All of the dragons were kept in the dragonpit, at least at the time of Aenys/Maegor "the dragonpit would be large enough for Balerion, Vhagar, and their get", and eventually only the dragons whose riders currently live at the red keep were kept there. Vermithor/Silverwing were obviously moved out to dragonstone at some point (it would be cruel to keep them locked up with no riders to take them out) and sheepstealer/Grey ghost/the Cannibal were taken to dragonstone once they had been unclaimed for a number of years. I'm guessing there's another way to kill a dragon. It was said that at the Trident, when Torrhen Stark was thinking over about what happened in Harrenhall and Field of Fire, his bastard brother Brandon Snow offered to sneak into the Targaryen's camp and assassinate the Targaryen dragons. One of Bran's visions in ADWD was a pale young man cutting off branches of a weirwood tree and making three arrows out of them. Supposedly this was Brandon Snow making three weirwood arrows to kill the three dragons. Also Red Robb Rivers, an archer with weirwood bow and arrows, shot and killed Ser Criston Cole (an Other symbolism since he's a kingsguard) during the Butcher's Ball. And Brynden Rivers, another archer with weirwood bow and arrows, shot and killed Daemon Blackfyre (a dragon symbolism since he was called the black dragon and a targaryen bastard) at the Battle of the Redgrass Field. So from this we can probably suspect that weirwood arrows can kill magical beings in this story, though we won't probably see it in House of the Dragon but I'm sure we'll see something like that before the main book series ends. Especially since Butcher's Ball and red grass field just sound like descriptions of something that would happen in the war against the Others. Also Red Robb Rivers and Bloodraven were both bastards of House Blackwood that led 300 archers, so I'd also like to think that Brandon Snow was a bastard born of a House Stark and House Blackwood couple.
Azor Ahai doesn’t get into the weirwood net for free. He has to die to get in. But as for weirwood arrows… yeah that sounds like a TWOW / ADOS thing for sure
