    I give my toy poodle a true bath…fill up the bathtub till his tummy with nice warm water…play with him for a while (he does love to play with his rubber ducky) he learned how to swim that way as well) take my time shampooing him ; then softly with a small container rinse him and play with him for a while-I then drain the bathtub; rinse him slowly; then apply conditioner to him and rinse again; all done,,rap him up in a warm towel and lift him out of the bathtub..hold him for a while and then on my heated bathroom floor lay a towel so he can shake and rub himself on the floor-he loves doing it and gets frisky and playful-I let him play for a while and the start grooming him in slow stages.
    He loves his bath-time and gets excited when he hears the bathtub water running.

    What time do i need to take them a bath? Morning?

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  6 лет назад +3

      You can bath your dog at any time but should be dry before bedtime. If you blowdry him, anytime is fine. If you allow your dog to air dry than in the morning is best to bath your dog.

    Do you use different shampoos based on the poodle's coat color?
    For example white coat vs red coat.

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  6 лет назад +1

      Hi, my shampoo has conditioner in it already. I do have a spray conditioner that I use if necessary.
      You can use conditioner if necessary but use a light one as it can drag down the coat and make the coat hard to clip and scissor.

    How many times or when do i need to bathe a poodle? Everyday? Or after the week, after 2 days,3,4

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  6 лет назад +1

      Hi, every two weeks is fine or weekly as most show dogs are washed weekly as long as you use the correct dog shampoo it should be fine. The majority of my clients come for a hair cut monthly and get a wash and blow dry between so every two weeks they get bathed. You don't need to wash every day. If you need to wash frequently then every week is okay as I have bathed poodles weekly.

    I have to brush my poodle throughly before I can bathe him. His fur is so fine that it mattes easily. My boy HATES it when I give him a bath or even brush him. Tips???

      I got my toy poodle puppy used to being bathed by getting in the tub with her. That way shes not the only one in this deep scary slippery white thing. I also got a super dry towel on amazon. Sooo worth it. I should buy another. It sucks up a lot of water off the fur. Shes almost dry after a bath. She doesnt mind baths now. She hates feeling cold/wet after the bath, even tho its warm in bathroom. I also use another towel after the super towel. Put towel on bath mat and curl her up on it and give a nice chewy toy and put her on the towel. Rinse out tub and take a bath. She gets a reward and all the way driy and I get to relax after. She then takes a nap. Shes dry when we leave the bathroom.

    Do you worry about getting water in a poodles ears? A vet told me to be careful with poodles because the hair is curly and it can cause yeast infections. Their ears are such a challenge. Have you had any issues?

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  5 лет назад +3

      Hi, I rarely get water in their ears but if I do the dog will shake it's head to get it out and then I dry it with a cotton ball. Also if I am going to pluck the ears, I pluck after the bath. The hair inside the ear prevents the water from getting in. Since poodles hair is curly it can grow down into the ear canal so it's best to pluck it or comb it out straight everyday so the ear can breath. Here is a video I made about ear plucking

      tine's channel do NOT use your shampoo on your dog! It can cause skin issues. There are plenty of pet shampoos that don’t have certain ingredients that strip the oils. Research it a little so you can make an informed decision. I didnt know it
      Made a difference so I used shampoo from the dollar store. My little cocker spaniel got sores all over his body after using it for years.

    How often do you express the anal glands? My Phoebe doesn’t like a bath either, and has to stand in on spot no matter what I do. Lol. I just purchased Warren London professional shampoo and conditioner, what are you thoughts on their products? I also purchased one of their Spray on conditioners with Parfum. Haha, it doesn’t have much of a scent at all, but WOW, it made for toning so much easier.

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, I don't express anal glands very often, however if they are dragging their bottom across the floor then I may check them and express. Its best to leave them alone unless there is a problem.

    I like that small comb where did you get it? I haven't seen any that small. Great for toy sized dogs and cats. I have a hard time with my yorkie working on his eyes. Im also trying to find a small blunt scissors for his face. He is so figetidy.
