That crowds giving me “Red performing Death of Me at the 2010 Dove Awards” vibes

Yeah they showed Crowder and like two other people in the crowd enjoying that performance, everyone else was like 😐 I watched the entire show on RUclips and it was definitely my favorite performance of the whole thing! More off-the-wall collaborations like that should be welcome at the Dove Awards!

No Treaty did a great job keeping things fresh throughout the song. Even with repeating parts, they threw at least a little something out to keep you guessing. Good on them!
Floodgate's song was TIGHT and Zach did a great job on those cleans. He did great on the screams too but cleans are more difficult. Good on them on the songwriting almost essentially turning the bridge into a new chorus to end the song out with. A good break from the tried and true formula.
"Heavy" is a relative term when it comes to Skillet, especially when we're talking about a song performed at the Dove awards; it can't deviate too much from what normies like. The breakdown in the bridge was nice. That's all I'm gonna say about that 😂
Great video, man! God bless you!

1st of all, looking forward to the new studio full reveal. 2nd, thank you for introducing me to No Treaty. 3rd that Skillet/ Tauren Wells song is awesome! As far as the Dove Awards audience reception goes… I honestly don’t care lol Those people are there to see the K Love artists. Back when Stryper performed on the Doves, it was the same thing. Michael Sweet said the audience was cold and they were encouraged by other artists back stage after their performance. Artists like Sandy Patty and Michael W Smith. Rock and Metal have traditionally swimming against “the man.” K Love and CCM is “The Man.” Just my opinion. Love your content man

Great metal tracks. As to thoughts on Dove Awards, I've never watched them, but I do believe there is a general stigma surrounding metal and Christianity as a whole. I had a personal experience with criticism toward my choice of music. A number of years back, someone found out I like Dead Poetic and confronted me with the stereotypical response that "rock doesn't belong in the Christian world." Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like some industry folks are opposed to the idea because of narrow-mindedness... like there's no conceivable way a Christian should want to create music in that genre. Have to mention here that I also had a pastor confront me about a track I was sharing with some members while I was still attending, and, admittedly, the reaction played a part in my decision to quit attending. Haven't been back, and I may never return to any church.

That's unfortunate that you've experienced such vitriol over music you enjoy. I do wish you luck in finding other believers who also enjoy the music you do(or at least don't dismiss your taste as 'satanic', like I've been blessed to have). If anything, just start your own home church, just like the early days, especially because as Paul writes "Do not forsake gathering yourselves together as some have." Either way, I'll pray that you keep the faith and keep your eyes on Jesus, as He is our Shepherd and the only one who really matters.

I hate that attitude about rock and metal. Those people, including that pastor, are wrong; there's nothing wrong with rock and metal being a part of it. I love rock and metal and consider myself a metalhead, but I'm also definitely a Jesus follower. Skillet is my favorite band, as is probably obvious from my picture and handle.

I like your comments about metal and the dove awards. I appreciate they're introducing it into the show slowly and props to tauren wells for helping. While that performance lacked the authentic nature of metal I think that's why it seemed cringe

I think the dove awards will never have a super heavy band like impending doom or war of ages perform cause most people, like you said, are fans of Toby Mac, for long and country, pop type music and worship artists etc the fact that the skillet singer got to perform with a guitar and actual rock music was nice. It’s about as close as we will get. Red went heavy but I feel like ccm has taken over any rock that was once played more frequently on Christian radio. You have to find a metal station to hear war of ages or even disciple. I think it would be great to go back to when punk type bands were dominating the Christian market. This allowed heavier bands to trickle in and Christian metal and rock was a thing for several years. I just think once edm and pop got more popular in the late 2000s. 2012. I guess 2010s, the Christian market followed suit and it just hasn’t been the same since. Hopefully it will change 🙏

Technically, the reaction at the Dove Awards might have been more do to with the audience having more self control than usual compared to if they were doing this at some kind of rock fest. Most probably liked it, but decided not to go off the walls while listening to it.

Love that Copper collab. Gives me goosebumps. But yes metal/ rock is the outcasts at the dove awards. Zero respect. Give me Christian metal over the average Christian artist.

I didn't see the collab coming, but I'm still uber excited about it. I don't watch the Dove Awards, though. Christian rock and metal is phenomenal.

Dove Awards do not know Metal , Skillet is just hard rock.

Skillet goes pretty doggone hard; it depends on the song. Christian rock and metal is amazing, but yeah, the Dove Awards will never go there.
