The thing i hate most is when i get paired with a pre-made duo. They often dont even ping anything because they can talk to one another. It makes all their desicions extremely confusing. This video did make me realise that im not the best teammate either. I gotta learn to be more patient and teambased i guess.

    • @ECGgroup

I always ping in a duo. Always. Where I'm landing, loot that is commonly wanted or obvious that the random needs. I know it's not the norm, noone seems to do it when I solo queue, but that just gives me more reason to. I know what it's like.
We'd go into game chat, but I play on Xbox and the game chat audio is terrible. If the person is on Xbox I can't hear them, it's like whisper but if they're on PS it's like a jet engine going off. So loud I can't hear the game.
Oh not to mention the latest patch that was supposed to have an audio fix for console has resulted in my mic just not working in game at all (and before anyone asks, Astro A50s and they work perfectly in any other game and in party chat or on my PC).

At least with Mirage and Gibby they are under the same danger you are while ressing you, making it less likely they attempt a res while being shot themselves. They wont follow you, theyre in discord and have coms, they are 2, you are 1, you auto lose every "vote" I specifically pick support characters to help my team as opposed to trying to be the star.
If I could give 1 person who solo ques advice, it's: be friendly immediately when you join the lobby. Try to get a dialogue going. If you start talking to your teammates, especially in lower elos, you have a much higher advantage over people who aren't talking, something I like to do is, "wow dude that pathy skin is sick"

I hate it when teammates don't look at the minimap and don't listen to pings. Like I ping somewhere and start walking in that direction, and then the team either goes another way or takes like a full minute to register what is happening.

One of the greatest and most underrated things about Apex is the ping system Respawn has developed and refined for the game. Its incredibly easy to use and provides so much information for your squad! I dont think any other multiplayer game in the world comes close to it. The fact some people don't use it at all is an absolute travesty and those people are the some of the worst teammates to have. Even when I'm in a pre-made group where we're all using mics, im still pinging where I'm going, what im doing, where people are, etc. It makes my life and the lives of my teammates infinitely easier! Better communication leads to staying alive longer, which leads to more kills and more wins.

I do however sometimes fall victim to the shiny death box that my teammate just made, which I should give them, but end up taking stuff. Usually feel bad and drop what I took ping what I took just to have it sit on the ground cuz teammate doesn't want it and we've already started to move on.

    Meanwhile:
He splits off from our formation, dies, complains that we won't revive him, even though we are 2v2 and soon 2v3ing..
The round b4, he had plenty of time to revive us and make it a 3v1 but decided to rush and die instead...

I normally hold onto 4 battery's and 2.5 sets of cells, same goes for kits and syringes. I also make sure to let people know what ammo in running whenever I pick up a gun or switch weapons just so we all aren't running light ammo or heavy ammo guns because it makes looting harder. I also do this to let people know what ammo I need when I tell them I'm running low. Something my friends and I do, which I recommend you doing, is passing around the gold body armor(while making sure it gets back to its original owner) so we can heal up after a fight faster and get right back into the game.

I confess, I was a battery hoarder. cells, batteries and ammo, are the first thing I grab out of a death box. And that occasionally results in my squad being low on shields, but I always take note of their requests or if they don't have full shields. In addition I realized I don't need that many shield items, so I drop what I don't need and ping it so then know they can take it. I don't hoard anymore.
All other points are things I already avoid doing.

Fight resets are easy with her q, or even with her ultimate if you prepare a couple shields for swaps. Just one piece of advice that I can give as of now, is that you should loot quickly. Your ult is amazing for looting quickly, and you'll almost never run out of ammo. You can use this to hold a position very well, as long as your ult is hidden behind a wall or something.

I wished more people followed these rules. I would think these are all common sense, but I always have teammates that do otherwise. The thing that bothers me the most is when I wipe out a whole squad and I revive teammates before I start looting, the first thing that teammate does is loot all the boxes, leaving me to revive our other teammate. Then I check the boxes and barely get anything out of them. The crazy thing is, the teammates that usually gobble all the loot...they're usually the worst player on the team.

Watching this video made me realize that I'm actually a pretty decent teammate knowing that I've followed most of these etiquettes except for the armor swap since I wasn't sure what that was. I'll admit I'm also guilty of ping spamming but that's because I sometimes panic easily but I've been trying to ping less now. I also play in Singapore server and language barrier is such a disadvantage sometimes so I make sure to communicate a lot by pinging even when I play with a friend using Discord call. Besides the loot icon showing what other people need, I put all these tips into practice. It nice when you actually get randoms that just "click" and you actually see them as a teammates and not as a pain in the old blow hole.
10/10 biggest complaint is octane mains... I mean, batt looting as you actually have power to work with randoms. I hate watching my randoms die only to check there box to see a whole pharmacy while I'm stuck using cells.
For that, ranked is my pubs
But I would add that, if your a higher level to take point in your team and make them follow you. And if your a low level follow who takes point. Not only will it help newer players understand how to engage a fight better but will help you have more control if you want to leave a gunfight as they already hold your ping in high regard. It works I swear, its saved my team a lot from either getting swallowed by the storm near the end or third parties. Basically why would they push something you wouldn't right? Work with your randoms dont abuse them... unless they take all the batts.. then you should just wraith port them off the map...
But for real. I see most high level players (mostly wraiths obviously) speed run their loot and kills just to get 1v3ed because they didnt wait for their team just to get mad they're not pro at level 10

As a battery hoarder I have to say, I only take batteries after my team passes it up. I do this for 2 reasons, at end game there is no better feeling (aside from winning) then having your team say they need Shields just to drop 4-6 batteries and still have 2-4 left for yourself

The only point where I loot stuff from a mates deathbox when it's obvious they can't get back to it.
And even then I tend to share stuff like ammo and health items later on once they're respawned. I might not need those 8 stacks of ammo, but 6 for me and 2 for them will be better for the team.
Same for batteries/syringes. If I see a mate is empty, I share some. I can work fine with less, but a mate without shield and on half health will hurt the entire team.
And about banner/spawn pings, I especially hold back if I see they're in a fight. It only distracts and I can wait that much.

  • @OGwold

I don't play solo anymore, but this is what seems to be the general rules in my squad:
When you're the jump master, ping twice. One to specify the POI, pinged before leaving the ship or at most directly after, and one ping on the exact entrance you're going to, pinged before we split off.
"The closer the enemy, the closer we land", but looting on top of each other is never an option. Depending on the clutch we're in we might need to loot different floors in a small house, but looting on the same floor is unacceptable. In larger houses the one going in the door first chooses a side, and the ones following loots the other side (think Bunker in Kings canyon)
If you have two weps while your teammate has none, drop the one you're least comfortable with, or the one your teammate is most with. Two people with one gun each is worth way more in a fight, and it takes just a couple of seconds to do. This includes hot drops, and when respawning where there's no good loot.
For us it's mostly a "first come first serve" deal towards gold items, but the proper person should get the gold items once you have a blue or above item to switch with. Going from gold backback to nothing is annoying, but losing only two inventory slots while also giving a mirage the golden backpack is a good investment. Same goes for helmets. We don't have a hierarchy of who gets it, but whoever wants more tacticals, or whichever ult needs recharge usually gets the pick.
And a quick note if you're struggling in the ring. If you don't have heat shields and one player has a gold shield, share it to get the max out of your syringes. This might be risky to do with a rando, but with proper teammates it might be a life saver. Especially while doing risky things outside ring two and above.
There's a lot of things that area massive deal breakers when it comes to looting teammates' deathboxes, but I don't see any problems with looting them *if you need it to survive, and as long as you give things back when they respawn*. Stealing someone's purple mags are not team play.
Loot based rant over. Hope anyone finds it useful.
