That aircraft you saw was an Air Force V-22 Osprey. It's a VTOL aircraft, which means it can take off like a helicopter and then continue flight like a plane. Had a Troubled development but they are pretty cool aircraft. I got to see one in person when I was in the service.

    GREAT JOB, as always, Justin!
Just one minor point - The name of the gas station in Shamrock, TX is pronounced "KAWN-o-KOE". It stood for "Continental Oil Company". It is now merged with Phillips 66 (Coincidence? I think not!), and is now called "Conoco/Phillips".

A good suggestion on that trip, keep your tank topped off every chance you get... I mean before leaving town and try to track an online map of rt. 66 gas stations so you don't run out in the middle of corn fields or the desert somewhere. You would be a great ideas guy for rt. 66 amusement business development, just don't let them talk you into investing your own money! :)
