    I have 2 mini poodles and 2 Aussiedoodles and i groom them myself too , i would just like to ad if you want your poodle more curly do not brush during the drying process just dry him with the hair dryer and run your fingers through the coat to separate the hair a little bit , after you finished drying wait a couple hours and then brush the coat , and i love chris Christensen products i use the the spectrum 10 conditioner and dilute it , it gives a nice silky and shiny coat

    Her dog seems so perfectly trained. She’s doing an amazing job. I get so nervous using scissors on my dog because if I was to cut her, I would have nightmares over that. She just saved herself 100 bucks. I so wish I could do that.

    It's a little weird to watch Bailey be so calm when you are grooming her because she looks so much like the toy poodle my family used to have. He HATED grooming. Brushing, bathing, trimming nails, trimming fur, using scissors, etc. He also hated getting wet and was very possessive of his fur (He would growl at you if you tried to put the fur you had managed to trim in the trash bag and would sometimes move to lay on top of the fur). According to mom, they started grooming him too late. That coupled with multiple other factors led to him to newer really learning to tolerate grooming very well. Our boy would try to run away barking, whining, and sometimes growling when you tried to wash him. He also didn't like getting dried with a towel or a hairdryer. He had no problems with towels otherwise but the moment you tried to use one to dry him he would wiggle like crazy trying to get away. You can probably see why seeing a dog that looks almost like him just standing there not caring at all would be so weird.

      Hello Lily of the Valley! Yes, I totally understand and no judgements here! I can only imagine the challenge that your family had to face! Yikes!

    Hi I have a question. My friend wants a maltipoo but since its a mix their more likley to get diseases, is their a way to prevent that?

    • @poodlemom
      @poodlemom  2 года назад +1

      Hello there! With all due respect, it would be hard to tell honestly, because you don’t know the history of either dogs. Generally speaking, mixes in shelters are relatively healthier than many pure bred dogs because of the wider gene pool that they get from their mixed parents. As I personally do not support the irresponsible and unnecessary breed mixing and matching of such designer dogs, I am afraid I may not be the right person to ask as I may sound quite biased. For me, the Maltese as a breed is perfect as it is, just as the pure poodle breed are perfect as they are. I do not see the need for both to be mixed. I hope this helps in no matter how small way and I wish you the best!

    How do you get Bailey used to the hair dryer? My puppy is terrify of the blow dryer and tries to bite it!

    • @flip_shifty
      @flip_shifty 11 месяцев назад +2

      I did it by first only introducing the blow dryer itself, without turning it on, then when he's used to it, introduce the sound, and lasty, both at the same time, without pointing it at him , just leave it running for a minute or two, so he gets used to the sound. Same with any item, like the vaccuum cleaner, with the vaccuum theres an extra step, movement of it.

    • @poodlemom
      @poodlemom  5 месяцев назад

      Socialization is key 👌 I turn it on and give them treats without it blowing on them then gradually moving forward depending on their process.

    My dog is 8 months old and he is super hyperactive. He WILL NOT stay still for 1 second. I haven’t brought him to the groomers for quite awhile now. Since I’m living in a small neighbourhood there isn’t many pet groomers around. It is a pain in the butt to even bathe him! I’ve even tried giving him treats but he will not stay still. How can I calm him?

    • @poodlemom
      @poodlemom  Год назад

      Hello! Try socializing him to the tools or the places to bathe slowly. And I mean slowly! Meaning, you can take him or her in and out of the bathroom in the beginning until he or she is not scared anymore. But before any of this, exercise your pupper first ^^

    Doesn't a conditioner on a poodles coat make the hair straight and flop?

    • @poodlemom
      @poodlemom  3 месяца назад

      It depends on how much you put and what kind 😀 I don’t use conditioner when I show. But on a regular basis, I condition their hair. Conditioning helps prevent matting on my dogs’ coats. But again, every dog coat is different. ☺️
