speak with the tour guide and went back to the bus. I wish the tour was a little more history and a bit less focused on the dowsing rods, but Hannibal is an awesome place. Thanks so much for your vlogs!
Now I'm homesick. I grew up in the neighborhood just outside the cemetery. I also carved my initials inside the light house. Thanks for bringing back lots of memories. It was a great place to grow up.
Even though these are the longest vlogs you've done, they're so addictive! It's really fascinating to see these snippets of small-town America, places I'm unlikely to ever get to. 👍🏻
So many one-liner's in your videos, you are hilarious! I don't normally watch vlogs twice but, I had to. I've gotta say, the graveyard visits were really interesting. That being said, I could never live next to or on top of a cemetery. Happy travels!
I commented on the first Hannibal visit video a few years ago on the livefastdiepoor channel, but watching this was crazy for me because I've lived in Hannibal for almost my whole life and I didn't know about most of the stuff in this video! I know of a few things left in town that you haven't covered that I think are pretty interesting, but its nice to know there's still stuff to learn!
Yikes! The neighborhood where the old cemetery used to be is so similar to my own! Makes me wonder what my 1922 house is built on....as I sit here and watch this vlog.... in the dark..... in the middle of the night... :)
I have really liked your videos from Hannibal, they are so informative. I really admire the research you put into the history of Hannibal before your visit. Not everybody had that kind of tenacity. You have given us an entertaining history lesson...thanks for that. I got such a shock when I moved to Denmark and discovered that when a person dies most families still keep the body at home for viewing until the funeral. My neighbor passes away last year and they kept his body in the living room facing the front of the house and did not close the curtains for the first two days because he loved to look out the window. I tried to avoid looking at their house , but was peeking all the time (I couldn't help it). I had to constantly remind myself he was a really sweet, funny guy jsut because it was so freaky to me. It would be nice if one day a benefactor would sponsor you to travel around and make more 'videos on the history of various places because honestly you have the perfect combination of the ability to teach and an off-hand 'gift of gab' (meant in a very good way) that kids and adults can both enjoy. Heck, if I didn't have to live paycheck to paycheck I would give you the money myself.
Hannibal reminds me a bit of Gettysburg, PA. except there's no battlefield and it's a lot less crowded! Also in that museum you went to there was a poster with Edger Allan Poe on it! Even in the middle of Twain-virce there's Poe!
Loved the history..the cemetery was amazing ..glad you took time to look around and very respectful of the people who are buried there ..I really enjoyed that
ah, I love these vlogs, there my favorites. Are honestly the best! I always love to watch them at night to calm down my anxiety and get some stuff off of my mind. Thanks Justin, and keep up the work! ✨
I used to live in one of the houses next to the old cemetery. I never knew about all of the houses being built on top of the other old cemetery. Very cool video!
Really enjoy your videos Justin! Very well done. I just happened to hear about Hanibal recently and in an odd coincidence you already came here and gave an aweome tour to introduce me to this city and nearby Marceline.
To answer your question... Would I live next to a graveyard? In the 60's, to get to a friends house at night, I either had to either walk 1/2 mile down to another street, then after getting around the block 1/2 mile back to an area straight through, or I could walk through a graveyard (that was said to be haunted), I walked through it many times at night, alone.
Justin, your videos are entertaining and informative. Being a Californian (SoCal) born and raised, I have not been traveling around our great country. But I love your SoCal videos as well. There are things you have taught me about home. I used to love watching Huell Howser and California's Gold. I never thought there was anyone who could entertain and educate like Huell did...until I found your channel. Keep it up. You are great at what you do!
Justin, this is one of the most entertaining, informative videos that I have seen on RUclips 👑 You did your homework and presented historical facts in a way that holds people's interest 😨 Keep up the great work and great things will eventually come to you 💰
I started watching your videos because you were really good at telling the history of stuff. I also like your daily adventures and Disneyland vlogs, but I knew if I kept watching ... you would put out more great history shows like this one. Oh yeah, When you get back... More George please.
That is my hometown I own two of those big houses and me and my whole family runs those stairs a ton and if you keep walking back down that walk way down there by the light house and one of those are mine but we own one of the old houses for fun and sometimes staying the night.
my family originated in a small town in Texas called bracketville, the cemetary has 5 sections. the two front lots containing 30 plots each or a bit more, and the same for the back two, then the 5th lot.... all the unknown individuals found dead in the town who we're never identified, their graves are literally a wood box above ground with dirt piled on top. my family takes up the whole first plot on the right side, all 48 members...
I live in Hannibal and am always ready to talk about these kinds of things. I have conducted extensive research and could provide you with some interesting information.
I love your video's there so up lifting and so cool , keep up the good work it shows that you did your research well , for me who lives in Montreal,Quebec,Canada its very cool to listen to this history. Good job there Justin.. :) .......gonna go check your other video's now cya....
I think they were called "The fighting 54th Mass." But please don't quote me on that. Its late and I could be incorrect. This is a great vlog! Hope your having fun! Also, I met Adamthewoo yesterday. I purchased the "Bicyclebuiltforwoo" from him. Very nice guy.
I know his is a old video but behind my house is Robinson cemetery. At the very back of it it starts trails that lead to one called pirates ridge. You’d have to either go with someone that’s been there or just follow the trails and hope you find the cliff. It’s about 3 quarters tall of the lovers leap. It’s behind bushes on the trail and you can see almost all of Hannibal. No guidelines or fences like lovers leap
Oh wow! This video was like a punch in the gut for me--I'm from Hannibal, clicked on it because I'm really missing my hometown right now, I don't think I've ever seen anyone who knows so much local history! The Old City Cemetery is particularly sad... nobody here knows about it. I've tried to tell as many people as I can about these forgotten souls, but the city of Hannibal still isn't ready to confront that part of its past. The town has changed so much even since this video, watching it was surreal because I remember the places here. My friends and I used to take pictures outside of the armless baseball cap boy--he's no longer there-- and unfortunately Mrs. Clemens' is now a candy store... it's sad, the place was often closed so I didn't get to visit it as much as I would have liked, but at least you recorded a video of it before it was gone for good. Thank you so much for recording my town's history and telling people about the little known facts from here, it brought me closer when I can't be there in person! P.S., you should check out the old town of Ilasco just down the road from the Mark Twain Cave or Screaming Johnny's next time you come through, I know you would appreciate it. :)
Did Disneyland's Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer's Island make you interested in Mark Twain or was that something you had appreciated from school/reading first? There are a lot of things we take for granted now, and I know it wasn't all rosy for everyone back then, but it would be so interesting to be able to go back and experience that time in history!
The 55th Massachusetts volunteer infantry was the sister unit to the 54th Massachusetts lead by Robert Gould Shaw that was featured in the film Glory. Both were colored regiments, but it was the 54th that perished at Fort Wagner.
As usual, great Job. I always look forward to your videos; I do have a question however do you memorize your commentary completely or do you use Q card to help remember you’re talking points while on camera?
I would be creepily comfort living in one of those graveyard perches. Particularly one that resembles a Charles Addams structure. I was concerned you might trip on your shoelaces while ascending the many stairs. WHEW! See you soon. c.
This is the most amazing informative historical video. Thank you so much for your tour of Hannibal. I was in Missouri and still living here but I drove by this city without a thought. Yes bucket list item
Justin I just wanted to say I've thoroughly enjoyed all these road trip videos and I think you should become a tour guide!! Or just show me around places!!
Justin's videos are better than anything on TV. Informative and completely entertaining. He can make a vacant lot fascinating.

probable the man who yelled at him at the street build on the graveyard and his family that disliked ;)

WaterLily, I don't understand either, Justin does great with his videos.
After watching this video, learning has occurred. You have a unique way of making history fun. Enjoy your trip and stay safe.

I've lived in Hannibal all my life, over 70 years, I really enjoyed this video.
I'm from and live right downtown in Hannibal and I learned a lot that even I didn't know from this video.
i always enjoyed these types of videos. they are always have lots of information and history. i appreciate the time and affect you put into these.
Now I'm homesick. I grew up in the neighborhood just outside the cemetery. I also carved my initials inside the light house. Thanks for bringing back lots of memories. It was a great place to grow up.

Just to clarify, Glory was about The 54th Massachusetts Black Infantry! Give them hell 54! Great Movie!!! And Great video Justin!

Lacey White we come there often also being from Farmington . it's kinda cool
A duck swimming along the Ol' Mississippi at the end of the video. An interesting look at the creepy side of Twain Town.

We grew up in a house on the big hill of old graves (6th & Rock Street area) and I could tell you a lot of paranormal occurrences inside our house.
Hannibal reminds me a bit of Gettysburg, PA. except there's no battlefield and it's a lot less crowded! Also in that museum you went to there was a poster with Edger Allan Poe on it! Even in the middle of Twain-virce there's Poe!
I'm learning & absorbing more information from you and your travels than I did in school, lol! Again... you are awesome!!!

Your blogs are just so captivating, they are the highlight of my day.
Our historical society in Hannibal (Friends of Historic Hannibal, FOHH) has its yearly picnic in that cemetery - the Old Baptist Cemetery.
Really enjoy your videos Justin! Very well done. I just happened to hear about Hanibal recently and in an odd coincidence you already came here and gave an aweome tour to introduce me to this city and nearby Marceline.

This was awesome Justin
Awesome video Justin. Just purchased Tom Sawyer as I've never read Mark Twain before. Thanks for the inspiration.
+Always13 I have never read it either...definitely going to now

going to a graveyard makes you think that I could be there someday and maybe 100 years later when everyone I know is gone no one would visit.
4:45 The street is perfectly in line with the the sidewalk and looks almost continuous!
Justin, this is one of the most entertaining, informative videos that I have seen on RUclips 👑 You did your homework and presented historical facts in a way that holds people's interest 😨 Keep up the great work and great things will eventually come to you 💰
I’m from Hannibal and I enjoyed this video. And at the cemetery if you look there is a stone that says slave that’s all it says
I love all the research that you did . Very refreshing great video.. Thank you.

Great to see the first statue ever made!
Very very good video !! Thank u ❤️😊
Great video and excelling editing. Filming the footage with one camera by yourself requires so much work, very well done.
cheeseman park in Denver was built on a cemetery, botanical gardens and governors park and mansion are all on the cemetery
this was so fascinating! thanks, Justin
I live in Hannibal and am always ready to talk about these kinds of things. I have conducted extensive research and could provide you with some interesting information.
Hannibal is my kind of town. I need to go check it out.

How do you make things I don't care about Entertaining ? Your magic !!!
What a pleasant town with nice clean wide streets. I would like to visit but I will skip the dead baby store.
I just finished reading Gone Girl and Hannibal, Missouri features prominently in it. But they never mentioned any of this.
nice! now through you and your camera I have seen a cool town!
Just think he also walked up some steps, put down his camera to film, walked down the steps, then filmed himself walking back up. DEDICATION
8:42 I freaking lost it lmao. Too funny
That was excellent thanks Justin ❤️💜💛
You are doing good things, Mr. Justin.

These videos are perfect! I love documentaries and you're doing an awesome job informing, entertaining, and providing visuals.
I live it Missouri and it's so fun there

I like that cemetery, even if the past says it's a pauper's cemetery. It's very pretty.
I just got back from Hannibal, it was awesome.
The Mississippi River monster seen at timestamp 37:06.
Love your video! So funny!
Another awesome and fascinating video, Justin. Great stuff.

Justin I just wanted to say I've thoroughly enjoyed all these road trip videos and I think you should become a tour guide!! Or just show me around places!!

Your videos are amazing! I can watch them for hours.

Trying walking up to Coit Tower in San Francisco!
Yaaaaay finallyyyy .... Jk hopefully you got some rest buddy .... These vlogs are great
An interesting note as well, Hannibal was the home town of Col Potter from M*A*S*H.
I have lived in Hannibal all my life. Glad u enjoyed
36:50 Is that an actual steamboat or a motorboat dressed as a steamboat?
+Holobrine Yeah, I noticed the paddlewheel wasn't moving, so I assume it's a motorboat. But it's a pretty replica.
